Chapter 948 Pre-War Meeting

Upon entering the city, the Hunter Association’s contingent did not disperse the crowds surrounding the automobile manufacturing plant. This was not because they were dealing with one or two monsters, nor some obscure small organization, but with the Abyss of Eyes, an entity with extensive combat experience against the Hunter Association.

Dispersing the surrounding masses aimlessly would only alert the Abyss of Eyes, and no one would be aware of the Hunter Association’s presence before the operation officially commenced. Once the operation began, the Association would dispatch personnel to widely hypnotize the surrounding populace, ensuring they would not run around in a panic and lose their lives unknowingly. Fortunately, the automobile manufacturing plant was located in a rather secluded area with few nearby residents; otherwise, they would not have dared to proceed in such a manner.

Tie Xingzhou and Gui Tunluo, along with several superhumans, lurked in a wasteland, waiting for the Foundation’s people to rendezvous. Everything was ready; all that was needed was the Foundation’s support.

Tick-tock, tick-tock, the clock struck eleven, the appointed time for the Foundation and the Hunter Association. Black lines materialized in mid-air, sketching out a massive doorway. The gate was pushed open from the inside, with Wen Wen emerging first, followed by Wu Liugen, Xue Jiuyi, and Randas Ghost Shadow, three True Sequence members. The other Upper Sequence superhumans and monsters filed out, over a thousand individuals crowding the small patch of wasteland. These figures, some clad in pure black robes, others in black and red robes, all wore red runes to conceal their faces, though the runes on the two types of robes differed.

With these people standing there, their mere demeanor suggested they were far from benevolent. Coupled with the sinister or ferocious auras emanating from the monsters, the entire gathering resembled a large criminal syndicate. If they hadn’t been briefed beforehand, Tie Xingzhou might have thought they had fallen into an enemy trap. Once everyone had emerged, the gate slowly closed, and Wen Wen approached Tie Xingzhou and the other two, shaking their hands cordially.

Looking at this massive force, Tie Xingzhou silently marveled, never expecting a newly emerged superhuman organization to have secretly developed such formidable strength. Fortunately, this Foundation had consistently cooperated with the Hunter Association and operated openly as a legitimate superhuman organization. Otherwise, if the Foundation were to become an enemy of the Hunter Association, it might have become a menace on par with the Abyss of Eyes.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Tie Xingzhou led Wen Wen and the others into a tent. The official operation was scheduled for midnight, so a high-level meeting was to be held beforehand to unify the action plan.

Tie Xingzhou stated solemnly, “Your Foundation’s power is ample. Coupled with our assistance, our strength surpasses that of the Abyss of Eyes. Furthermore, we are the ones launching a surprise attack. As long as there are no major mishaps, we are unlikely to lose on the main battlefield. However, there is a problem: the vast number of low-level monsters here. Their strength is not great, but their dispersal could be enough to cause a disaster. It is relatively easier to intercept the tentacled monsters crawling on the ground, but the giant mosquitoes flying in the sky…”

Wen Wen smiled sinisterly, “I have a way to deal with those mosquitoes. While it may not be perfect, it can significantly reduce the number of mosquitoes escaping.”

Gui Tunluo’s eyes lit up, “Tell us about it.”

Wen Wen clapped his hands, and the worrying devil Rodney pushed aside the tent flap and walked in from outside, holding a chain with a scantily clad woman at the other end, leashed around her neck. Tie Xingzhou sat upright, while Gui Tunluo licked his lips, “Don’t be fooled by our appearance; we are good people…”

“What are you talking about? I won’t allow you to do anything bad,” Wen Wen said with disdain.

“I captured her in this car repair plant. She possesses the ability to control mosquitoes. I can make her cooperate with our operation, but those mosquitoes have exceeded her capabilities, so I cannot fully control them. At most, I can stimulate the mosquitoes’ fighting spirit, making them attack their enemies with all their might instead of fleeing everywhere. A small portion might become agitated and launch indiscriminate attacks…”

Tie Xingzhou, with his thick eyebrows and large eyes, looked overjoyed. He walked in front of the mosquito woman and examined her up and down, causing the mosquito woman to tremble. Wen Wen believed that if there weren’t so many people present, Tie Xingzhou might have made physical advances. However, Tie Xingzhou harbored no evil intentions; he was simply delighted and wanted to express his encouragement, much like how some pet owners want to dote on their pets when they exhibit cute behavior.

Upon learning of the existence of the massive mosquito swarm, Wen Wen had already begun contemplating ways to deal with them. Such a vast group, simply by their normal feeding habits, was capable of creating a disaster. Their current inactivity was merely because they were in a dormant state and did not need to feed. Once the war began, they would awaken from their dormancy and cause immense catastrophe. Therefore, Wen Wen entrusted the mosquito woman to Rodney for handling. After two consecutive days of unceasing ‘education,’ the mosquito woman had become slightly more obedient. Now, if Wen Wen told her to eat dung, she would certainly head straight for the toilet…

Gui Tunluo glanced at Wen Wen curiously. He had already been very intrigued when he saw that half of the Foundation’s contingent consisted of monsters earlier. Now, seeing the docile mosquito woman, he realized that the Foundation had a method for controlling monsters. However, Gui Tunluo was not opposed to this; he even strongly supported the strategy of using monsters to fight monsters. Within the Hunter Association, there were already demon hunters like Chi Yi Hui Zong, who were originally monsters. However, the appearance of these monsters only deepened his curiosity about the Foundation.

He pointed at the map and said, “Since this problem is solved, this battle becomes much simpler. We still need to be mindful of the numerous defensive and trap runes within this automobile manufacturing plant…”

Wen Wen clapped his hands again, drawing everyone’s attention, “I have also prepared countermeasures for this. Before the operation begins, I have a way to destroy their outer defenses, so the operation plan does not need to consider these.”

Gui Tunluo and Tie Xingzhou exchanged glances, both looking somewhat astonished. Tie Xingzhou slapped Wen Wen heartily on the shoulder, “You’re quite skilled, kid. Without the two of us, you probably could have captured this stronghold of the Abyss of Eyes on your own.”

Wen Wen blinked, his expression slightly bashful, “For this operation, the Foundation has emptied its reserves, and we can only manage this much. Without your assistance, we wouldn’t have dared to proceed.”

Gui Tunluo and Tie Xingzhou exchanged glances again, both looking unconvinced. Wen Wen’s words only solidified their belief that he was lying. What they were seeing was undoubtedly only a portion of the Foundation’s strength; claiming they had emptied their reserves was merely to fool the Association.

Wen Wen coughed, “Then it’s settled. At midnight sharp, the operation officially begins!”
