Chapter 351: Should I start calling you brother-in-law already?

"Thank you so much for helping her, bro." Blood Wraith stammered before sneaking another glance at his sister.

The sight of her wrapped securely in Damon’s robe only deepened his delusions. Ah, this is fate. She resisted every man in the world, but she finally found someone worthy. And it’s big bro, no less!

Damon ignored the weird look on his face and set Phoenix down against a boulder near the mine’s entrance. He adjusted the robe around her once more, ensuring her exposed skin was covered.

For a fleeting second, he caught the vulnerable side of her face, calm, almost fragile without the fire in her eyes and she looked even more beautiful. He straightened, turning to Blood Wraith.

"She’ll be out for a while. Guard her properly."

Blood Wraith immediately stood at attention, puffing his chest. "Leave it to me! Not even a fly will get close to sis!" He smacked his chest with determination, though his next words ruined the effect. "Also... should I start calling you brother-in-law already, or is it too early?"

Damon gave him a deadpan look.

Blood Wraith saw his face and nervously laughed. "Ahaha... too early! Way too early! Forget I said anything!"

"This is going to be a nightmare when she wakes up..." Damon mumbled as he walked away back into the entrance of the mine. He raised his hand to touch the wall when he realized that he still had the wet sticky liquid on his hand.

Thanks to his enhanced primordial senses he was able to smell it even at this distance. This was the first time he had smelled something like this and an embarrassed expression appeared on his face which he quickly wiped away, ironically with the same hand.

"Shit." He then conjured a small orb of flame, scorching the substance away in an instant. "Fuck it. Focus." He snapped out of it and focussed on the mine again. Elina slithered close to him, waiting for his next order. Seeing her, Damon suddenly had an idea.

He was not doing the snake any favor by simply holding her in the summoning space all the time. In fact, at this rate, she was going to fall behind and no longer be as useful to him. He either needed to spend the time and level her up and nurture her like a beast master would do or he needed to let her go.

Damon didn’t feel that he had the time right now to personally nurture her but seeing this mine gave him an idea. He could leave Elina behind to guard this place for the time being.

Beasts had the ability to absorb mana cores directly and strengthen themselves. Their way of intuitively feeling the element and using the elemental powers was a little different. Their path of evolution was also different when compared to other races, particularly the humanoid ones.

Both paths had their own advantages and disadvantages and one path couldn’t really be deemed better than the other.

This mine here could potentially be a wonderful opportunity for Elina. The snake would have all the mana reserves that she would need and she would be able to hunt the other beasts in the forests nearby and quickly become stronger.

At the same time, she would also be able to guard the mine and allow it to mature more. He would be able to sense immediately if she was in any danger and Blood Gate could bring him here in a few seconds. It was a win-win situation.

Damon walked closer and patted the huge snake on its head. She had a fiery aura around her but that did not hurt Damon at all. In fact, the shiny crimson yellow scales were cool to his touch. Not because they were naturally cool but because the snake was adeptly manipulating her flames.

"Aren’t you a talented little girl!" He rubbed her head.

The serpent rumbled low in her throat, tilting her head into his hand as though savoring the rare affection. "Grow strong, little snake. Eat whatever you want and become as powerful as you can. I will come and get you once I am done with some things."

Elina hissed. Her tongue flicked out, tasting the mana-rich air, and her coils tightened with excitement. She understood. This place was hers now. With a ripple of motion, she slithered away from him, vanishing into the deeper tunnels where the mana was richer.

"You are way too eager!" Damon smiled.

He cast one last look at the mine and then walked out of the entrance once again, heading back to Blood Wraith and Phoenix. It looked like Phoenix was still out of it, so he chatted with Blood Wraith for a bit and then summoned a Blood Gate back to the throne room of the Blood Hall.

His money problem was still staring at his face and it looked like he had no other choice except to take the plunge and do the thing that he needed to do. Who the hell was he kidding. His brain was begging him to think rationally but a part of him wanted to do this badly.

He had set up schemes and scenarios where the super ten were going to get fucked at least a little bit but it was not nearly enough. He wanted to personally fuck with the assholes who dared to touch his family.

There was also Aiden.

Why not use this chance to apply some poison to the blow which he had already planned for them? Of course, before doing this, he needed to do some experiments of his own. He had an inkling already but he needed to confirm it.

If what he thought was indeed correct, then he could exponentially increase their losses. He wouldn’t have just stabbed them in the heart. He would also be twisting the knife and making them feel even more pain.

Damon grinned in excitement. He headed to the training room in the Blood Hall, just an ordinary one this time and then started. He began his experiment by spitting on his hand and then focussing on that spit. Not to make it stronger. He wanted to make it weaker.
