Wen Wen frowned, somewhat skeptical of Lin Zheyuan's words. "The destruction of the world sounds too exaggerated. Could there really be monsters of that level?"
Lin Zheyuan took a deep drag of his cigarette, the thick smoke making his eyes roll back. "Calamity-class monsters—I've never seen one. In fact, I doubt anyone in the real world has truly encountered a Calamity-class monster. But if such a thing exists, then the so-called 'Master' behind the Profane Blood is definitely one!"
He kept one thought to himself: if the Creator worshipped by the Genesis Church could also be considered a monster, then it, too, would be Calamity-class.
In reality, aside from the Hunter Association, the most powerful hidden organizations in the world were all connected to Calamity-class entities from the hidden world.
Though Calamity-class monsters might not yet have descended upon the world, the threat they posed had never truly vanished.
Calamity-class = Apocalypse.
Wen Wen nodded, increasingly convinced that his Disaster Containment Center was anything but ordinary. He had no doubt that the center could at least contain Disaster-class monsters.
And since it was called the *Calamity* Containment Center, did that mean it might even be capable of sealing away Calamity-class world-ending monsters?
While Wen Wen and Lin Zheyuan were talking, the assistants had finished their search of the amusement park. One of them waved to Lin Zheyuan.
"That's all for our conversation. In a couple of days, once we’ve wrapped things up, we’ll send you a notice. You’ll need to visit the Association to record today’s events. Also, thank you for helping us out today—we’ll make sure you’re properly compensated."
Lin Zheyuan was too exhausted to continue discussing the matter with Wen Wen. Wen Wen nodded in agreement. He had gained a lot from today’s events, and it was time to go home and take stock of his rewards.
Covered in chicken blood, Wen Wen returned home, ready to wash off the grime, when he suddenly froze.
"If I go into the containment center like this, the blood on me would probably look quite striking in Tao Qingqing’s eyes... Hmm, not bad!" The thought of Tao Qingqing’s reaction sent a thrill through him.
He set aside the fangless little snake and went to wash off the blood. Standing in front of the full-length mirror, he touched his right arm and fell into deep thought.
Earlier, this arm had moved on its own, shoving that energy heart into his body. That meant something must have changed within him.
He deactivated his vampire mode, leaving his body free of any supernatural enhancements, then flexed his arm and pressed lightly on the muscles.
When relaxed, they felt like an ordinary person’s muscles, but when tensed, they turned as hard as stone—at least twice as strong as before he’d obtained the Calamity Containment Center.
After a moment’s thought, he walked to the living room and lifted the water dispenser’s jug.
"It’s light... like holding a small bottle of water..."
The jug wasn’t exactly light before, and while he could lift it without much effort, it had never felt *this* effortless.
"Even without the Calamity Containment Center, with just this level of physical strength, I’d already be considered a monster," Wen Wen mused.
Since obtaining the center, Wen Wen’s strength had improved incrementally, but never in such a sudden, explosive leap as this.
He switched back to vampire mode and lifted the jug again. His eyes narrowed—he could barely even feel its weight now.
His strength in vampire form had also increased significantly!
If he were to face the feathered serpent monster again now, he wouldn’t be nearly as outmatched in raw power.
"From the looks of it, the Disaster Glove acting on its own seems to have done me a favor. But I’d rather not have these benefits if it means the glove can move independently."
Though his power had grown, the autonomous actions of the Disaster Glove cast a shadow over his heart.
"The upgrade and maintenance of the Calamity Containment Center this time were likely due to it absorbing all the energy from that giant heart. That means if the Disaster Glove absorbs more energy in the future, it’ll grow even stronger."
"Too bad this absorption isn’t something I can control. Otherwise, it’d make combat much easier."
Wen Wen knew the amusement park crisis had been resolved because the Disaster Glove had drained the heart’s energy. This proved the glove thrived on foul, evil power.
This time, he’d been lucky enough to get close to the energy core without trouble. Next time, accessing energy of this magnitude wouldn’t be so simple.
He summoned the Disaster Glove again and was surprised to find it had changed.
The glove now covered a larger area, extending all the way to his shoulder. It no longer looked like a glove—more like a pitch-black arm.
With greater coverage came greater power. Wen Wen estimated his right arm was now at least twice as strong as his left.
This wasn’t a trivial difference. Between the energy heart’s enhancement and his vampire strength, this power had reached a level where Wen Wen had to be careful when using it.
He threw a punch into the air with the glove on, creating a dull *thud*. He had no doubt that strike could reduce an ordinary person to paste.
"I’ve... become really strong."
Yet despite confirming his newfound strength, Wen Wen didn’t feel particularly happy. Instead, more questions clouded his mind.
"This glove makes me stronger, but will its coverage keep expanding? When it eventually covers my entire body... will I still be *me*?"
"If the Calamity Containment Center evolves by absorbing such corrupt energy, is its true purpose really to maintain balance between the surface and hidden worlds, as the core claims?"
"With such ominous power... could I just be a vessel for some evil entity to manifest?"
"And what about the state I was in when I lost control earlier? It was like I’d become a real vampire. What was that about...?"
Wen Wen roughly rubbed his hair and sighed. The more he thought, the more questions piled up, each more unanswerable than the last. What would his future hold? Everything was shrouded in mist.
Without another word, he threw on his white coat and headed for the Calamity Containment Center.
