Chapter 1 The Beginning
After leaving Wang Dayi, the tomb keeper, Wen Wen used his demon hunter identity to make a phone call.
The call was to the Hunter Association, informing them about the Yin Tianzi tomb in Lingyuan County.
While Wen Wen was causing trouble in the dim domain, the Faceless Demon, under Wen Wen's identity, had been active elsewhere.
Only a few hours before Wen Wen met the 'Creator of Humans', the Faceless Demon had set off and arrived in Lingyuan County through official channels.
Therefore, no one would connect Wen Wen with the True Order supernormal person wearing a strange mask in the dim domain.
Upon receiving Wen Wen's news, the Hunter Association immediately took the matter seriously.
However, due to the unresolved situation in the Qingji Plateau, they could only send a few demon hunters to control the situation in the city. The detailed exploration and investigation would have to wait until the matter on the plateau was concluded.
After Wen Wen reported this matter, Wang Dayi would likely no longer be able to be a demon hunter. He might even face some punishment, and the Yin Tianzi tomb he had been protecting would also be lost.
However, Wen Wen had no obligation to help him keep the secret of the tomb.
In fact, if Wang Dayi were not already so old that his hair was thinning, Wen Wen would have considered taking him along to serve as cannon fodder.
It was precisely because Wang Dayi had concealed crucial information to maintain secrecy that the Hunter Association had underestimated the danger here, leading to one person after another disappearing.
Wang Dayi also bore responsibility for the deaths of those people.
Thus, Wen Wen followed the address given by Wang Dayi and arrived at Muyuan District, preparing to go to the hotel where Tao Qingqing had disappeared.
The entrance to Muyuan District was secured with several chains, and a security guard sat at the entrance, dozing off, showing no vigilance.
Once the iron gate was locked, anyone he could stop would not be able to enter Muyuan Community without alerting him, and anyone he couldn't stop would be able to enter even if he discovered them, he wouldn't be able to prevent it.
Therefore, his job as a night security guard was quite relaxed.
Wen Wen did not disturb the security guard's pleasant dream. He first jumped onto the wall of Muyuan Community, stepped on the shards of glass, and frowned as he looked inside the wall.
Everything within the wall was covered in a thin layer of gray-black mist. This mist bore similarities to the energy outside the tomb, yet it was not entirely the same.
Unsure of the nature of this substance, Wen Wen did not rashly enter. Instead, he snapped his fingers and summoned a vampire.
The pale-faced male vampire sat on a ten-centimeter-long sharp piece of glass as soon as he appeared, his face instantly turning even paler.
He was about to cry out when he saw Wen Wen's predatory gaze and immediately stifled his scream.
"There might be danger inside, jump down and check the situation."
The vampire's mouth twitched. Did this sound like something a human would say?
Wen Wen lured the vampire with promises: "Relax, I won't let you die. And when you come back, I'll give you extra rations. Blood sausage, pig's blood jelly, and fresh blood mousse can all be arranged for you."
The vampire licked his lips, used his blood power to protect his body, and then cautiously jumped down, only to fall face-first onto the ground...
Wen Wen nudged him a couple of times with a chain and found that the vampire had fallen unconscious, with no heartbeat or respiration.
By human standards, he was dead. However, the energy within his body was still active, so he had likely entered some kind of special state.
This scene made Wen Wen's teeth ache slightly. He then put the vampire away and summoned another one.
These vampires were all captured by Wen Wen in the Golden Eagle Zone. He had captured more than ten of them at once. These vampires were not very strong, and unlike Tao Qingqing, they were not beautiful. Therefore, they had lived quite miserably in the containment facility.
The blood supplied to them was only enough to maintain their normal needs, and they were not as comfortable as Tao Qingqing had been in the facility.
That was why the previous one had immediately jumped down upon hearing Wen Wen's conditions – he had been starving for a long time.
Due to their awkward status, Wen Wen had no qualms about using them as cannon fodder. Even if they really died here, it would save the facility some expenses...
This vampire, like the previous one, wanted to jump down as soon as he heard Wen Wen's conditions. However, this time, he had an invisible shield around him, the shield from Wen Wen's Warehouse Administrator's badge.
After the containment facility was upgraded, Wen Wen could also apply shields to others. He intended to use this vampire to test if the shield could withstand this mist.
As the vampire jumped down, the gray-black mist eagerly tried to penetrate his body, but it was all blocked by the shield, causing him no significant harm. The pressure on the shield was also minimal.
Therefore, as long as the Warehouse Administrator's badge was present, the gray mist here would not pose a problem.
Wen Wen then put away the second lucky vampire and jumped directly into Muyuan District.
Experiencing the mist firsthand through the shield, Wen Wen understood its nature. This mist seemed to have a very strong soporific effect, likely effective against supernormals and monsters below the Disaster Order.
Even for those above the Order, if they inhaled a large amount of this gas, they would probably gradually fall asleep.
Wen Wen only had the strength of a True Order, but his ability level was still Above Order. Therefore, if he entered without protection, he would also be affected by this mist.
Within Muyuan District, there was no sound of birds chirping or insects humming, nor the sounds of small animals scurrying at night. There wasn't even the sound of breathing!
The residents sleeping in their homes were like corpses that had died, with no subtle rise and fall in their chests.
Normally, such a state would be enough to determine their death.
However, Wen Wen knew that the next day they would get out of bed as if nothing had happened, busy with their lives like walking dead.
It was unknown whether the residents here, sleeping under such mist every night, could still be considered "normal" humans.
There was only one hotel in Muyuan District, so Wen Wen found it easily. An old blind man was sitting at the entrance, leaning on his cane and dozing off. However, there were scuff marks on his cane, and his clothes were also covered in dust, indicating he had recently fallen.
This old blind man was Tian Laoqi, the other tomb keeper previously mentioned by Wang Dayi.
Upon hearing Wen Wen's footsteps, Tian Laoqi became extremely vigilant.
Besides himself, this was the first time he had ever seen someone walk through the sleeping mist in the dead of night unharmed!
He abruptly tapped his cane, making a "bang bang" sound, while his ears rapidly twitched. Using the echoes from tapping his cane, he began to discern Wen Wen's appearance.
Although the appearance he saw through this method was not very clear, he at least knew that Wen Wen was a man with small eyes.
Moreover, the mist that permeated the street was actively avoiding the man in front of him!
"Who... are you!"
