Bai Ye watched the news with an expression that screamed, "I knew it all along, I'm that awesome," utterly faking a deduction when he had actually experienced this before in his past life. He was fully aware of what the Batman and Commissioner Gordon were planning.
It was a trap, set to apprehend criminals who intended to hijack the transport vehicle and rescue the Joker.
In fact, Commissioner Gordon had even spent a considerable sum to acquire advanced technological weapons from an arms company called "Stark Industries."
The operation proved successful, with seven criminals apprehended.
However, Bai Ye wasn't particularly concerned. Had the forces of evil been weakened?
It was only seven individuals!
Judging by the number of Chosen Ones who entered the City of Sin, with three hundred participants divided into two factions, there were one hundred and fifty in each. Capturing just seven would hardly impact the overall situation.
Still, attempting to intercept the transport vehicle was a poor strategy. Not only would they face the elaborate plan of Batman and Commissioner Gordon, but even if they managed to rescue the Joker, they would be attacked by the forces of order and betrayed by their own allies within the sin faction.
The hundred points of sin value and the Joker's playing card were not easily obtained. Only one person successfully rescued the Joker, implying that even among the Chosen Ones of the sin faction, there was an inherent rivalry.
Of course, the forces of order were not without their own conflicts, as only one among them could earn the order points and the Bat-suit.
This was somewhat perplexing. The task for the forces of order was to prevent the Joker's escape. If the Joker failed to escape, it would mean all Chosen Ones of the order faction had succeeded.
But Bai Ye understood it differently. The Joker was destined to escape. Even if no one from the sin faction intervened, this outcome would remain unchanged; the Joker could escape the holding cell on his own. Therefore, while the mission for the order faction was to prevent the Joker's escape, it actually meant recapturing the Joker *after* he had escaped, rather than simply stopping someone from rescuing him.
Consequently, whoever successfully escorted the Joker back would be considered to have completed the mission.
Time ticked by. Looking out the window, the outside world appeared unremarkable, yet an oppressive atmosphere permeated the air.
A heavy pressure was building…
It felt like the calm before a storm.
Bai Ye reclined in his rocking chair, swaying gently. He appeared to be resting with his eyes closed, or perhaps he had fallen asleep.
"Help, help, help."
When the red capsule opened, Bai Ye was presented with a massive stone.
The stone was shaped like a great sword, roughly Bai Ye's height and nearly half a meter thick. Its hilt, made of rough, heavily scratched black iron, was at the top. Rust-stained chains were wrapped around the stone.
On the front of the stone, four characters were carved, filled with red paint.
Eternal Suppression of the Southern Wilderness!
