Chapter 1739: Shaman magic (2)

Chapter 1739: Shaman magic (2)

"Shaman magic?" I couldn’t help repeating in a confused voice.

"That’s right, shaman magic." The orc said in a natural voice as if this was common knowledge.

Seeing this, I turned to look at the others to see if I was the one that was wrong.

But that wasn’t the case as it seemed like no one else knew what the orc was talking about.

This shaman magic should be a special form of magic that was unique to the orcs, but the orcs rarely interacted with others in the first place. So when it came to the people that they interacted with, this was something that was treated as common.

At the same time, it meant that this became common knowledge for them and they expected everyone to know this.

It was just that anyone who wasn’t an orc wouldn’t actually know about this.

That was why we had no idea what they were talking about when they mentioned this "shaman magic".

Seeing that we looked back at them with confused looks, the orc finally explained, "It’s magic that the shaman of our tribes cast using the power of our ancestors."

The others still looked confused, but I immediately understood the moment that I heard the last part.

"Power of their ancestors." I repeated in my mind while thinking about something else.

The ancestors of the demi humans became local gods through the power of faith from their descendants.

That meant that this shaman magic that the orcs used should follow a similar principle.

It’s just that it was different since they were drawing on it through a form of magic.

In a sense, shaman magic could even be considered holy magic since it was pulling on the power of a god.

But I knew that it was different from holy magic.

After all, the ones that this magic came from were anything but ’holy’. At the same time, if someone were to call them ’holy’, there was no doubt that they would deny this with all of their might.

In the end, I didn’t ask anything else about this shaman magic.

I could already see that these orcs didn’t know that much about this shaman magic in the first place, so there was no reason to ask.

Not to mention that if I were to ask too many questions, the only thing that would happen is that I would attract suspicion from the orcs.

It was better to wait to ask these questions to the ones that knew more about this and to wait until I had more trust from the orcs.

After following the orcs for a bit, we arrived at what seemed to be a makeshift shelter.

But at the same time, it didn’t seem like a makeshift shelter with the way that the orcs made themselves at home like this.

Not to mention that from the knowledge that I had from the game, I knew that this was the normal living conditions of the orc.

As for the situation of the orcs that were gathered here, I naturally had no idea what was happening.

But one thing that I had to take note of was the number of orcs that lived in this place.

It seemed much bigger than just a makeshift shelter. It seemed even bigger than what a town of orcs would have.

It was better to say that this was a city of orcs rather than a settlement.

Once we were led over by the orcs, there was another group of orcs that came over to meet us.

However, these orcs were different from the orcs that came out to fight with us.

This was a group of old orcs that were clearly the elders of this place.

Yet even though they were elders, that didn’t mean that they were weak.

The older a ginseng was, the spicier it was.

That was the best way to describe these orcs.

After coming forward, one of them who was wearing a cloak asked, "Who are these people, why have you brought them here?"

This question was clearly aimed at the orc who led us here.

When this question was asked, that orc didn’t hesitate to give the answer that I had given previously and explained everything.

When he was done, the older orcs looked at us with narrowed eyes as if they were scanning us.

But in the end, the orc in the cloak asked, "An enemy of an enemy is a friend and since you’ve helped our people take care of the threat outside, that means that you don’t mean any harm to us right now."

Then in a sharper voice, he said, "But there’s something off about you that I can’t put my finger on that makes it hard for me to trust you."

All of the others in my group looked at this cloaked orc with a strange look, but I revealed a wry smile since I had already guessed what the reason was.

I might not have been able to guess it if I hadn’t heard what the orc said about shaman magic before, but now I could guess what it was because I knew what shaman magic was.

As if he was explaining for the other orcs, the cloaked orc added, "Not to mention that I don’t think that you would be able to do anything with just this small group that came with you. However, I can also guess that you wouldn’t come here alone, so that means that there should be others that came with you. Where would they be?"

Once the cloaked orc said this, there were wary looks that were cast in our direction.

Even the younger orcs that had guided us here also looked at us with wary looks.

I didn’t panic seeing this as I just said, "How about we sit and talk about this? I’m sure that there are many questions that you have, but this kind of matter needs to be discussed slowly and thoroughly."

The cloaked orc hesitated for a second, but he nodded in agreement in the end before turning around.
