Chapter 1076 Land of Monster Tranquility

Shielding all senses was a peculiar experience.

For their own safety, superhumans wouldn't normally attempt such a thing.

However, one of Yuliannu's characteristics was that as long as one could still sense other paths by some means, entry into Yuliannu was impossible.

Thus, Wen Wen and Qiao Feiya had no choice but to resort to this method. Yet, once Wen Wen actually did it, he found it to be a novel experience.

Even with all his senses shut off, he still possessed an instinctive awareness of his surroundings. This feeling was indescribable, yet it brought a sense of peculiar clarity.

If they hadn't had something to do, Wen Wen would have liked to remain in this state for a while longer.

Stopping his steps, Wen Wen opened his eyes, finding the scene before him suddenly opened up.

This was a massive mountain city built entirely of giant stones. A corner of the city was incomplete, as if a very large section had been lost.

The colossal city sat on the ground, as tall as a mountain range. The original mountains had disappeared, seemingly replaced by this city.

The place they appeared in was a dark and damp alleyway within the giant city. At the end of the alley was a wide road where people in various attires were walking.

The lower halves of these pedestrians were semi-transparent, and their feet were completely invisible. These people were like a group of phantoms, living peacefully in this city.

"So this is Yuliannu."

Wen Wen looked back at Qiao Feiya, finding her still in that state of having completely shut off her five senses.

She didn't have the Disaster Gauntlets, so having shut off her senses, she was unaware they had reached their destination.

Wen Wen's eyes darted around, and a mischievous thought crossed his mind. He took out a pen, intending to draw a couple of simple strokes on Qiao Feiya's face.

But before his hand could reach her, and before the pen tip could land on her nose, Qiao Feiya grabbed his wrist and executed a clean and efficient shoulder throw.

As Wen Wen landed, his toes lightly touched the ground, and he sustained no damage. He looked at Qiao Feiya in surprise; it was clear she had also entered that state of clarity, and her mastery seemed higher than Wen Wen's.

After delivering the shoulder throw, Qiao Feiya opened her eyes and resumed her senses. Upon seeing that it was Wen Wen she had thrown, she quickly released her grip.

Wen Wen didn't mind; after all, he was the one who had intended to cause mischief first. However, if he wanted to do something to her face, he was determined to do it.

"This is the enemy's stronghold, after all. Your face is too recognizable. If we leave this alley, we might be ambushed by enemies."

"Although I'm not particularly afraid of them, we haven't found the person we're looking for yet, so let's not cause a commotion."

Qiao Feiya looked at the pen in Wen Wen's hand. "So you want to draw on my face?"

Wen Wen put away the pen. "Drawing on your face is just the most basic method. Since we're going to disguise ourselves, let's do it thoroughly."

He took out a cloak woven from dark purple feathers from the containment facility. This cloak exuded a rich demonic aura.

This cloak was a superhuman item crafted using the energy of the demoness Auli. Since it was a ladies' style, Wen Wen had never tried its effects before.

After putting on the cloak, Qiao Feiya transformed from a valiant female knight into an imposing female demon.

Wen Wen observed her for a few more moments, then took out black ink and drew two ink marks on her face. He drew an ambiguous rune on her forehead and finally found a pair of fake demon horns for her to wear.

"Excellent. Now no one will be able to recognize your identity. Let's officially begin our operation. I'm curious to see if that pig head can lead me to that person."

Qiao Feiya blushed slightly from Wen Wen's treatment, so she merely nodded and followed behind him.

As the two of them walked out of the alley, they noticed that the state of the pedestrians outside was somewhat unusual.

They weren't just semi-transparent; they were like some kind of holographic projection, appearing lively and animated but actually nonexistent. They couldn't see Wen Wen and the other, and when they walked into Wen Wen, they would pass through him instead of avoiding him.

Additionally, the clothing they wore was quite interesting. Some wore long coats, some wore classical formal wear, and some were only dressed in animal skins...

This street seemed to encompass human fashion history from ancient times to the present, giving a sense of time travel.

Although Wen Wen could see them, he couldn't interact with them. Therefore, he treated these transparent figures as background elements and continued to follow the chain on Li Dazhuang towards Pig Pengpei's location.

Occasionally, they would see some individuals or monsters who were not semi-transparent.

These individuals were likely all members of Yuliannu. Slaying just one of them would earn a bounty from the Hunter Association.

However, to avoid unnecessary complications, Wen Wen and Qiao Feiya did not seek trouble with them.

The people and monsters also kept their distance from Wen Wen and Qiao Feiya. Their appearances suggested they were formidable villains, and anyone appearing here was likely a member of Yuliannu.

In the process of searching for Pig Pengpei, Wen Wen also saw many things he hadn't seen before.

For example, many monsters or wanted superhumans had found small courtyards, lived their lives within them, growing flowers, tending to plants, and keeping cats and dogs.

Their lifestyles were no different from people outside, and they appeared very relaxed.

It seemed they considered 'Yuliannu' a sanctuary.

Many of them had found life uncomfortable in the outside world, and perhaps becoming wanted criminals by the Hunter Association was a matter of desperation.

Like in a small courtyard nearby, a deformed, ugly man was growing fruits and vegetables. Wen Wen recognized him.

His name was Babel. He was an infant who had come from the inner world to the real world over twenty years ago.

This infant was adopted by a reclusive old woman and grew up healthy. He embraced human values and was full of gratitude for the old woman.

However, because his appearance was inherently different from humans, he was feared by the ignorant villagers, who treated him as a monster.

They believed that their village had not prospered because of the existence of this monster, and that their lives would become happy if this monster were eliminated.

One night, they piled large amounts of wood around Babel's and the old woman's house, doused it with gasoline, and then set the house ablaze.

The fire did not harm Babel in the slightest, but it caused his power to awaken, turning him into a truly powerful monster.

However, the old woman perished in the flames, and Babel's good feelings towards humanity vanished that night.

Later that night, Babel killed all the men in the village, as well as everyone who had mocked him. He also became a wanted criminal by the Hunter Association.

For monsters like Babel, perhaps humans were the true monsters. Only in an environment like Yuliannu could he live with peace of mind.
