Chapter 1292: Chapter 1292: New Insights
In the Tianlan Star Domain, on an ordinary planet.
Xu Nian’s figure appeared on a desolate grassland, with a vast expanse stretching out around him as far as the eye could see.
Xu Nian strolled across the prairie, feeling the breeze against him, striving to immerse his entire being in the flow of the wind.
The Denor Emperor had said to generate a communion with the wind.
Yet, these two words are easier said than done.
Communion is a mysterious and profound state, one that can only be understood, not explained.
So to this day, Xu Nian had no idea what this so-called communion was truly like.
For now, he could only wait for fate’s opportunity.
But being able to take a walk, Xu Nian still felt much more relieved.
During this time, the pressure on his shoulders had not been small.
Until Murong Xue’s memory was restored, he could not alleviate any of the pressure on him.
But to assassinate the Tiancang Sect Master, what an arduous task it was.
Xu Nian moved swiftly across the wasteland, covering hundreds of miles with a single step, and within three steps, he had reached a town.
When Xu Nian stepped into the town, he realized that this town was still at a very ordinary stage.
In other words, the entire town was made up of a planet of ordinary people, with virtually no cultivators around.
Xu Nian wasn’t surprised by this, as the vast cultivation world had some planets that were indeed still completely closed off, with very few cultivators in them.
Even if there were cultivators, their level of cultivation was not high.
Xu Nian walked along the streets of the town, surrounded by the loud cries of the merchants’ stalls.
The hustle and bustle around him was palpable.
These people, though unaware of the vastness of heaven and earth, lived their lives carefree.
Suddenly, Xu Nian’s attention was drawn to a little beggar.
This little beggar was a girl, about ten years old.
At this moment, she was longingly staring at the buns in a nearby bun shop, evidently tempted by them.
Xu Nian smiled slightly; this was a common scene everywhere.
The outcome was nothing more than two possibilities: one where the little beggar left disappointed.
The other was where she took a bun when the shop owner wasn’t looking and left.
So he didn’t think much of it and was about to leave.
But the scene that followed made him halt instinctively.
Just as he expected, the little girl seized a bun swiftly when the shop owner wasn’t looking and ran away.
This scene happened to be caught by the bun shop owner.
"You little rascal!"
The bun shop owner shouted immediately and then made a gesture as though to chase her.
The little girl was so frightened that she ran away hurriedly.
Everything was exactly as Xu Nian had figured, yet to him, it all seemed too odd.
Clearly, the momentary lapse of the bun shop owner was intentional.
The purpose was to give the little girl a chance to steal a bun.
As for how Xu Nian knew this, he had sensed a slight fluctuation from the bun shop owner.
That fluctuation had already exposed the fact that this seemingly honest man was actually a strong person at the Earth Immortal Peak Level.
Stealing something under the nose of an Earth Immortal Peak Strong Person, not even Xu Nian could achieve that, let alone an ordinary little girl.
The bun shop owner swore, chased a little, then gave up and returned to the shop.
As he walked past Xu Nian, he flashed a simple-minded smile.
"Why did you deliberately let the little girl steal a bun when you could have given it to her?" Xu Nian couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity.
The shop owner turned and looked at Xu Nian with a hint of meaning, then smiled slightly and said, "You might want to watch; she didn’t actually take the bun for herself. If I just gave her the bun, it wouldn’t necessarily be good for her as a little beggar. On the contrary, stealing it makes her feel like she earned it through her own effort, rather than it being a handout."
Xu Nian was rather surprised, a thought struck his mind.
Immediately, his focus fell on the little beggar who had disappeared into the street.
Now, that little beggar had reached a broken alley.
In the alley, besides the little girl, there was a timid little face.
The little girl handed the bun she had stolen to an even smaller boy in front of her and said with a smile, "Look, big sister fought a victorious battle today, I’ll let you have this bun!"
"What about big sister?" the little boy asked in a childish voice.
"Big sister has already eaten. I can always go get more if big sister wants some," the girl replied proudly.
The little boy responded and then gobbled down the bun eagerly.
And the little girl, looking at the bun, subconsciously swallowed but still smiled.
"So, isn’t it interesting?" the honest man said with a smile.
"Indeed interesting, but don’t you want to help her? With your capability, it would be an easy feat," Xu Nian asked, curious.
"Help? Young man, you seem really young; since you’ve come this far, it shows you are exceptionally talented. Actually, everyone has their own destiny. Letting her steal the bun is what helps her the most. Even if I gave her mountains of gold or silver, or accepted her as a disciple and assisted her on the cultivation path, it probably wouldn’t be good for her. She might not be as happy then as she is now," the honest man said with a smile.
"Happy?" Xu Nian asked, somewhat puzzled.
"Yes, young man, sometimes happiness can triumph over everything. My short hundred years of happiness are more important to me than a thousand or ten thousand years," the simple man said with another smile.
"Old man, why are you lazing around again? Get back to work," came the fierce shout of the lady boss from inside the shop.
"Yes, dear, I’m coming," the honest man replied promptly.
With a slight smile at Xu Nian, he hurried back to the shop.
Xu Nian glanced at the lady boss and found that she was just an ordinary person.
Yet the middle-aged man was terribly afraid of her.
In that instant, Xu Nian seemed to understand something.
He then took another step, leaving the town in an instant and appeared on a solitary peak.
The howling gale blew against Xu Nian’s face, but at this moment, his heart was especially clear and joyful.
Even the wind around him seemed to carry a sense of joy as it blew across him.
"I understand now, the so-called communion wasn’t about feeling the wind’s emotions, but influencing the wind around me with my own emotions, such that happiness, anger, and sadness happen at a whim," Xu Nian said with an expression of joy.
At this moment, he found that his understanding of the Wind Attribute Cutting Profound Argumentation had seemingly elevated to a new level.
"Buzz!"
But at this very moment, a figure suddenly appeared in the void before him.
Seeing this figure, Xu Nian’s eyes became instantly sharp.
