Chapter 71 Scorched Tiger and Pack of Wolves

Wen Wen followed Miao Xinyi to Lin Zheyuan's office and was told to enter himself. Although she was Lin Zheyuan's wife, she was his subordinate here.

Lin Zheyuan was wrapped in a circle of bandages, having been heavily injured in his fight with Mr. L and not yet fully recovered.

"What do you want with me? My time is quite valuable," Wen Wen said with his usual playful banter.

"The questions you needed to ask were already answered in that room. I doubt you'd agree to join the association again if I invited you, so I called you here mainly for two matters."

"Two matters?" Wen Wen asked, confused.

Lin Zheyuan held up a finger. "First, Gu Panxi has already left Furong River City."

Wen Wen shrugged, understanding. "I figured. She's a wanderer; she can't stay in one place for too long."

"Yesterday, she mailed me a package, saying it was your payment. You can have it now." Lin Zheyuan pushed a delicate wooden box toward Wen Wen.

"My payment arrived?"

Wen Wen's eyes lit up. After glancing at Lin Zheyuan, he hugged the box and didn't open it, planning to do so when he got home.

Lin Zheyuan gave a wry smile. "You don't need to be so vigilant. I know what's inside. Items mailed to the Hunter Association are always inspected..."

"Besides, our Furong River branch contributed to this. You've been very active hunting monsters recently, and your assistance in Furong River Park. All the payment you deserve for these I passed on to Gu Panxi, so she could buy this for you."

"Then I should thank you, I suppose."

After he said that, Wen Wen couldn't be stingy anymore and eagerly opened the box.

The box contained two guns. One was slightly larger, with an orange-red tiger pattern on a black base. The other looked smaller, with a pure white base and a blue wolf pattern.

Beside each gun were ten bullets, ten black and ten cyan-gray.

Lin Zheyuan pointed to the two guns. "These are high-end items that only demon hunters of the Wanderer rank or higher can obtain. Even I am envious."

"The black gun is called Blazing Tiger. Its rate of fire is very slow, but its power is immense. Those ten red bullets are explosive rounds. Fired from this gun, their power is no less than an RPG rocket launcher, and their lethality against monsters is even greater!"

"Even its regular bullets have the killing effect of demon hunter bullets, and if you use demon hunter bullets, the power becomes even more formidable."

"The white gun is called Pack of Wolves. Its power is similar to regular firearms. It has two firing modes: silenced shooting and spread shot. Its rate of fire is very fast; how fast you'll have to experience for yourself."

"Those ten bullets are armor-piercing rounds. They can easily pierce through steel plates."

As Lin Zheyuan described them, Wen Wen's eyes brightened, his hands trembling slightly as he touched the two guns.

It was like caressing his dream lover. These were the devastating weapons he had always dreamed of. The sheer coolness of these guns completely outshone the previous rocket launcher!

"There's another compartment in this box. Open it," Lin Zheyuan told Wen Wen.

Wen Wen followed Lin Zheyuan's instructions and opened the compartment of the wooden box. He saw that it contained five boxes of bullets, forty bullets per box, making it two hundred demon hunter bullets!

He still had some of the twenty demon hunter bullets from last time saved, and now so many more had arrived.

Lin Zheyuan pointed to the bullets. "These bullets are a gift from the Furong River branch. Special bullets are too expensive. It's better to use demon hunter bullets as a substitute most of the time."

"This is a bit too valuable," Wen Wen said, tucking the bullets into his bag and feigning shyness.

"It's not too valuable. In fact, these can be mass-produced. However, for free hunters like you, supply is limited. So, do you feel any urge to join the association?" Lin Zheyuan tempted him.

Wen Wen pursed his lips. He wouldn't be defeated by a sugar-coated bullet.

"Well... these two guns are already powerful enough. So, the rocket launcher the Hunter Association gave you... you keep causing big disturbances, and it's hard for us to explain," Lin Zheyuan asked tentatively, seeing how much Wen Wen liked the guns.

"Impossible, that's mine. You gave it to me." Wen Wen flatly refused Lin Zheyuan. A rocket launcher was a man's romance, and taking it away would be taking away Wen Wen's romance.

Lin Zheyuan sighed. "Alright... Sigh, I just hope you won't use it in crowded places next time. It makes things difficult for us."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and a person wearing a black clerical robe with a pure silver cross on the chest and a pure white mask on their face entered.

Wen Wen looked at this person in surprise. Only members of the Creation Church wore clerical robes, but they rarely walked around in public wearing them, and the mask made them seem like they were hiding something.

"I am a new demon hunter, affiliated with the Glorious Chapel. I will be working in Furong River City for a period. My name is Yan Xiu," the person said coldly.

"Judging by the voice, this person doesn't seem very old, but their tone is as if everyone owes them money. And what is the Glorious Chapel? I've never heard of it," Wen Wen observed Yan Xiu, trying to figure out his background.

"Detective Wen, our conversation ends here. You can go out now. Uncle Gong is in the ward. If you want to see him, you can ask my secretary to take you."

After Yan Xiu entered, Lin Zheyuan stopped chatting with Wen Wen. They had more important matters to discuss.

"Okay, I'll head out then. Oh, right, thank you for this." Wen Wen jiggled the box in his hand, clearly knowing the guns were valuable. He figured Gu Panxi must have had some help from Lin Zheyuan to get such high-end items.

Then Wen Wen patted Yan Xiu's shoulder. "Newcomer, let's get along in the future, okay?"

Yan Xiu removed Wen Wen's hand and gave him a sideways glance. His eyes held disgust and arrogance, but not a trace of kindness.

Well, this was another difficult person to get along with.

Wen Wen didn't care about Yan Xiu's unpleasant attitude. He wasn't a sought-after commodity and didn't expect everyone to admire him. Besides beauties, he didn't particularly want anyone else to admire him.

Exiting Lin Zheyuan's office, Wen Wen asked Miao Xinyi to take him to Uncle Gong's room, as he wanted to visit.

"By the way, Sister-in-law, I wanted to ask, what's the deal with the Glorious Chapel?" Wen Wen asked, following Miao Xinyi.

Miao Xinyi corrected him. "Please call me Secretary Miao. Do you know about the Creation Church?"

"Of course, I do. It worships the Creator. It's the largest legal religion in the Federation, with a history of thousands of years. Several major regions even have their entire population believing in the Creation Church."

Wen Wen answered without thinking, reciting information about the Creation Church. Although not everyone in the Federation was religious, everyone knew about the Creation Church.
