Chapter 776: Chapter 775: Flygon? Are You Underestimating My Drapion?
Clair made a quick decision. She took out a Pokéball and attempted to recall Charizard.
Cain, seeing her movement, immediately understood Charizard’s purpose.
A faint smile appeared on his face. "Drapion, use Toxic Spikes!"
As soon as Charizard was recalled, Drapion scattered poisonous spikes on Clair’s side of the field.
There was no other option: although Clair’s next Pokémon would suffer the effects of the spikes, she couldn’t afford to leave Charizard on the field, since Cain would likely bring out Florges. Without Charizard, Clair wouldn’t have an effective tool against that threat.
However, not all Pokémon are affected by the spikes.
The next Pokémon Clair sent out was a Flygon.

Clair knew Drapion well and knew that its only real weakness was Ground-type moves.
However, when Flygon appeared, both Cain and Drapion showed an odd expression.
Trainer and Pokémon looked at each other and exchanged a smile.
A Flygon against Drapion?
Was Clair underestimating Drapion?
Drapion was more than familiar with Flygon. There was no Pokémon he knew better, as during Cain’s training, Drapion had fought Flygon and Houndoom for an entire month.
With his eyes closed, Drapion could identify all of a Flygon’s weak points.
Flygon immediately began flapping her wings, keeping herself airborne and thus avoiding the poison spikes.
However, Drapion had already charged forward.
Standing over two meters tall with extremely long arms, Drapion grabbed Flygon before she could gain enough altitude.
That’s the problem with switching Pokémon mid-battle: the opponent always has the initiative.
"Flygon, use Earthquake!" Clair shouted, anticipating the situation and giving an immediate command.
If a Ground-type Pokémon used Earthquake, the attack would be devastating—especially against Drapion, who was weak to that type.
"Drapion, use Poison Tail, Ice Fang, and Poison Jab! Triple attack!" Cain ordered firmly.
Thanks to rigorous training, Drapion had perfected his ability to attack simultaneously from different parts of his body: tail, jaw, and pincers. This level of coordination required exceptional energy control.
Flygon’s Earthquake radiated from her legs, sending waves of seismic energy that hit Drapion squarely. The impact was massive.
However, Drapion didn’t stop.
With one pincer, he grabbed Flygon’s shoulder, while his fangs—charged with Ice-type energy—bit directly into her neck.
Throughout his training, Drapion had discovered that the neck was one of Flygon’s most vulnerable points.
Although Flygon wasn’t a pure Dragon-type, her weakness in this area was similar to that of many Dragon-types, whose tougher scales tended to concentrate at the base of the neck.
The attack left two rows of bite marks on Flygon’s neck, along with a layer of rapidly spreading frost.
And Drapion didn’t stop there. Poison energy surged in both his tail and pincers, the result of the intensive training regimen Cain had designed for him.
Bam!
Bam!
Both Drapion’s tail and pincer, infused with toxic energy, struck Flygon simultaneously.
Drapion’s Sniper ability activated.
Flygon cried out in pain, feeling three consecutive blows land squarely on her weak spots.
"This isn’t fair! I hit once, and he hits three times, and it hurts so much!" Flygon’s eyes seemed to say before she momentarily closed them, nearly fainting.
Even with a sturdy body, Flygon was left on the brink of collapse after Drapion’s three critical hits.
Clair’s expression changed. She hadn’t expected Flygon to be in such bad shape after just one round of attacks.
"Flygon, take flight!" she ordered urgently.
Flygon desperately beat her wings, stirring up a cloud of dust. But no matter how hard she tried, Drapion wouldn’t release his grip—his pincer remained tightly clamped on her shoulder.
With a mix of terror and disbelief, Flygon looked at the Drapion smiling beneath her.
"What kind of monstrous strength is this? I’m a dragon!" her expression seemed to say.
"Drapion, Double Ice Fang!" Cain commanded.
Drapion roared with enthusiasm, using all his strength to slam Flygon into the ground.
His fangs, surrounded by icy energy, sharpened even further before biting her neck once more.
At the same time, his other pincer, also charged with ice energy, struck the same area.
Flygon let out a weak whimper before closing her eyes and collapsing to the ground, completely defeated.
Thanks to Drapion’s Sniper ability, the type advantage of Ice Fang, and the accumulation of previous damage, Flygon never stood a chance.
Drapion’s ability to exploit enemy weaknesses made him Cain’s most explosively powerful Pokémon.
Clair was completely stunned. Her Flygon, who was supposed to be a solid counter to Drapion, had been nearly instantly defeated.
"Trainer Clair, please choose your next Pokémon," the referee said, noticing her hesitation.
Clair recalled Flygon to her Pokéball, still contemplating Drapion’s terrifying strength and his ability to activate his ability against any opponent.
With no time to dwell further, she tossed another Pokéball onto the field.
A Dragonair appeared—a pure Dragon-type Pokémon, its sapphire-blue skin shining under the stadium lights.
