Wen Wen's study of micro-expressions was merely superficial observation; he hadn't delved into any detailed, in-depth understanding.
This was because after learning about micro-expressions and body language, the first thing he did was train himself to prevent his intentions from being revealed through subtle movements.
For instance, when Wen Wen conversed with others during chance encounters, he would stand with his feet slightly pigeon-toed. This way, others couldn't gauge his intention to stay or leave by the direction of his toes.
The same expression on his face could mean he was about to go and hack someone, or he was going to snatch a lollipop from a child.
In short, unless he lost control of his emotions, most of Wen Wen's micro-expressions and bodily movements were meaningless.
Wen Wen believed that opponents complex enough to require him to observe micro-expressions must have undergone similar training to himself. As for those who were less complex, he wouldn't need to observe their micro-expressions at all.
That was why he hadn't pursued in-depth knowledge and learning in that area.
Jing Yan had no desire for pleasantries with Wen Wen and stated his intentions directly:
"Hand over that original manuscript album, and I'll let you go. Furthermore, we'll leave this city and have no further dealings with any of you."
Wen Wen shook his head and replied, "Your words carry a killing intent, so your promise is likely just a ploy to get the album from me. However, even if it's a lie, I can glean something from what you've said."
"You used 'I' initially and then 'we,' which suggests that you and the real Guo Shengye are likely two separate entities."
Jing Yan's expression shifted drastically. He glared at Wen Wen with fury, and several mirrors around them began to float.
Wen Wen ignored the mirrors and continued, "Painting is his hobby, not yours, yet you, possessing power, are willing to help him in this manner."
"Either the two of you are in love, or there's a connection between you, or perhaps you have something incriminating on him..."
An unnamable fire ignited in Jing Yan's heart. He berated Wen Wen, "Human, do you think you're very clever?"
Wen Wen scratched his head sheepishly and said, "Compared to truly intelligent people, I'm still far, far behind." He held up his fingers to indicate a small distance.
"However, compared to ordinary people, like yourself, I suppose I'm a bit smarter." Wen Wen spread his palms, creating a considerable gap between them.
Jing Yan was speechless. He realized that Wen Wen seemed rather shameless, and engaging in conversation with him was utterly pointless. "Talk is useless. Will you return it to me?"
"Of course... I won't! And remember this: I am the hunter, and you are the prey!"
Wen Wen stored the original manuscript album into his spatial ring. Following that, his aura erupted, and he became utterly combative.
Wen Wen's earlier conversation with Jing Yan was merely him probing for weaknesses. Otherwise, given Wen Wen's nature, he would have initiated the fight long ago after a couple of verbal jabs.
Through this period of dialogue, the demonic eye hidden in Wen Wen's sleeve had completed its observation of Jing Yan.
This meant that Wen Wen was no longer facing Jing Yan completely blind.
The color of Wen Wen's left pupil began to change, emitting a faint purple halo. His left eye now shared vision with Gadro's demonic eye, allowing him to see things that even superhumans couldn't.
Entwined around the floating mirrors were some silvery, semi-transparent tentacles, which were what kept the mirrors suspended in the air.
And in the room, there stood a semi-transparent silver figure. This figure appeared bewildered, its outline identical to Jing Yan's.
This figure was located in the same position as Jing Yan within the mirrors. No matter what action Jing Yan made, this figure mirrored it precisely.
It seemed that by harming the reflection in the mirror, Jing Yan could inflict damage in reality, and this likely occurred through this transparent human figure.
Although Wen Wen wasn't certain if he could destroy this figure, at least being able to see it meant he could evade attacks!
With a surge of confidence, Wen Wen spread his hands towards Jing Yan and said, "You possess such formidable abilities, yet you chase after a mere album; it's quite a waste."
"Why don't you come work for me? I'll not only provide free room and board, but I'll also ensure your value is fully realized!"
The cells in the containment facility provided free food and lodging. As for realizing his full value, that naturally meant supplying his abilities for Wen Wen's use.
Jing Yan ceased his conversation with Wen Wen, realizing that talking with him would only lead to Wen Wen dictating the terms.
The mirrors began to spin, and within them, Jing Yan moved towards Wen Wen's reflection, his hand transforming into what appeared to be a silver metallic blade.
Simultaneously, the silver phantom outside the mirrors also moved towards Wen Wen, mirroring Jing Yan's actions precisely.
The mirrors spun faster and faster, making it increasingly difficult to judge the direction of Jing Yan's attack by observing the images within them.
Jing Yan's voice echoed from all directions, "This time, I won't let you destroy the mirrors so easily. Let's see how you escape from me!"
Wen Wen's lips curled slightly. Under normal circumstances, if he wanted to break free, he would resort to indiscriminate attacks to destroy all the mirrors.
However, doing so would also mean losing any clues to track Jing Yan.
But now that Wen Wen could directly see the silver phantom, he could calmly dodge regardless of how elaborate Jing Yan's tricks became.
The silver phantom brought its hands together like a blade and stabbed directly towards Wen Wen's chest.
Wen Wen dodged with composure, then attempted to grab the silver phantom's hand, only to find his own hand passing straight through it.
The Disaster Gauntlet could directly touch ghosts, but it couldn't touch this silver phantom.
Subsequently, Wen Wen tried various attacks using light, ice, fire, and even mental shock, but all of them passed through the phantom.
The situation seemed grim, but Wen Wen's mood grew increasingly cheerful because, as the battle progressed, he had gained sufficient understanding of Jing Yan's abilities.
This fellow was certainly not invincible!
If Jing Yan's abilities were truly as invincible as they appeared, even a small number of them would be enough to inspire widespread terror.
Through the preceding period of combat, Wen Wen discovered that his intuition would provide a warning just as he was about to be struck by the silver phantom.
Even without seeing the silver phantom, Jing Yan's attacks would have difficulty harming Wen Wen.
This kind of preemptive warning was something all high-tier superhumans could achieve.
Furthermore, although the silver phantom was intangible, its movements were identical to Jing Yan's, meaning its agility was comparable to that of an ordinary person.
In addition, Wen Wen had another theory, and if it could be confirmed, then this silver phantom would pose no threat to him whatsoever.
That theory was that the silver phantom would become tangible at the moment its attack was about to succeed!
