Chapter 78 Flesh and Blood Puppets

The three walked upstairs, seeing more than a dozen guest rooms, all with their doors tightly shut.

"Why did you two just barge in?" Lin Lu asked, confused.

"Because this moving inn doesn't have a function for registered occupants. Although the people downstairs look like the missing ones, they aren't those missing people!"

"And I only discovered at the entrance that the inn itself isn't heavily corrupted; the real corruption is from the things inside!"

As Yan Xiu was explaining to Lin Lu, Wen Wen had already made a sweep of the second floor, opening and inspecting all the doors. The occupants inside paid no attention to Wen Wen's actions, continuing with their own activities.

Wen Wen's deduction and Yan Xiu's deduction had slight differences, but they were generally the same.

The badge on his chest was only warm, indicating that although there was danger here, it wasn't as bizarre as it appeared and was still within his handling capabilities. Moreover, the old man who had refused him entry earlier meant that those inside didn't have the confidence to deal with them.

After a simple investigation, Wen Wen didn't find the mastermind and walked over to tell the other two.

"You say those people aren't the missing ones, that's wrong. They are indeed the missing ones, or at least a portion of them are."

"What do you mean?" Yan Xiu frowned. He was certain these people weren't human, which was why he said they weren't the missing ones.

"To make you understand what I'm saying, I brought something from downstairs. You'll understand once you see it."

Wen Wen pulled out a child playing with a rattle from his large bag and presented it to the two of them.

Yan Xiu: "This is what you call 'something'..."

Lin Lu: "...He's just a child."

"Who isn't a child?"

Wen Wen chuckled, grabbed the child by the scalp, and yanked hard, pulling off the entire scalp. Flesh and various tissues splattered onto the floor, but inside wasn't bone as expected, but a puppet-like shell!

If a normal person saw this bloody scene, they would likely vomit, but none of the three present felt uncomfortable.

As demon hunters, they had seen more gruesome and stimulating scenes.

It felt disgusting at first, but as they got used to it, the disgust faded.

"They truly are the missing ones, or rather, the outer layer of flesh is the missing ones, and the puppet inside isn't... No, judging by the smell, there should be victim's bodily tissues within this puppet as well."

An angry symbol appeared on the white mask on Yan Xiu's forehead, indicating he was somewhat upset.

"So, you mean..." Lin Lu finally began to understand. As Wen Wen had said, if he didn't explain it clearly in front of her, it would take a lot of effort for her to comprehend.

"It means there are no living missing people in this inn; they are all just puppets. We can do as we please from now on."

Wen Wen chuckled, looking at the inn as if a child were looking at an amusement park.

After clarifying things for the two, the child puppet lost its purpose. So, Wen Wen grabbed the child puppet by its head and feet, his muscles bulging, and with a strong pull, ripped it into two pieces, tossing them aside.

The severed limbs twisted on the ground, still maintaining the posture of playing with the rattle. In this scene, Wen Wen was very much like a monster slaughtering the innocent.

"Tearing this thing apart took some effort... These puppets might not be easy to deal with."

Wen Wen's strength was already extraordinary, yet he still found it strenuous, indicating the high durability of these puppets.

Yan Xiu squatted down to look at the torn opening of the puppet. Inside, there were many fine metal wires and strips, all violently ripped apart by Wen Wen!

A sweat drop symbol appeared on his mask. This guy could rip apart such things with his bare hands and only found it somewhat strenuous; what kind of abilities did he possess?

The destruction of that small puppet was like a signal, and the entire inn became agitated. The expressionless guests from the rooms upstairs came out and looked at Wen Wen and the others coldly.

Those working downstairs also came up the stairs, blocking the three of them at the staircase.

The old man who walked with a wobbly gait straightened up, and metal chains emerged from both sides of his cane, spinning rapidly. It was actually a slender chainsaw!

"Guests, I already told you the rooms are full and we cannot accommodate you." The old man grinned menacingly at the three, his smile chilling.

Besides the old man, others also had steel knives and saws growing from their limbs, no longer resembling humans. Dozens of puppets surrounded the three of them.

"Hmm, I seem to have stirred up trouble. But even though these puppets are difficult to deal with, the three of us should be able to handle them." Wen Wen drew a handgun with a black body and red patterns, saying with slight excitement.

Upon seeing the handgun, a large exclamation mark appeared on Yan Xiu's mask. Their Church of Glory was a very ancient superpowered organization and had once been the strongest superpowered organization in the Federation.

But now, they were managed by the Hunter Association, and most resources were controlled by the Association. Therefore...

The superpowered individuals from the Church of Glory, like Yan Xiu's group, were very poor!

This poverty wasn't a lack of money. In terms of wealth, the long-established Church of Glory had plenty. They could earn a substantial sum even by selling their predecessors' toilets and spittoons...

What they lacked was superpowered weaponry. Thus, even Yan Xiu, who was outstanding among the younger generation, did not possess a suitable superpowered weapon. Wen Wen's gun, however, appeared to be of considerable quality, making him so jealous he felt like he was separating at the seams...

Tearing apart that small puppet was a bit reckless, but Wen Wen was aiming for a fight. With these two accompanying him, Wen Wen couldn't play any tricks, so he could only try out the power of his new weapon.

He hadn't fired this weapon even once since obtaining it and was quite looking forward to the effect of these two guns.

Lin Lu stepped back a couple of paces, standing in a corner with her arms crossed, observing the two fight. Unless the situation became critical, she wouldn't help, naturally enjoying the leisure.

The old man brandished the chainsaw and charged at the three. Wen Wen stepped forward and kicked the old man in the chest, sending him flying from upstairs to downstairs.

"Well, after hitting a child, I'm kicking an old man. If I didn't know these were puppets, I'd want to hit myself."

Wen Wen muttered as he kicked again, and thus, the battle officially began.

There was nothing much to describe about this battle. Although these puppets looked intimidating and acted ferociously as if powerful, their strength was far inferior to the two of them. The fight was essentially a one-sided beating.

Yan Xiu's fighting style was distinctive. With one hand holding the crucifix hanging on his chest, the other directed a beam of white light to attack.

The white light didn't cause substantial damage to the puppets, but every puppet enveloped by the light quickly lost its fighting ability and collapsed motionless on the ground.

Although the remaining puppets continuously tried to attack Yan Xiu, they bizarrely couldn't get close to him, allowing Yan Xiu to eliminate them one by one.

Watching Yan Xiu's fight, Wen Wen was not to be outdone. He excitedly aimed his "Burning Tiger" at several puppets and fired.

Bang!

A loud bang erupted from Wen Wen's gun, with a faint roar of a tiger mixed in its sound!
