Chapter 312: Nostalgia and Fury
Lily then glanced over at Luna who was observing her potion with newfound curiosity. Stating that its taste changed based on the user was a curious concept that she couldn’t quite wrap her head around.
Lily however was more curious about how it would taste to her. So without waiting another second, she threw her head back and downed the bottle in one go.
She regretted it immediately.
It was a taste that she missed so much and no matter how much money she had, she would never be able to taste it again.
It was her mothers cooking. More specifically it tasted exactly like the last root beer float that she had shared with her mom before she died. She used to make Root beer floats with a dash of cinnamon and crushed candy cane, her mom’s supposed ’secret’ ingredients to make the drink more delicious.
However, once her mom died,, the drink never tasted the same no matter what she tried. The unexpected nostalgia brought a tear to her eyes as she glanced at Luna who also had tears streaming down her face.
The bottle in Luna’s hand cracked slightly as she failed to suppress her rising emotions. The liquid in the bottle had tasted exactly like her fathers cooking. It wasnt anything fancy nor was it even her favourite food. It was her dad’s favourite: Almond Crunch. It was a weird drink that made use of milk, sugar and blended almonds.
Back then she had thought it was weird and she had on occasion turned her dad down when he offered to make it for her. Now she would trade almost anything to share just one more cup of that with him and hear his laughter again.
Lily wiped at her eyes and let out a quiet breath before glancing back at her pedestal. That was when she noticed something she hadn’t seen earlier.
A single earring.
It was silver, shaped like a curling vine with a soft blue crystal resting in the center. She picked it up, feeling a soft pulse of warmth spread through her fingertips. It didn’t feel like ordinary equipment. It felt personal.
She turned her head instinctively toward Luna’s pedestal.
There it was. The other earring.
The design was mirrored, clearly intended to match the one she now held. Her heart gave a small, quiet flutter. These weren’t meant to be worn together. They were meant to be shared.
She looked at Luna and saw the tears still clinging to her friend’s lashes. The sight made something tighten in her chest, but also steadied her. Without saying anything, she stepped over and gently picked up the second earring. She placed it in Luna’s hand, curling her friend’s fingers around it.
Luna looked down at it, then back at Lily. She didn’t ask any questions. She didn’t need to.
They clipped the earrings on at the same time.
A faint glow passed between them, soft and brief, like a whisper.
They had always stood side by side. In that moment, the earrings simply made it official.

Luna blinked slowly, her fingers brushing over the smooth crystal. She opened her mouth to speak, but the words caught in her throat. Instead, she gave a small nod, her lips trembling into the faintest smile.
Lily met her eyes and gave a small smile back, her own emotions still close to the surface.
The earrings hummed softly between them. It was a quiet reassurance, a thread of connection they could feel even without speaking.
Luna finally found her voice. "We really are best friends, huh?"
Lily let out a small laugh, wiping her face again. "We always were. This just proves it."
They both then turned their attentions back to the last thing on their respective pedestals: The skillbooks. Lily’s glowed with a faint green ethereal light while Luna’s....reeked of death and battle.
Lily picked up her book and opened the cover, her eyes widening in shock as she learned an unexpected skill.
Nurture
Passive Skill
Class Restrictions: Beast Tamers. Druids
Level Requirement: 20+
Effect: Decreases the Time needed to hatch Pet Eggs and Accelerates the Growth of Pets under your care or command.
It was clearly a skill that would help both Moku and the other unhatched child that resided in the egg she had received at that mysterious pond. Thinking of it in an even more positive way, it was like she was slowly learning to be like her mother. She happily learned the skill as a flood of warmth entered her body in a steady stream.
Luna on the other hand had a complicated expression on her face as she felt an extreme anger coming from the pages of her book. The name only added to the feeling that this was a skill meant for battle....and rage.
Boiling Blood
Active Skill/Toggle
Cost: 1%HP every 5 Seconds
Level Requirement: 20+
Class Restrictions: Beserkers
Effect: +20% Attack Speed, +10% Attack Power, +20% Movement Speed, -10% Defence.
Luna hated to admit it but the skill fit her perfectly to a tee. Additionally, if she made good use of her lifesteal ability, the cost of the skill could essentially be ignored. The downside though was that by using the skill, she would go from a reliable damage dealer into a burst one with lower survivability. It would further the burden on their already weak healing lineup.
Leo couldn’t be their healer forever. As thoughts on how to incorporate the skill into her repetoire, Crystal was off to the side talking to the God who resided in her body. A dark shadow was beginning to hover over her as Eisvir offered her another choice.
