Chapter 1839 Neutral Race
The scorching canyon was filled with huge rocks, coupled with the black smoke drifting from the valley, severely limiting visibility. One could barely see two hundred yards, maybe a little more for those with stronger physiques. Only a ranger's Eagle Eye skill could extend vision to seven or eight hundred yards.
Seven or eight hundred yards seemed far, but against Desolate monsters of level 70 or higher, it was a very short distance. These monsters had an inherently large sensory range of four or five hundred yards. Because of their level, they were more easily alerted to the presence of lower-level players.
At that distance, it was easy to attract monsters accidentally.
Shi Feng quickly led the others to a spot two hundred yards away from Siyu Qingxuan and her group. The area was surrounded by rocks and thick black smoke, making it difficult to be discovered.
"Isn't that Qingxuan?" Aqua Rose said in surprise, watching Siyu Qingxuan fight. "Her combat skills have improved a lot."
Siyu Qingxuan was single-handedly facing three level 70 Lord-ranked Flamefiend Guardians protecting the Boss, holding her own and keeping the fiery humanoid Flamefiends at bay, allowing the others to focus on the Boss.
Her combat skills had clearly reached the Subtle Realm.
However, even more surprising than Siyu Qingxuan's combat skills were her teammates.
These players weren't human. They were all members of different races: beastmen with tiger ears and tails, and half-elves with pointed ears and skin as white as snow.
"What's going on? They're not human?" Fire Dance exclaimed in shock.
The others looked equally astonished.
As far as they knew, in God's Domain, players could only choose the human race. There weren't any other races to select. They had encountered players who could transform into demons or monsters, but those were transformations; they were still originally human.
But these players were different. Their initial data indicated they were not human. Their races were listed as beastmen and half-elves.
Shi Feng was only slightly surprised. He didn't find it particularly strange.
And he finally understood why other players had been able to make it to this place.
In God's Domain, players could only choose the human race initially. There were no other races to choose. But after reaching level 30, players could go to neutral race areas and undertake transformation quests to become beastmen or half-elves.
After becoming a beastman or half-elf, players gained racial abilities but also abandoned their human status, losing the protection of God's Domain's largest race, which made many things much more troublesome.
Because beastmen and half-elves were neutral races, not all kingdoms and empires allowed them to enter. Only a small number did.
Even so, many expert players were willing to do it.
The racial abilities were truly tempting. They might not increase a player's base stats, but they greatly improved their physical abilities. For example, beastmen had animal-like agility, reaction speed, and senses; they were natural-born warriors. Half-elves were favored by magic, making it easier to use; they were natural-born mages.
Both races also had high resistances, a physical advantage that human players couldn't match.
The areas where these neutral races could live weren't so easy for human players to access, which was why they could fight in this Desolate zone with relative ease.
Furthermore, beastmen and half-elves also had bloodlines that could be improved like demon players. The higher the bloodline, the stronger the racial abilities. However, there was also a drawback: advancing was difficult. The higher the bloodline, the harder it was to advance.
With the same skill and combat power, human players might have already advanced to Tier 3, while these beastmen and half-elves might still be stuck in Tier 2, unable to advance. This was the main reason why neutral races were always suppressed by humans. The difference in the number of peak experts was too great.
This could be said to be a gain and a loss in God's Domain; it depended on the player's choice.
If one was confident in their own skill and strength, they might be able to break through the advancement shackles of the neutral races.
While Shi Feng and the others were watching, the level 72 Great Lord Flamefiend Overlord's HP dropped below 50%.
"Melee fighters, all retreat! Dodge the Boss's ultimate move!" A level 56 half-elf female Elementalist suddenly shouted.
Hearing her command, the nine beastman players who had been fighting the Flamefiend Overlord quickly moved away.
The five- or six-meter-tall Flamefiend Overlord roared, and pillars of fire erupted from the ground, turning the ground beneath its feet into lava, creating an absolute no-man's-land.
As the lava began to spread outward, the level 56 half-elf female Elementalist used the Tier 2 ice-type forbidden spell, Ice River.
Instantly, the boiling lava turned into frozen earth, and the Flamefiend Overlord became an ice sculpture.
"Full power attack!" the half-elf female Elementalist shouted.
At her command, everyone frantically attacked the level 72 Flamefiend Overlord, causing its HP to plummet at a much faster rate than before.
Each attack dealt astonishing damage. Against the level 72 Great Lord, the lowest attacks dealt over ten thousand damage, and the highest dealt over twenty thousand.
In just over two minutes, the Flamefiend Overlord's HP dropped to 30%.
As soon as its HP reached 30%, the Flamefiend Overlord abruptly transformed into balls of flame, becoming smaller Flamefiend Overlords. There were forty or fifty of them, each with half of the original's base stats, making them stronger than same-level Lords. However, each one only had a little over six hundred thousand HP.
But against so many small Flamefiend Overlords, the beastmen and half-elves handled them with ease. Each person could handle two or three, constantly depleting their HP.
When all the small Flamefiend Overlords were defeated, the flames recombined to form the true Flamefiend Overlord, but with only 10% HP remaining.
In less than two minutes, the Flamefiend Overlord's HP was finally reduced to zero. It turned into a ball of flame and dissipated, leaving behind only five dropped items and a pile of fiery remains.
The speed at which they defeated a level 72 Boss would likely make even the main force of a large guild sigh in despair.
As Shi Feng was about to lead his group over after watching them kill the Boss, he suddenly heard a voice.
"You've been watching us fight the Boss for quite a while. Now you can come out, right?" The half-elf female Elementalist turned to look at Shi Feng and the others hiding behind the rocks, and said coldly, "If you don't come out, then we'll go over there."
Hearing this, the other beastmen and half-elves also turned to look at where Shi Feng and the others were, their faces cold.
