Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Settling Accounts with It
Jiang Xue put down the empty basket, then looked at the kitchen light that was on, and headed to the kitchen. She knew the elderly were worried about her and probably hadn’t eaten yet.
Entering the kitchen, she indeed saw that the dishes were set out, still steaming. Jiang Xue washed her hands and carried the food to the living room.
"Dad, Mom, let’s eat." Jiang Xue invited her father-in-law and mother-in-law to eat, while she intended to take Little Reunion and bring him to the room to feed him.
"Xue’er, let me hold the child. You eat first, and after you finish, you can switch with me." Bai Yuhua said as she held the child, not handing him to Jiang Xue.
Jiang Xue appreciated Bai Yuhua’s kindness. So, she didn’t stand on ceremony, sat down, and started eating right away.
She did, however, speed up her eating. After finishing her meal and putting down the bowls and chopsticks, she took Little Reunion and brought him back to the room.
Little Reunion was also hungry. As soon as they returned to the room, he started looking for food. Jiang Xue watched and laughed, then quickly took the child into the space while her in-laws were still eating.
Once in the space, Jiang Xue asked Little Fox to get some bamboo marrow. Little Reunion’s eyes brightened when he saw the food. He hugged the bottle and drank large gulps.
Jiang Xue wanted to confront the Little Fox, but then thought about not closing the room door; if her in-laws came in, it wouldn’t be good.
So, she temporarily let the Little Fox go and carried the child out of the space.
Shortly after coming out, she heard footsteps; Bai Yuhua had finished eating and was tidying up the dishes.
Fortunately, she had brought the child out of the space, otherwise Bai Yuhua would have noticed no one was in the room as she passed by.
Jiang Xue breathed a sigh of relief, then, holding the child, left the room.
Mu Siwu was having tea after eating, saw Jiang Xue come out, and thus asked, "Xue’er, did you get lost today?"
Otherwise, going from the village to the mountain behind wouldn’t take so much time. Moreover, Jiang Xue returned empty-handed.
Seeing Mu Siwu asking her, Jiang Xue felt a bit embarrassed, hesitated, and said, "Dad, I actually went looking for Qian Cheng."
"Looking for Qian Cheng? So, is Qian Cheng in the mountains?"
"Yes, Dad. Qian Cheng and his team are training in the mountains. I heard about it and specifically went to find him."
"Did you find him?"
"Found him."
Mu Siwu didn’t speak further, but Bai Yuhua, upon hearing the last sentence, asked, "What are you two talking about, what did you find?"
Jiang Xue saw Bai Yuhua asking and had to recount her trip to find Mu Qiancheng. Bai Yuhua listened, looked at Jiang Xue, unsure what to say.
Finally, she just said, "You child, this is such an important matter, why didn’t you say something to us."
"Mom, I’m sorry, I’ll pay attention next time."
"Alright, don’t say anymore, it’s fine as long as Xue’er is back safe." Mu Siwu spoke up, and Bai Yuhua then stopped talking.
Seeing everything settled, Jiang Xue took the child back to the room. Entering the room and closing the door, she and Little Reunion went into the space.
Seeing Jiang Xue come in, Little Fox knew Jiang Xue might want to confront it about something, so it made an excuse and slipped away.
Jiang Xue watched Little Fox’s departing figure and couldn’t help but chuckle. Although this little creature wasn’t very reliable, she did meet Mu Qiancheng, which was a pleasant surprise for her.
She wondered what Mu Qiancheng was doing at that moment. Although they had just been apart, Jiang Xue felt like it had been a long time, and wondered when she’d see him again.
