Chapter 262 Plan Gone Wrong

Chapter 262: Chapter 262 Plan Gone Wrong

Alaric dramatically held his chest. "That’s harsh, you put me in this situation, shouldn’t you nurse me back to health?"

’Get your head straight Alaric, she was the reason your Alpha died... get rid of this obsession,’ He thought to himself.

The playfulness in his eyes died replaced by coldness. He lowered his hand and lay down on the couch.

"You are not going to win her over?" Midnight asked cautiously.

"She attacked us, Midnight, requesting for Damon. As much as we want to love our mate, we can’t support her plans... she caused the death of our Alpha... she was right, there is no way we can be together." Alaric replied to him.

Midnight’s shoulders drooped, before disappearing to the deepest corner of his mind.

"It was a battle, I owe you nothing." Her voice carried detachment, however, her eyes seemed to linger on him for a moment too long.

"You are right, you owe me nothing. We should forget about what I had said earlier." Alaric’s voice was devoid of emotion.

Seraphina’s eyes flickered with surprise but she quickly masked it. ’How could he be flirting one second and cold the next. This is for the best.’

"The Queen requested both of your presence, however considering you are still healing, a healer would come and help you fasten the process... So you have a few minutes to rest properly." Saying that, Seraphina walked out of the room.

Alaric looked away, refusing to glance at her one last time.

.....

(In the Fae Realm)

Thunder flashed through the sky, as the downpour of rain grew heavier by every passing second.

In the castle of the royal family, a light sliced through the cold air, before enlarging into a round blue portal, the whirring sound of the portal was almost drowned by the heavy rain.

A figure stepped out of the portal, his blonde hair got drenched by the water, small cuts covered his face, and his fingers tightened firmly around his sword.

His pale blue eyes looked angry and cold. He strode towards the entrance of the castle.

The guards immediately bowed their heads the moment they sighted him.

He stormed his way to the courtroom leaving a trail of water behind.

The door to the courtroom burst open, his chest heaved heavily, his throat tightened as his eyes stung with emotions he refused to name.

Getting to the center of the room, he fell on his knees. "Your highness," he bowed his head.

Zeir, who had been meditating in his throne slowly opened his eyes, revealing his beautiful blue eyes. His long silver white hair was braided to fall over his face.

The lightning illuminated his pale skin. His eyes were calm, a sharp contrast to the storm outside.

"Why are you here, Rhydian?" His voice was calm and cold.

"Your highness, I failed... I failed to win her heart." His voice cracked, his eyes welled.

"You failed? How?" Zeir straightened his back.

Rhydian swallowed. "I apologize for advising you to let her escape... I thought she would love me for who I am, if I knew this would happen, we would have gone through with the marriage."

"I asked what happened?"

Rhydian blinked. "Damon happened." His throat tightened. "I couldn’t win against him, as planned, I brought Aeris to the witches’ realm so she could awaken her powers, because of the sacred trees’ magic that runs there." He paused.

"She had awakened her magic, however, the witches came after us... during the battle, Damon gave his heart to save her.."

"What?!" Zeir stood from his throne. "How could you let it happen? You know how important his heart is, if not for that I would have had him killed for trespassing... and now you are telling me he gave his heart to the witches?!"

Rhydian closed his eyes in guilt. He was so overwhelmed with jealousy, that he couldn’t help but instigate him to rip out his heart... even when he knew how important his heart was.

"I apologize, my lord." He bowed.

"Apologize?" Zeir’s eyes blazed with fury. "His heart is the last hope we have in reviving the sacred tree. But you are telling me the heart is gone?" Zeir let out a distressed sigh. "Do you know what you have done?"

Rhydian lowered his head, his lips quivered, unsure of how he would take it when he learns that Aeris had given half her heart to Damon.

"We need to gather tropes, we have to retrieve the heart back."

"There is no need for that." Rhydian inhaled sharply.

"Why?"

The temperature in the room lowered drastically at Zeir’s question.

"Because the heart was destroyed during the fight," Rhydian said, closing his eyes.

Silence stretched across the room like a thick layer of ice.

"The Lycan King is dead." Zeir’s shocked voice broke the silence.

Rhydian shook his head. "He is very much alive," he muttered.

"Tell me everything that happened and stop telling in bits!" Zeir almost lost his composure.

"Aeris awakened her powers in the battle, and she gave half of her heart to Damon, reviving him back to life." His fingers dug into his palm.

"You mean she used her awakened powers?" Zeir arched his brows.

Rhydian nodded his head.

Zeir returned to his seat, and he sat in disbelief. Everything he had worked for had gone to waste.

"Wasn’t she wearing the blue pendant?" He asked after minutes of searching for his voice.

"She was, however, the pendant shattered during the awakening... I believe it wasn’t able to contain her powers, and when it broke, all her powers it had absorbed returned to her, making her stronger."

Zeir’s eyes narrowed dangerously. "And what were you doing when all of these were happening?" He straightened his back, recomposing himself.

"I couldn’t get to her, her powers were too strong." Rhydian remained on his knees.

Zeir drummed his finger on the armrest of his throne. "Then, there is nothing we can do... She brought this upon herself." He said monotonously.
