Chapter 84: Chapter 84: The Sea Is Just Too Terrifying, I Just Want to Go Home!
"Crazy Wil... No wonder he’s the kind of guy who’d even dare to punch a Celestial Dragon..."
Vivi’s expression was complicated, her heart quietly marveling.
Then, she couldn’t help but turn her head, glancing at the girl beside her who, at this moment, looked utterly harmless.
This person named Karina had just transformed into a cat with two tails.
And she could even spit scorching flames from her mouth.
This ability was strikingly similar to Perona’s, likely making her an Animal-type Devil Fruit user as well.
What Vivi hadn’t expected, however, was this:
When that man suddenly launched an attack on Wapol, Karina had, without a shred of hesitation, chosen to take on the other two.
And when she attacked, she held nothing back, clearly intending to take them out for good.
"Are the people on this ship always so reckless in everything they do...?"
Others might not know, but Vivi was well aware of Wapol’s identity.
For a kingdom’s king to be killed so casually at sea—this, to her, was just too insane.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t say much at the moment.
After all, if she opened her mouth and revealed Wapol’s identity, her own true identity would almost certainly be exposed as well.
Not to mention, she hadn’t even had the chance to speak earlier...
Seeing Vivi’s shifting expressions, Nami, standing nearby, took the initiative to walk over and pat her shoulder, offering a reassuring smile:
"Don’t worry, the three of us are actually really nice people, so we’d never treat you like that."
"Uh..."
Vivi, who hadn’t been thinking too deeply about it, suddenly felt a pang of unease at those words, forcing a slight smile:
"I understand. Those three guys were obviously bad news. Wil-san and Big Sis Karina did the right thing!"
"Good, as long as you get it."
Nami nodded, satisfied, and didn’t say more, casually strolling over to the gangplank of the other ship.
She followed Wil into the ship’s cabin, her heart quietly brimming with anticipation.
"Such a massive pirate ship—I wonder how much treasure’s hidden inside!"
Karina, watching this, shook her head helplessly.
She had to suppress her own urge to go treasure-hunting and stayed behind to keep an eye on Vivi and the ship.
Meanwhile, Wil, who had already ventured deep into the larger ship, effortlessly dispatched every kingdom guard he encountered along the way.
These people, who had chosen to flee the kingdom with Wapol, were clearly cut from the same cloth.
Wil pressed further inward.
Soon, he came across 20 individuals dressed in pink robes, wearing pink hats, white gloves, masks, and sunglasses, standing as if on standby.
Seeing these 20 people before him, Wil paused slightly, then seemed to recall something, his gaze turning thoughtful.
"These guys... they must be the 20 doctors Wapol handpicked, right?"
He remembered that during Wapol’s tyrannical rule over the kingdom, he had ordered the selection of the 20 most skilled and obedient doctors in the nation.
And then, he had either killed or exiled every other doctor to ensure these 20 were the only ones the citizens could turn to for medical care.
The reason Wapol did this was shockingly simple: he just wanted to see the people desperately begging him.
His sole motivation was, quite literally, for his own amusement.
"That’s got to count as pure evil, doesn’t it...?"
Wil mused to himself, a new idea forming in his mind.
Moments later, under the astonished gazes of Karina and Vivi on the ship, Wil, Nami, and the 20 doctors emerged from the larger ship’s cabin, hauling heaps of treasure.
Back on their own ship, Nami, beaming with delight, directed the 20 doctors to carry the treasure-filled sacks one by one into the ship’s treasure room.
Once their task was complete, the 20 doctors obediently returned to the deck, standing by for further orders.
Thankfully, when they’d purchased the new ship in Loguetown, they’d chosen a specially designed medium-sized sailing vessel to accommodate Wil’s larger frame.
So, even with 20 people on deck, it didn’t feel overly crowded.
"Wil-san, who are these people?" Vivi, seeing the bustle die down, finally couldn’t hold back her question.
Wil didn’t answer immediately. He picked up a glass of sherry from the nearby table, took a few sips, and then spoke: "You mean them?"
"They claim to be doctors from Drum Kingdom, saying they were brought along by their king when he fled to sea."
"Huh?! They escaped from a kingdom?" Vivi’s eyes widened, finding this hard to believe.
She couldn’t fathom what kind of situation would drive a king to abandon his people and flee.
Wil didn’t beat around the bush, explaining bluntly: "Yep. They said a group of powerful pirates invaded their kingdom before."
"And that king, Wapol, didn’t even dare face them."
"He immediately took these doctors, along with his loyal soldiers and followers, and fled the kingdom first."
"They left in such a rush they forgot to bring a Log Pose."
"So, they hoisted a pirate flag for self-preservation and have been drifting at sea for months."
"Until they had the ’luck’ to run into us just now."
The 20 doctors, hearing this, couldn’t help but swallow hard.
They never could’ve imagined that their cowardly king, who fled the kingdom in fear of those powerful pirates, would still end up dying at the hands of pirates after drifting at sea for so long.
"The sea is just too terrifying. I just want to go home!"
The 20 doctors shared this heartfelt lament in silent unison.
If they could safely return to Drum Kingdom, they could resume their medical research.
At that moment, Wil, as if reading their thoughts, suddenly spoke up:
"By the way, since we’ve unexpectedly picked up 20 doctors from Drum Kingdom, why don’t we figure out a way to head to that country first?"
If he hadn’t vaguely recalled that these doctors were also victims of Wapol’s oppression, he probably would’ve taken them out already.
Hearing this, the 20 doctors’ hearts surged with excitement.
But with their masks and sunglasses, their expressions were hard to read.
"Go to Drum Kingdom?" Vivi frowned. "But we don’t have a Log Pose or Eternal Pose pointing there. How would we get there?"
Wil was well aware of this and said thoughtfully: "From what these guys say, Drum Kingdom is covered in snow year-round, with freezing temperatures."
"So, I think we could start by looking at weather and temperature patterns, searching the nearby seas."
"An island with only winter, huh?" Nami mused, her expression pensive.
Vivi, hearing this, quickly chimed in: "Actually, from a meteorological perspective, the islands of the Grand Line can generally be divided into four types."
"Namely, ’Spring Islands,’ ’Summer Islands,’ ’Autumn Islands,’ and ’Winter Islands,’ each with its own seasonal variations."
"So, there are 16 standard seasonal patterns across the islands."
"Beyond that, some unique islands have many unknown weather phenomena."
"That makes sense," Nami said, her eyes gleaming as she followed up: "So, does the weather in the seas near these islands get affected by them too?"
