Chapter 35: Village

Ran:

"Oooh..." I woke up from my sleep, raising my hands toward the sky with a long sigh.

I removed the blanket to get up from the bed toward the room’s door, opened it, and went to the toilet. I did my business and returned to my room.

I took off my sleepwear and put on my outdoor clothes. I stood in front of the mirror brushing my short green hair that reaches my neck, cut evenly. With pale green eyes and long ears ending in sharp edges.

I was wearing a short green skirt and a white shirt buttoned in the middle. There were no amazing curves or anything like that, just two cups of coffee on my chest covered by white fabric.

After brushing my hair and checking it, I went to one side of the room to take my bow and arrow case, then placed them on my back.

"Surely that idiot is still sleeping. I have to hurry or we’ll be late and get scolded." I went down the wooden stairs to the lower floor to find my dear mother doing chores in the kitchen.

Breakfast was placed on the table.

"You woke up, Ran, come eat breakfast, it will get cold." My mother turned toward me, wiping her hands from the water with a towel.

"Sorry, Mom, but I don’t have time, I’m late." In truth, I wasn’t late, but I didn’t have time to eat. I had to wake her up. I know her well; she loves to sleep.

"Thank you, Mom, I love you." I hurried to the door, opened it, and closed it.

"Ran..." sighed the mother.

I went out from the giant tree to the village street. The place was filled with green and light-green hair and sharp ears.

I walked along a stone-paved road toward my destination, which was my friend’s house. Along the way, I was greeted by uncles, aunts, and little children.

"Ah... Ran... how are you today?" One of my aunts greeted me today.

"Ran... Ran... come taste the apple pie I made today, it’s hot."

"Really?? Thank you, but I’m in a hurry today." I refused politely.

"You have training outside the village today... be careful." One of the old men showed worry toward me while sitting on a chair near his house door.

"Don’t worry, grandpa, I’ll take care of myself." I smiled at him lightly.

I found a group of little children playing together.

"It’s Sister Ran... Ran, come play with us..." One of the children with chubby cheeks ran toward me.

"Sister Ran... Sister Ran..."

"My cute little brother, I’m really busy today... next time, okay?" I patted his green-haired head gently and smiled warmly.

"Um..." sadness appeared on his face.

"Come on, little brother, let your big sister do her work." I pinched his small red nose.

He nodded in his place with a slight sparkle in his eyes.

"Good boy, your sister is proud of you." I stood up.

I left him behind and continued walking to reach the house I intended to visit.

After 10 minutes, I arrived at the house grown into a big tree. I stood in front of a door that had a circular ornament made of flowers and branches. I knocked several times.

I waited a bit until I heard footsteps and a feminine voice.

"I’m coming."

A young woman with long hair reaching the end of her back opened the door. She looked at me with her green eyes.

"It’s Ran..." She stepped toward me, opening her arms, and hugged me.

"Welcome, how are you?" she said while continuing to hug me.

"Auntie... you just saw me yesterday, why this sudden hug you always do?"

"Let me... how stingy you are, I missed you." said my aunt with annoyance.

"Alright... alright... we’re late, Auntie... we have training outside the village barrier today." I said with a sigh.

"Ah... you’re looking for Rin, she’s in her room sleeping." She left me in disappointment.

"Sleeping?" I said the word angrily. That girl never changes her habit no matter what.

"Auntie, did you know we have training outside the village today?" I smiled lightly, closing my eyes.

"No, I didn’t know... until you said it." She tilted her head, confused by my question.

That idiot is only good at things like this; my anger is rising.

"May I go to her room upstairs to wake her up?" I asked.

"Yes, of course... act as if it’s your home." She gave me space to pass and enter the wooden-style house. I advanced through the hallway until I reached the stairs and climbed up.

When I arrived at the next floor, I found many doors in the hallway. I knew this house well, so I chose the right door, the one with a pink heart in the middle written on it ’Rin’.

I opened the door without knocking and entered the room that had a feminine scent.

In one corner of the room was a bed, and in the bed lay my intended target, sleeping peacefully with a smile.

I approached the bed and looked at her.

"Rin... wake up, we’re late." I said softly so as not to scare her.

She turned and faced the wall as if she didn’t hear me.

"Riiiin..." I raised my voice a little.

"Umm... Mom, five more minutes... I promise you..." She grabbed her blanket to cover herself.

"Riiiiiinnn... it’s me, Ran... wake up, we have training outside the barrier today!" I stomped on the wooden floor and grabbed her blanket angrily, pulling it off to uncover her.

She got up quickly in fear. "What’s going on? What’s going on? An earthquake?"

"Ran??" After she gathered herself and in her confusion of what she imagined, she rubbed her eyes gently, and her long silky green hair dangled over her shoulders.

She moved her gaze toward me.

"Ah Ran... hehehe." She smiled a gentle and innocent smile as if admitting her mistake and trick.
