Chapter 1735: You can lead instead
"The black tide that they mentioned, it can only be that same array."
That was the consensus that everyone came to as soon as we met.
Since we had already seen it happen before, it wasn’t hard for us to guess what the orcs meant by the things that they told us about.
However, it didn’t mean anything if we couldn’t reach the thing that was causing this black tide.
"With how long ago they said that it happened, there’s no doubt that this entire place is filled with corruption energy. It would be too hard for us to break through to the array at the center of this place."
As soon as this was said, everyone seemed to knit their brows.
Not a single person said anything since they knew that this was the truth.
There really wasn’t anything that they could do against this place that was filled with corruption energy.
Charging in would mean being surrounded by corruption energy monsters and all kinds of different things. As well, there were still those mutated orcs that roamed around this place, so there was no telling what else was there.
With the expression that was on everyone’s face, it really seemed like they were planning on giving up.
After all, if they couldn’t reach what they needed to stop, then it really didn’t seem like it was possible.
But there was still the problem of the forces of Destruction setting up in the land of the orcs. If they continued to set up like this, it was only a matter of time before they invaded the rest of the world.
If they left them like this, there was no doubt that this would be a disaster for the different races of the continent.
Only what could they do?
"We can’t just leave things like this."
Everyone looked at the one that spoke with a strange look.
After all, they didn’t expect this person to be the one that spoke up.
It was the general from the Democratic Union that was speaking up now.
Even now, it was strange that the Democratic Union was still so enthusiastic about this.
After all, they were the ones that had pulled out at any signs of danger. They were the ones that had always put their own benefit first.
It wasn’t as if the Democratic Union would have been the first ones hit if they were to leave the forces of Destruction in the land of the orcs. After all, the closest empire to this place was the Tide Empire.
With the Tide Empire as a buffer, it wasn’t as if they would really suffer until the forces of Destruction broke through them.
So for the Democratic Union to be this enthusiastic, it was clear that there was something else that they wanted.
Everyone looked at the Democratic Union with strange looks that didn’t seem to trust them, but no one said anything.
In the end, I was the one that broke the silence as I said, "It’s good to see that you’re this enthusiastic about this. I think that your Democratic Union should be the ones that lead the charge into the land of the orcs."
The general from the Democratic Union seemed surprised to hear this before narrowing his eyes to say, "Are you trying to send us all alone into the enemy territory?"
I just calmly looked right into his eyes before saying, "Of course not. I’m suggesting that your Democratic Union be the ones that lead everyone into enemy territory this time since you’re the ones that are so enthusiastic about this. I’m sure that you already have a plan to deal with the enemy."
This made it hard for the general from the Democratic Union to say anything.
It was clear that he didn’t actually have a plan, but it was also clear that he wanted to bring everyone into the land of the orcs for some reason.
So in the end, he said with a sigh, "Alright, then I’ll take this position."
After he said this, his eyes turned sharp again as he said, "What about your majesty then, what are you planning to do?"
"I will be leading a separate group to scout out the area around and feeding information back to you. I think that I will be the only one that will be able to fulfill such a role since I’m the only one that can actually take care of myself against the forces of Destruction."
There was nothing that the general from the Democratic Union could say since he knew that I was right.
After all, I was the one that had led the charge against the mutated orcs earlier.
"This isn’t proper. Since we’ll be entering the enemy territory, we should stick together."
"It isn’t my decision to make, it’s the decision of all of the different members of the racial alliance." I said immediately after he made this feeble excuse.
The general had an ugly look on his face, but there was nothing that he could say since he knew that I was right.
As such, he started trying to appeal to the others with words.
He was talking about how it was dangerous if I didn’t move with the main group.
It was just that no one seemed to care about what the general from the Democratic Union was saying.
They had long lost their influence in the racial alliance, so it would be strange if anyone listened to them.
Though there were a few looks of doubt that were cast in my direction after I said this.
They were wondering what I was planning to do to propose that the general from the Democratic Union would lead them.
But in the end, everyone voted in favour of this plan.
Since I was the one that proposed this, it was only natural that they would agree.
In the end, the general from the Democratic Union had no choice but to say, "Thank you for this trust. I will be sure to lead everyone properly."
Of course, no one actually cared about what he said.
