Chapter 243: Chapter 243: Cheng Li Visits
Jiang Xue placed the baby bottle into Little Reunion’s hands, watching him hold it tightly before she had the chance to invite Mr. Mu and the others for dinner.
The boiled fish slices were Jiang Xue’s specialty, and since Father Jiang could handle a bit of spice now, the taste was significantly better than the last time they had it.
Mr. Mu also enjoyed spicy food, so today’s dish was very much to his liking.
The dish tasted good and suited his palate, so Mr. Mu couldn’t help but eat more. If it weren’t for Housekeeper Lin keeping an eye on him and reminding him, he would probably have continued eating.
Jiang Xue was a bit surprised to see Mr. Mu eat so much. She advised him for a while and promised to cook for him more often in the future, finally convincing him to stop eating.
After the meal, Jiang Xue and Mrs. Jiang tidied up the dishes, while Mr. Mu did eat quite a bit, so Housekeeper Lin took him downstairs for a walk to aid digestion.
Little Reunion also wanted to go, so Jiang Xue had no choice but to let Mrs. Jiang handle the chores alone while she accompanied Little Reunion and Mr. Mu for a walk downstairs.
The neighborhood had a nice environment, with a small garden downstairs, so they all went for a walk in the garden.
After several laps, Mr. Mu’s stomach felt less bloated, and seeing that it was getting late, he proposed to say goodbye to Jiang Xue.
Jiang Xue didn’t insist on them staying. Although they had a guest room, it couldn’t compare to the comfort of a large hotel bed.
However, as he was leaving, Mr. Mu said that he would return in a few days. Jiang Xue smiled and agreed.
After Mr. Mu left, Jiang Xue returned home. Upon arriving, Mrs. Jiang had already cleaned up and was planning to return to the adjacent apartment to rest with Father Jiang.
Jiang Xue escorted her parents back next door, then returned to her own home, bathed Little Reunion, and then took a bath herself before they both went into the space to rest.
The next morning, Jiang Xue got up early, practiced for a while, then left the space and went to the market to buy food for the day.
By the time she returned with the groceries, Mrs. Jiang had breakfast ready. After eating, Jiang Xue had nothing particular to do, so she stayed home, reading and writing, enjoying a leisurely time.
However, around midday, the sound of knocking came. Jiang Xue realized it was on her parents’ door next door, so she frowned and intended to check who it might be.
After all, they had only moved to this city a few days ago. They hadn’t met anyone, and their relatives didn’t know where they lived.
Jiang Xue opened her door and saw the person knocking. Surprise crossed her eyes, and then, thinking of something, her face darkened.
It was none other than Cheng Li.
Initially, after the incident in the town last time, Jiang Xue thought Cheng Li would stay quiet for a while. But unexpectedly, she had found her way here.
Jiang Xue had speculated how Cheng Li found her, assuming she had gotten help from someone, unaware that Cheng Li had followed her and discovered this place.
As Jiang Xue opened her front door, Mrs. Jiang also opened the door next door. Upon seeing Cheng Li, she was equally surprised and coldly asked, "Why is it you?"
Mrs. Jiang had lost all fondness for Cheng Li. She thought that after the last incident, Cheng Li wouldn’t appear in front of them anymore.
But seeing her now was shocking and unexpected.
Logically, Cheng Li and Jiang Xue had fallen out, so she should not be returning to their doorstep. But she did find them and their new home.
Although Mrs. Jiang was a rural woman, she wasn’t foolish and immediately became wary of Cheng Li.
