Chapter 721: Chapter 723 Humming More Cheerfully
With Ma Zhijun protecting his elder brother, Xu Nianhua finally sighed with relief, the heavy stone that had been weighing on his heart had at last loosened.
"Yicheng, thank you." Xu Nianhua specifically bought some grapes for Pei Yicheng, Ma Zhijun, and Liu Qiang, all of whom appeared very stable and reliable.
"I’d prefer you cook me a dinner." Pei Yicheng showed no interest in the grapes but was very interested in Xu Nianhua’s cooking skills.
"Now?"
Xu Nianhua glanced at her bag, realizing she had bought nothing but the grapes.
"Put it on my tab." Pei Yicheng looked at her, noticing the sweat on her forehead, and said, "The sun is quite harsh outside, you should stay home and spend more time with your parents. How many days off have you taken?"
"I took a few days off. I’ll go back next Monday." Xu Nianhua explained the purpose of her visit and handed over several sheets of paper, saying, "Yicheng, take a look at this. How should we design the expansion of the factory?"
She and Ji Ying had thought about it for a long time but couldn’t decide on a design.
Pei Yicheng took the papers from her, which simply depicted the current layout of the factory. Though not professionally trained, the clear and straightforward drawings were easy to understand. He picked up a pen, and with a few simple strokes, Xu Nianhua exclaimed, "Yicheng, how come with just a few strokes, my drawing seems to come alive?"
Xu Nianhua marveled at her own drawing. Although she admitted she was still not proficient, Pei Yicheng’s few additions seemed to make it more three-dimensional.
"Watch closely." Feeling her astonished and admiring gaze, Pei Yicheng’s pen swiftly moved across the paper. As he explained and drew, he said, "After this expansion, we need to at least quintuple our production capacity. Of course, we also need to start preparing to hire more staff."
"Yes, my mom said to start hiring gradually, so by the time the new factory building is completed, everyone will be experienced." Xu Nianhua responded, watching his pen as if it were magic.
Du Chang learned that Xu Nianhua had arrived and specifically bought a large watermelon back home. He happened to see them sitting side by side, both focused on the paper in Pei Yicheng’s hands. A breeze blew through, creating a beautifully serene scene.
Du Chang did not disturb them but quietly placed the watermelon aside and hummed a tune as he headed back to the clinic.
Ever since Pei Yicheng injured his leg, Du Chang had been worried. His only grandson had hurt his leg, but now it was healed, and he even had a partner. Nianhua was such a good girl—his spouse and Xiaoya would definitely like her.
Maybe in a few years, Du Chang might even hold a great-grandchild.
The thought made Du Chang hum his tune even more joyfully.
"Master, is there a happy occasion? You seem very cheerful." Xu Nian’an had just finished up at the Chili Sauce Factory and planned to visit his master to discuss some unresolved school issues, as his master, being an experienced traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, surely knew much more than him.
"You’re back, and that makes me happy," Du Chang said joyously. "Nian’an, how is school going? Let me test you and see if you’ve made any progress."
Du Chang assumed a serious expression and immediately started to test his knowledge.
Xu Nian’an instantly forgot to ask why Du Chang was so cheerful earlier and, focusing, began answering Du Chang’s questions.
The questions from Du Chang were not all textbook material, and if he wasn’t careful, he might fail to respond correctly.
After the examination, Du Chang said, "You’ve learned well but remember, be humble and stay diligent. The path of medicine is long and demanding."
