Huan Meng Lie Ren

Chapter 1073 The Fate of the Plate

Wen Wen, though intending to slack off, was still working on a task assigned by Black Knight, so he had to at least go through the motions.

While pretending to search the streets and alleys, he looked for interesting places, such as the local Sea God Temple, and, pleasure districts, pleasure districts…

The only things worth noting were pleasure districts, not because Wen Wen liked such places, but because there was little else of note there.

The infrastructure here was much weaker than in other large cities of the Federation. Only the pleasure industry seemed to be doing well.

When the Federation was first established, the world was unified, with standardized writing and transport. The concept of countries disappeared.

The original major powers bowed their heads and conceded. They either disbanded on the spot or retreated behind the scenes. The Federation also offered many concessions, such as oil fields to the Harman family and the White Bear family.

However, Pengwan Island insisted on being stubborn, wanting to secede from the Federation and become an independent sovereign nation with equal status to the Earth Federation.

At first, the Earth Federation didn't pay much attention, thinking it was just a foolish act by a small rebel.

Unexpectedly, the residents of Pengwan Island escalated their actions, creating public opinion to provoke conflict within the Federation. In the end, the Federation, unable to bear it any longer, sent a platoon of soldiers to suppress them forcefully.

Due to this historical reason, Pengwan Island's development has been consistently unfavorable. Only by relying on the "legalization of pleasure districts" left over from that era could they barely maintain a decent economy.

Some influential figures in the Federation seemed content with this situation, as they also needed a place to legally relax.

Besides the pleasure districts, the monster density here also surprised him. Some individuals on the Hunter Association's wanted list were even walking brazenly on the streets.

None of these arrogant fellows could remain at liberty for more than ten minutes after encountering Wen Wen.

Wen Wen could now be considered one of the top powerhouses in the Federation. Apart from the three Cataclysm-level powerhouses on the island, Wen Wen could essentially do as he pleased.

Yet, this incredibly overbearing Wen Wen was suddenly attacked by an airborne object.

A plate with pink floral patterns flew directly at his head, causing him to yelp involuntarily.

He was standing by a barbecue stall, waiting for his ten skewers of large lamb kidneys, his eyes fixed on the grill.

When the plate flew over, Wen Wen had already sensed it. However, his defense system told him that the object posed no threat to him, so he didn't dodge.

A layer of special power covered the plate, likely intended to return it to a specific location. But this power was depleted upon approaching Wen Wen, causing it to shatter upon impact.

Top-tier superhumans like Wen Wen possess extremely high energy concentrations. Some less stable supernatural powers are instantly neutralized by the energy radiating from his immediate vicinity upon contact.

"Who is so inconsiderate, throwing plates around on the street?"

Wen Wen let out a quacking cry, picked up two skewers of grilled lamb kidneys, and walked in the direction the plate had come from.

He stopped halfway as he saw Tao Wen and Li Dazhuang.

"Huh, why are these two ill omens here?"

Whenever these two gathered, it never led to anything good. So, upon seeing them, Wen Wen lost interest in pursuing the matter of the plate, becoming more concerned about what these two troublemakers would encounter.

However, his disinterest didn't mean the other innocent victim of the plate attack was also unconcerned.

A man, two meters fifty tall and unusually stout, approached aggressively.

This man exuded an astonishing aura, with a plate stuck in his head.

When Wen Wen saw this man, his pupils constricted slightly. This guy was very similar to Zhu Qipei; he should also be a pig-headed human, and…

He was much stronger than Zhu Qipei!

This person was naturally Zhu Pengpei. After all, he was a True Sequence powerhouse, so it was impossible for him to be truly injured by the plate.

But Zhu Pengpei, the person, was incredibly wicked and extremely anti-human.

Well, he was a pig, so being anti-human was normal.

Take crossing the road, for example. If it was at a crosswalk, he would repeatedly pretend to cross, making drivers yield to pedestrians and messing with their minds.

If it wasn't at a crosswalk, and a driver was slow to yield, he would puncture their tires. If they weren't prepared to yield, he would simply lie down on the road to stage an accident.

So, after the plate hit him, he made a cut on his head, allowing the plate to embed itself into the wound.

Then, he aggressively confronted Li Dazhuang and the other two, intending to use this injury to extort their underpants.

If he couldn't extort their underpants, it meant these three weren't wearing any.

"Speak, how do you intend to deal with this?" he said, pointing to his head, his expressionless.

"I can't afford it. How about… you keep the plate?" Yuan Liang said mournfully.

Li Dazhuang took out his wallet. As a nomadic hunter, his wallet was quite substantial; it was at least enough to cover this person's medical expenses.

"Don't worry, we will compensate for this."

However, Zhu Pengpei snatched the wallet and, with a quick exchange of his hands, the wallet vanished.

"Pay up quickly. If I'm not satisfied, I'll take your underpants as payment!"

Wen Wen, who was peeking from the side, scratched his backside.

"Why is this pig-headed guy so fixated on underpants… I need to be careful when dealing with him; his ability might be related to underpants."

Li Dazhuang was momentarily stunned by Zhu Pengpei's trick. Then, the "Guardian of Misfortune" emerged from him. He realized this person was a superhuman and was likely looking for trouble deliberately.

"You've figured it out? But it's too late, kid from the Hunter Association!"

Zhu Pengpei's fist, the size of a sandbag, struck Li Dazhuang's chest. The Guardian of Misfortune was blown away by his breath before it could even touch him.

Tao Wen's expression changed drastically. White light flashed across his body, and two long sabers were unsheathed. He swung them towards Zhu Pengpei.

But Zhu Pengpei didn't dodge or evade. He allowed the two sharp steel sabers to hack at his head. The flesh that the plate had managed to break through suddenly became as hard as steel, and the two long sabers were directly repelled.

Then, with a cruel smile, he slapped Tao Wen on the shoulder, sending him flying horizontally and overturning a truck.

"That old fellow is recovering and urgently needs the flesh and blood of living superhumans. He might be willing to pay a high price for these two demon hunters."

Wen Wen, who had been preparing to intervene, stopped again upon hearing Zhu Pengpei's words.

Could the old fellow he was referring to be Aigel?

So, he decided to watch first. If he could find Aigel by following this lead, wouldn't it be great to add a Cataclysm-level powerhouse to the containment facility?
