Chapter 14 The Eerie Vines

As mentioned earlier, the technology of the Earth Federation was not very advanced, especially in terms of camera technology, which was far inferior to that of the real Earth.

Camera equipment was expensive, and apart from some special places, surveillance cameras were rarely found. Photo studios remained popular.

In many aspects, the Earth Federation lacked the convenience of modern Earth, but for superhumans, this might be just right.

At least, when stealing things, there was no need to worry about omnipresent cameras.

Wen Wen easily climbed to the second floor, only to find that the windows there were sealed with wooden strips, clearly indicating they were not meant to be opened again.

However, this did not pose a problem for Wen Wen. He found the location of the nails, took out a small knife, and gently pried them open. The wooden strips were silently removed. After removing a few strips, the window was opened.

Well, he was truly a detective…

"There's no smell of disinfectant in this room. It seems it hasn't been used for a long time."

Stepping into the hospital, Wen Wen took a deep breath, discerning the smells in the air. For him, using his sense of smell to find the blood bank was more convenient than looking at the hospital map.

This was a huge room. Potted plants had grown out of their pots, and one could easily trip over the vines on the ground. A thick layer of dust covered the floor, suggesting that no one had been there for a long time.

Even though it was pitch black here, he could see clearly.

He casually kicked a vine aside and complained, "There's grass growing here. After a while, it can be turned into a botanical garden."

"The equipment looks normal and should be reusable. Why did this hospital abandon such a large space…" Su Dan Novel Network

After looking around, Wen Wen discovered that all the exits leading to the normal side of the annex building were sealed with wooden strips, just like the windows outside. However, this half of the annex building had a staircase connecting it.

"There must be something strange going on here, but I don't plan to investigate. I just want to steal some blood."

After searching for a while, Wen Wen found no normal exits. If he didn't want to attract attention by violently breaking down the door, Wen Wen had no choice but to leave the way he came.

Moreover, Wen Wen himself was inclined to leave this room as soon as possible. He didn't detect any immediate danger, but he felt an inexplicable unease in his heart.

Suddenly, his ears twitched. He heard the sound of a lock being opened outside a sealed iron door.

"Is someone coming in? Perhaps I can slip out when they're not paying attention."

He hid behind some equipment and watched as the iron door was opened, letting in warm light.

A small cart, connected to a long pole at the back, appeared in Wen Wen's field of vision. Wen Wen took a gentle breath; there was a faint smell of blood from the cart. The things on the cart were blood bags!

Then, the long pole propped up the cart, and the contents on the cart rolled down – a bundle of blood bags tied together, about a dozen of them.

Afterward, the long pole retracted, the cart moved away, and the iron door was sealed shut again.

"This is quite interesting."

Wen Wen scanned the room. Apart from the overgrown potted plants, there was nothing else.

So he walked forward, looking at the blood bags and smiling. It was like someone delivering a pillow when he was sleepy. He just needed to take these blood bags away.

"But why would they store blood here? Oh well, it feels strange here, I won't bother thinking about it. I'll leave some money and get out quickly."

Wen Wen took out a woven bag and put all the blood bags into it. Just as he was about to return the way he came, he felt a warmth in his chest.

He looked down and saw that the badge of the Disaster Containment Officer was heating up!

A warm current flowed from the badge into his body. Something in Wen Wen's body seemed to have been unblocked. The scene before his eyes rapidly changed, and Wen Wen started to sweat coldly.

The area around him was actually covered in blood-red vines! These vines had sealed off all the surrounding paths, and before the badge started to heat up, Wen Wen had been completely unaware of them!

"

Wen Wen spat. It was useless to say anything now. He had to figure out how to escape from here.

After a period of stalemate, the vines accelerated their movement, like a group of venomous snakes, pouncing on Wen Wen in unison.

Wen Wen continuously swung his knife to block, but it only delayed the inevitable. With his own strength, he was certainly unable to escape from here.

The speed of these vines was not fast in Wen Wen's eyes, but he had nowhere to dodge, and he would eventually slip up.

Therefore, Wen Wen gritted his teeth, grabbed a blood bag from the ground, and his figure suddenly disappeared. All the vines lost their target.

The vines searched the space but found nothing. The prey was clearly here, why did it suddenly disappear?

Wen Wen crouched in the corridor, gasping for breath. Just resisting for that short while had left him somewhat exhausted.

It turned out that at that critical moment, he had entered the Disaster Containment Shelter!
