132 Isolation and Recovery

Ou Zhanpeng suddenly felt something was wrong. The alien species had caused countless incidents in space, even igniting Jupiter and shattering the tranquility of the solar system for billions of years. Their capacity for trouble was first-rate.

The remaining handful of brain-fish were still hiding on Callisto, elusive and uncatchable, forcing the military to continue building expeditionary warships and maintain humanity's military presence in the direction of Jupiter.

Don't think that using solid-state smoke ship hulls will lower the cost of space warships. Various essential equipment, supplies, and weapons systems, any single one of which is a massive amount of money.

The value of the equipment and supplies themselves is secondary; the key is the high launch cost.

This is why they say "great national essential weapons." For ordinary individuals, they truly don't have such deep pockets.

Looking at Blue Star today, besides Xia Country, only Lao Mi, who constantly benchmarks against Xia Country, Da Mao, who is dead but not stiff, and the united Europa have the ability to build space fleets. Other friends can only sigh with envy, lamenting that it’s not easy to say "I love you."

Well, that description is not wrong at all. Space warships are absolutely beautiful women of white, rich, and beautiful. Only the top few friends on the entire Blue Star are qualified to own them, and other friends can only look on with envious eyes.

But then again, even Xia Country and Lao Mi, facing the exorbitant cost of building and operating space warships, no matter how wealthy they are, have to be meticulous and even tighten their belts. No one would dare to build a couple of them for fun without reason.

No one's money comes from the wind. If it weren't for being forced by the alien species, how could Yanjing build them one after another without end?

They are the same brain-fish, but they are so difficult to deal with in space. How could they be so calm on land?

When Ou Zhanpeng expressed his thoughts, Ling Xiao didn't take it to heart at all and casually replied, "Who knows? Maybe the emergency equipment is all in the latter half, and the front half only has people without equipment?"

Even a clever woman can't cook without rice. No matter how powerful the brain-fish are, they are not magical races. Without equipment, it's like breaking their backbone. It's not strange for them to live with their tails between their legs.

Everyone thought it made some sense.

As Ling Xiao said, escape pods are for emergencies and naturally fully equipped. However, a spaceship only has one escape pod. Other life-saving devices cannot carry such comprehensive emergency equipment.

So, it's not that the alien species hidden in the deep sea don't want to cause trouble, but rather they are like an old ox pulling a plow – willing but unable!

Ou Zhanpeng thought for a moment and said, "I hope so!"

First sea monsters, then alien plants. He always felt that the alien species' plot was not that simple.

Ling Xiao didn't misunderstand the logic; he was just suffering from laziness.

Why let the think tanks above waste their brain cells on such profound questions? A few small tricks, why worry about them here?

In a blink of an eye, the spaceship left the coastline behind, and a straight runway appeared ahead.

The base had arrived!

Under Ou Zhanpeng's control, the spaceship landed successfully and was towed to the tarmac by a tractor.

Shan Qiuyu had already led a large contingent to wait there, but there was no welcoming ceremony or customary speech. As soon as the spaceship landed, a group of medical personnel swarmed aboard and, in order, helped the astronauts out of the ship. After a quick on-site examination to confirm no major issues, they were immediately sent to a special isolation point for medical quarantine.

Having just returned from space, everyone's physiological condition was very poor. They had to undergo a period of isolation observation, followed by a period of recovery and recuperation, and then resume training until they were back in working condition.

Ou Zhanpeng could have walked off the spaceship himself, but the on-site examination by medical personnel was part of the entire return procedure. He didn't intend to be too unconventional and cooperated fully with the medical staff's examination.

The results were naturally that all physiological indicators were normal, with stable breathing and strong heartbeats. He didn't look like someone who had been floating in space for over two years.

The military doctor immediately thought of the medical data transmitted by the Yun Gong Hao: "Are you Ou Zhanpeng?"

"It's me!" Mr. Ou replied with a smile.

"Do you want to walk yourself, or shall we carry you?" the military doctor couldn't help but laugh.

Ou Zhanpeng also smiled: "Please carry me for a bit. If everyone gets special treatment except me, those who know will know I'm fine, but those who don't might think you're mistreating an astronaut, which wouldn't be good."

The military doctor smiled and agreed: "Alright, let's go!"

Four soldiers exerted their strength together, carrying Ou Zhanpeng to a special transport vehicle.

Upon reaching the isolation ward, Ou Zhanpeng couldn't lie still and immediately jumped up and took a few steps.

At first, he was a bit unaccustomed, feeling a wobbling sensation like a toddler learning to walk, but after a short while, he re-adapted to the gravity under his feet and wandered around as if nothing had happened.

Although the medical staff present knew his physiological indicators were normal, they were still greatly alarmed at this sight, fearing that something might be wrong with him.

Only after repeated examinations by doctors confirmed there were no abnormalities could they not help but believe it was true.

Everyone couldn't help but marvel: They had seen many astronauts, but this was the first time they had encountered one who didn't need isolation and recovery upon landing! Before long, the news spread, and Ou Zhanpeng instantly became the favorite of all medical staff, with people proactively greeting him wherever he went.

Ling Xiao's physical condition was also good. If Ou Zhanpeng hadn't set such a high standard, he would have attracted considerable attention. But with Mr. Ou present, he could only reluctantly serve as a supporting supporting actor.

However, he wasn't a three-year-old child, so he wouldn't be unhappy about such a trivial matter.

Strictly speaking, Ou Zhanpeng could have ended his isolation observation, but out of caution, he had to stay in the isolation area for a full week.

Bored, he found Xu Qing's ward and spent his days taking care of Xu Qing, almost taking over the nurses' work. Xu Qing was so touched that tears streamed down her face, wishing she could be merged with Ou Zhanpeng into one and never be separated.

But unfortunately, it was a special period, and in a public area, the two of them could not stay in the same room under any circumstances.

An exasperated nurse reported to the base, and under the strict order of Shan Qiuyu, Ou Zhanpeng had to compromise and stop taking over the junior nurses' work.

Even so, the base lifted Ou Zhanpeng's isolation observation early, on the ninth day after landing. As for others, their isolation period would last at least three weeks.

He still had 2 to 3 months of recovery and recuperation ahead, but Ou Zhanpeng skipped this phase directly and joined the daily training in high spirits. His performance was outstanding, astonishing the astronauts who remained at the base, making them completely disbelieve that he had just returned from space.

Was this even human? Was this the ox from the production team?
