San Tian Liang Jue
Chapter 366 Toy War (13)
Feng Bujue said, "Okay, then I won't interrupt. You guys chat." As he spoke, he made a zipping motion across his mouth with his right hand.
Over the next ten minutes, the two Transformers, the Lego Avengers, and the Prophet engaged in a lengthy and tedious negotiation.
The atmosphere of this conversation wasn't particularly tense, as the misunderstanding itself was easily explained. Basically, the Novel toys had stolen a batch of Lego bricks from here and assembled a team of helicopters themselves. If the Lego side bore any responsibility, it was their poor management of their resources. This was not something for Classic's people to criticize.
"So, Lego's neutral stance will not change, and Novel will pay the price for their transgression. This is already a matter of Lego versus Novel," Tony said near the end of the conversation, "As for the losses the Lego helicopters caused your forces, we can only express our regret."
"Hmm..." Jazz was silent for a few seconds, exchanged a look with Nightbeat, and then replied, "Alright, we'll pass these words on to Optimus Prime." He turned his head, faced Feng Bujue and Xiao Tan, and said, "Recruits, Nightbeat and I will return to the Legion Headquarters to report. You guys come back on your own after talking with the Prophet."
"Yes, sir," Feng Bujue replied, appearing very well-behaved at the moment, seemingly hoping the other party would leave quickly.
Jazz shrugged noncommittally and walked out the door with Nightbeat.
"Tony, you guys go out too," the Lego Prophet said at this time, "I want to talk to these two guests alone."
"Prophet, these two gentlemen seem very unfamiliar..." Steve cautiously reminded him, "Are you sure you want us all to leave?"
"Don't worry," the Lego Prophet replied, "These two won't resort to force against me, and I'm not afraid of threats anyway."
"Since you've said so… then fine," Tony responded for Captain America, patted Steve on the shoulder, and then they and the other Avengers left together.
After the door of the building closed again, the Lego Prophet spoke again: "Hello, Feng Bujue, Wang Tanzhi."
As soon as he heard the guy call out his name, Feng Bujue perked up, "Heh... Prophet is a prophet indeed, living up to the name. Logically, our names should only be known to a small number of toys in the Classic camp, and from the moment we entered this Lego city, Jazz and Nightbeat have never mentioned our names once, only calling us 'Recruits.' Under these circumstances, you address us like this... then the possibility is only..."
"Only two," the Lego Prophet continued, "First, I can obtain information directly from Classic through some means, such as wiretaps, spies, and the like." The diamond-shaped body paused, "Second, I have the ability to observe you from the data level."
Feng Bujue laughed, "Your reasoning is quite quick..."
"Likewise," the Lego Prophet replied.
Feng Bujue added, "Since you yourself have proposed these two hypotheses, then I think... there's about a 70% probability that it's the second situation." He crossed his arms in front of his chest and raised his head, "Furthermore, I have another hypothesis... you are not ordinary data."
"That's obvious," the Lego Prophet laughed, "This diamond-shaped brick polymer is just a carrier for me in this space. I myself am not here." He didn't conceal his identity and introduced himself, "I am one of the twelve jurors of the 'Court of Truth' – the Prophet."
"Why am I not surprised by this development at all..." Xiao Tan said with a twitch of his mouth.
"Then you must know what's going on in this war being waged in the supermarket, right?" Feng Bujue asked.
"This is not a supermarket, but a prison," the Prophet's tone was not joking.
"The toys are all prisoners?" Feng Bujue followed the other party's train of thought.
"Yes, and all are serving life sentences," the Prophet replied, "Of course, they weren't originally toys. These prisoners may have been office workers, students, hooligans, millionaires, athletes, murderers, actors, and so on. After coming to this prison, their memories and ideologies are adjusted. As for 'personality,' as a value that cannot be corrected, it can only be retained. So they are usually turned into toy characters that are closest to their temperaments."
"So... the Donkey Kong from Nintendo is actually Sorachi Hideaki from some universe?" Feng Bujue said casually.
"Hmph... how could that be?" the Prophet replied in a relaxed tone, "The ape transformed from Sorachi Hideaki would only be swinging on tires at most. Donkey Kong has to be transformed from someone of Takenori Akagi's level."
"Hmm... indeed," Feng Bujue responded, touching his chin, "But... Kondo Isao also seems to..."
"Hey! Why do you have to bring up those inexplicable things when people are seriously explaining the inside story of the plot!" Xiao Tan couldn't help but complain from the side, "What's the point of discussing which character's transformed ape is stronger! Besides, the two people besides Sorachi Hideaki are fictional characters anyway!"
"I see..." Feng Bujue suddenly said seriously, "No wonder these toys can't say the reason for the war, nor do they care about the flaws that might be discovered by humans."
"Mind adjustment is a very practical technology," the Prophet continued, "It can effectively limit the thinking of the adjusted person without destroying their ability to think." He paused and explained, "There are many blind spots in the minds of those prisoners that cannot be entered. To use a metaphor, it's like 'a color that doesn't exist in your cognition at all.' You can't imagine it at all before you see it with your own eyes, and even if you do see it, you don't know what to call this color."
"You two get into and out of character too quickly!" Xiao Tan shouted, "It's like the previous discussion about apes never happened! You instantly returned to the previous topic with a straight face!"
Brother Jue and the Prophet still ignored him and continued their conversation.
"Then... what are the supermarket security guards? Prison guards?" Feng Bujue asked again.
The Prophet sneered for a while, "The night shift security guards here start work at eight o'clock and patrol every three hours. It's only a little over ten minutes until two o'clock in the morning. You can go and see for yourselves what 'they' really are..."
"Wait!" Xiao Tan was still trying to interrupt, "I have a question too! Since this is a prison, why is it set up like this? What's the point of turning the prisoners into toys and making them fight for no reason?"
"This is not surprising. I've seen even stranger settings..." Feng Bujue couldn't help but recall the corridor that imprisoned Billy, Rabbit, and Alden.
The Prophet responded to Xiao Tan's question this time: "The duty of the Court of Truth is to supervise, judge, and imprison. In the 42 known main universes, all high-intelligence life forms are within our jurisdiction. There are many very powerful prisoners among them who must be imprisoned separately, and sometimes prisons even have to be specially designed for them." He paused for two seconds and then added, "And this prison where you are at the moment is a place to imprison ordinary prisoners. There are thousands upon thousands of them, making them extremely difficult to manage..."
"But as long as you keep them busy, it becomes much easier," this time Feng Bujue snatched the Prophet's lines, "Every night, they are engaged in a war that they 'can't win, and can't finish.' Although there will be casualties, new prisoners will be constantly turned into toys and added to their ranks...
War is an activity that requires absolute involvement from its participants. It can make these prisoners rack their brains and exhaust themselves. They have no time to think about other things, and they have no time to do other things. As toys, they are busy in the limited areas in the middle of the supermarket every night. No one would think... I want to climb out of the window and leave this supermarket."
"Won't this kind of confinement produce a few exceptions?" Xiao Tan asked doubtfully.
"The key still lies in the so-called 'mind adjustment'," Feng Bujue replied, "When those toys think about the question 'Why am I fighting this war,' it's as if you are thinking about 'What is the meaning of life.' Obviously, you won't get a definite answer, but you won't stop living because of it. Similarly, the toys can't say why they are fighting this war, but they will still continue to fight."
"Ha... very sharp indeed," the Prophet laughed, "Feng Bujue, you truly deserve to be the man who helped Billy and the others successfully escape from prison."
As soon as Brother Jue heard these words, he felt that something was wrong, but he remained calm on the surface and tentatively replied, "What are you talking about... I don't understand..."
"Haha... don't be nervous. I'm on your side, otherwise I wouldn't have told you so much," the Prophet said, "You should still remember Rabbit, right? He and I are old friends. I'm very happy that he was able to escape from the Time Lord's prison."
When he said this, Feng Bujue remembered that Billy had said something like this... "Rabbit and his cousin were originally members of the jury, but they were convicted of contempt of court."
The Prophet sighed at this time and said, "Actually, when Billy and Alden were summoned to court for 'spreading chaos,' I also voted not guilty. But the final verdict... was still 'guilty.' So Rabbit and Bugs Bunny got a little out of control. Rabbit used a spinning kick on the jurors who voted guilty, and Bugs Bunny attacked the judge with shit balls (rabbit droppings are mostly spherical), and the scene was plunged into chaos."
"Hey... there's too much information..." Xiao Tan listened to this strange narrative, and his shock value inexplicably increased.
"Oh... so that's how it is," Feng Bujue seemed quite calm, "The final result was... Bugs Bunny took advantage of the chaos and drew a hole on the wall and escaped, while Rabbit was imprisoned in the Time Lord's prison along with Billy and Alden for contempt of court." As he said this, he had already clarified the timeline in his mind, "After that, the prison guard Samodier defected, met me, and was caught and sent back to Chewma Island. Billy and the others were repeat offenders, and this time the guard was Faust. Later... they escaped successfully again because of meeting me."
"Yes, that's exactly it," the Prophet replied.
"Are we really playing the same game..." Xiao Tan looked at Feng Bujue with an inexplicable look of awe. The degree of Brother Jue's strength in his mind reached another peak.
Feng Bujue asked, "Judging from what you said earlier, the supermarket security guards are not the guards here. Could it be that you are?"
"No, I'm just a more enthusiastic bystander," the Prophet replied, "I use this 'Lego Prophet' identity to control the neutral Lego forces to maintain the balance and intensity of the war." He smiled, "What I do is actually very simple, just 'talking' is enough."
"Hmph... it seems that the people from Classic didn't wrong you," Feng Bujue guessed the meaning behind the other party's laughter in just one second, "Novel's successful theft of the bricks must have been due to your deliberate leak of information."
"Hehe... it's a pity you're a traveler from another world, otherwise I would really like to recommend you to join the jury," the Prophet laughed, "We happen to have a vacancy right now." His words basically acknowledged Brother Jue's deduction.
Feng Bujue wasn't very interested in the Prophet's proposal. He continued to ask about the information he wanted to know, "The previous topic isn't over yet. Since you said that the supermarket security guards are not the guards, and you are not the guards, then who is the guard of this prison? Where can I find him?"
The Prophet replied, "Are you in a hurry to find him for something?"
"Yes," Feng Bujue said in a very ordinary tone, "I want him to help me end this war."
Upon hearing this, the Prophet hesitated obviously for a few seconds. The surface of the diamond-shaped body fluctuated extremely violently at that moment, "Mr. Feng Bujue, you should be clear that whether it's me or that guard, our duty is to ensure that this war can continue endlessly."
"Aren't you a bystander?" Feng Bujue's eyes became cold and sharp. He said in a deep voice, "Where does the word 'duty' come from?"
These words caused the diamond-shaped body to fall into silence.
At the same time, the building they were in began to change... Every brick on the walls and floor was restless and agitated like a living thing.
"Hey... what's going on with this atmosphere?" Xiao Tan exclaimed, "The speed at which you guys went from having a pleasant conversation to falling out is a little too fast..."
"You told me nine parts truth just to mix in one part of illusion," Feng Bujue said with a sneer to the diamond-shaped body, "But the more information I know, the more those doubts stand out, making it impossible for me to ignore..."
