San Tian Liang Jue

Chapter 766 Dave's World (18)

Night deepened.

It was 7:28 PM. Autaku Town was still shrouded in thick fog. The only difference from daytime was that the streetlights had been turned on.

The increasingly cold and damp air made Feng Bujue's face and hands numb. He could only pedal faster to keep his body warm.

Although he still didn't know where the "Last Supper" would be held, he had an idea: the post office on the north side of the town square.

First, he could go there to report back to Nelson. Second, Nelson was currently the only NPC (non-player character) who could communicate with him normally and provide him with some help. (He couldn't go back to Shooter and Yang, and there wasn't enough time to write another letter to the Ghost Mailman. As for Mr. M and that woman with the ethereal voice...they were both elusive and impossible to find.) Third, there weren't many routes in this town. Unless he deliberately detoured, there was only one route from the hotel to the post office. So, this morning, Enoch must have taken this road as well. Following the same route might reveal what happened to him.

"After nightfall, the visibility is indeed getting lower and lower..." Brother Jue continued forward, using the light from the streetlamps. "Hmm...it suddenly feels nice that the street is so empty...at least I don't have to worry about running into...holy crap!"

Many things can't be mentioned, as the saying goes, speak of the devil...

Just as Feng Bujue was sighing, a rectangular black shadow suddenly appeared in the fog ahead, blocking the middle of the road.

The next second, with a clatter, the front wheel of the bicycle crashed hard into the object, and Brother Jue flew off the seat...

"What the f—" As he flew through the air, Feng Bujue yelled, his voice full of frustration.

Before the curse was finished, he had already fallen to the ground.

The fall was quite heavy. Brother Jue was stunned for a full thirty seconds before he could catch his breath. He roughly checked himself...his right arm was broken, his ribs were fractured, and he had bruises and contusions all over his body.

The only thing to be thankful for was that the road surface here was mostly dirt, and there were no stones or anything like that on the road. If he had fallen on a gravel road or concrete, it could have been much worse, and he might not have been able to get up at all.

"Ptooey..." Feng Bujue spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva (his lip was cut), sat up, and looked back.

He quickly recognized what he had crashed into...a hot dog stand.

"Parking in the middle of the road is really going all out!" Feng Bujue couldn't help but shout at the stand.

Whether it was the system's arrangement or a simple coincidence, Brother Jue had been running back and forth in the town all day today, but he hadn't passed this particular spot. If he had passed here during the day, he definitely wouldn't have crashed. Because the visibility was much better then, and he wasn't riding as fast as he was now.

"Wait...this doesn't seem to be a pushcart..." After a few seconds, Feng Bujue saw more clearly. He then noticed that the bottom of the hot dog stand wasn't wheels, but four metal supports stuck in the ground. "I was wondering...I flew so far, but the stand didn't even shake. So it's fixed to the ground."

Because time was tight and conditions were limited, Feng Bujue only sat on the ground for a minute before standing up again. His tolerance for pain was already astonishing, and this level of injury was not enough to hinder his actions.

After getting up, he used his left hand to put the satchel back on his back, picked up the shotgun that had fallen not far away, and walked towards the hot dog stand.

The stand had bread, sausages, and all kinds of seasonings and sauces needed to make hot dogs, but no vendor.

Feng Bujue didn't stand on ceremony. He put the gun on the table, grabbed bread and sausage with his left hand, and stuffed them into his mouth. After stuffing a lump of food into his mouth, he still used that left hand...to pick up the bottles of mustard, ketchup, and sweet chili sauce, and squirted a little into his mouth.

His method of eating was more disgusting than bold. Of course, his tolerance for disgusting things was also obvious. Examples like the spoiled sandwich and the excrement swamp will not be repeated here...

"Tch...it only recovered so little survival value..." After eating two hot dogs, Brother Jue glanced at his status bar and complained with dissatisfaction.

After that fall, his survival value had dropped below 30%. Eating the hot dogs only barely brought it back to 33%, which was undoubtedly a loss... However, the hot dogs also helped him recover nearly 500 points of stamina, so it wasn't a complete waste of a fall.

"Eh? What's this?" Just as Brother Jue was about to grab his gun and leave, he inadvertently saw something stuck on the edge of the hot dog stand's base.

After picking up the item, he immediately gave a dry laugh.

[Name: Enoch's Wisdom Tooth]

[Type: Story Related]

[Quality: Trash]

[Function: Unknown]

[Can be brought out of this scenario: No]

[Note: The owner of this tooth is an extremely stingy guy. One morning, he added too much mustard to his hot dog and ended up burning his tooth off. He immediately demanded compensation from the hot dog vendor, but was rejected and mocked by the vendor. Enraged, he secretly stole a bottle of salt from the vendor's stand.]

"What a dumbass!" Brother Jue cursed as soon as he finished reading the item description.

[Hidden quest completed] At the same time, the system voice rang in his ears.

Feng Bujue opened the quest bar and saw that [Investigate and solve the reason for Enoch's lateness] was checked off.

"Hey..." Brother Jue's mouth twitched as he said to himself, "So that works too...the reason he was late was because 'he's a dumbass'?"

Although he was complaining, he understood in his heart that the reason Enoch was late was because he had gotten into a dispute with the hot dog vendor after his tooth fell out.

"Oh well...in any case, the quest is completed." Feng Bujue said, throwing away the tooth and walking around the hot dog stand. "If the other two quests are as simple as this one, then it will be really easy and pleasant..."

Obviously, he was thinking too much.

This hidden quest was obviously the simplest of the three. As long as he found the relevant item, read the notes, and understood the meaning of the notes, it would be considered a success. But the next two would not be so easy...

…………

After leaving the hot dog stand, another fifteen minutes passed before a panting Feng Bujue finally arrived in front of the post office.

It was now 7:46 PM, only fourteen minutes left until 8:00 PM.

Because the front wheel of the bicycle had been damaged in the crash, Brother Jue had no choice but to abandon the bike and run the rest of the way.

It wasn't easy for him... Aside from his broken right hand, he had to endure the pain from his ribs and the swelling all over his body while running, and his left hand was carrying a rather heavy shotgun. Being able to arrive in fifteen minutes was already very fast.

"Haa...not much time left..." Brother Jue raised his hand to look at his watch as he entered the post office gate. "Hopefully, the location of that 'Last Supper' isn't far from here..."

He went straight to the second floor, heading straight for the director's office.

Knock knock knock—

At exactly 7:47 PM, Brother Jue knocked on that door for the second time today.

"Come in." Director Nelson inside the door immediately responded.

Before he finished speaking, Feng Bujue pushed open the door and walked straight to his desk. "Director, I have delivered all the letters."

"I know." Nelson replied. "I am very satisfied with your performance."

"I would like to ask you a question." Feng Bujue did not respond to the other party's praise, but continued quickly, "Do you know where the 'Last Supper' is being held?"

At this point, he didn't have time to beat around the bush with this NPC. He would ask whatever he needed to ask. Anyway...if the other party knew the answer, they would definitely understand the question.

"Oh...that..." Nelson's expression and tone did not change much. "What? Do you want to participate?"

"Yes." Feng Bujue replied in a very affirmative tone.

"In that case..." Nelson said, standing up from his chair.

"...Then you can come with us." Suddenly, someone took over Nelson's words and said the second half of the sentence that he had not yet spoken.

Feng Bujue heard the voice and turned around...

He saw that there was already another person at the door of the office...a woman wearing a white dress.

She had long hair, and her face was blurry. Her voice was very distinctive - even when heard from a close distance, it gave people a distant, ethereal feeling.
