Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Lin Mubai’s Expectations
The secretary had just counted to ten in her mind when she saw Mr. Angry who had stormed into the office now standing in front of her. She stood up nervously, "General Manager, is there something you need?"
"Where’s Lin Mubai?"
"The president has already left for the day."
"Damn it."
In the next moment, under the secretary’s fearful gaze, Han Xiayang turned away angrily and returned to his office. He took some change from the drawer and left the office.
Now he was heading to find those two deceitful fellows, to make the biggest one take back his words and retrieve his car keys, wallet, and phone from the smaller one. The thought of having to run to the airport today made him feel like coughing up blood.
He was so starving but didn’t want to eat anything. The only thing he wanted to do was catch up on sleep, which seemed like the biggest luxury in the world now. It’s not that he couldn’t just find a random hotel to sleep at, but he had this darn habit where he could only fall asleep in his own bed when he was really tired and sleepy; anywhere unfamiliar would leave him sleepless.
Such a person can explode with good luck.
At the door of An Nan’s house, he pressed the doorbell for ages without anyone answering. Han Xiayang felt he was exactly that kind of person. At this moment, he nearly cried out, "Damn it, could it be that no one’s home?"
Indeed, there was no one at An Nan’s house at the moment. Just half an hour earlier, Lin Mubai had left work early and came home to a scene where a big and small pair of mother and son were cuddled on the sofa. In front of them lay a large coffee table covered with snack bags — everything from instant noodles to chips, bread, and chocolate.
"What’s going on?" He frowned as he walked into the home.
The little guy who had been lying lifeless on the sofa perked up like he had seen his savior. He quickly stood up and ran towards him, pitifully raising his head and continuously muttering, "I’m hungry, I’m hungry, I want meat, I don’t want those crappy things," pointing at the empty snack bags on the coffee table with his tiny finger.
Letting out a snicker, Lin Mubai laughed, his light smile melted the cold aura he had carried all day at the office, becoming radiant and attractive. The little woman on the sofa stared blankly at his face, forgetting to continue eating her snacks.
Lin Mubai walked towards the sofa while removing his jacket, saying to the big and small pair in the living room, "The fridge is out of groceries. We have two options tonight — either eat out or go to the supermarket for a big haul. What’s your choice?"
The mother and son duo exchanged a quick glance upon hearing Lin Mubai, and in the next moment their responses came in unison, "Let’s go to the supermarket."
Lin Mubai continued to nod with a faint smile, "Alright, then go back to your room now, change clothes, and grab anything you need. I’ll wait for you."
"Yes, sir." They again responded in unison with mischievous voices.
As the two disappeared from the living room, Lin Mubai’s smile deepened unconsciously, while a hint of light anticipation grew within him. Normally, he would instruct someone to shop and deliver the groceries directly, but just now, seeing this big and small pair, his first reaction was to experience this slice-of-life moment himself; it seemed quite heartwarming.
Very soon, the big and small duo appeared from the room, having changed their clothes.
