Chapter 146: Jack Kneels For Me. And He’s Definitely Not Praying

Jack was now under me. Not the way he would like.

By under, I mean he was now my subordinate along with Erect and Sexis.

He has Ninety Five loyalty points for me and that was a good number. I mean, it was at least higher than the loyalty of wives of old billionaires men. Even Erect had only Ninety.

Jack was more loyal than Erect at the moment. But that’s probably because he was filled with the guilt of betraying me. His loyalty would decrease overtime like Jews in the past. I am sure of it.

Anyway, he was still on his knees in front of me and I told him to get up since I forgave him and all. He then said he knew I would forgive him. I asked him that if he knew that I would forgive him then why the hell was he still on his knees?

His answer was:

"Because I like the submissive genre too."

And I am supposed to fight Malthus with this guy.

I shook my head.

"Get up, Jack. We have seriously wasted enough time."

Jack nodded and floated normally. He wasn’t on his knees anymore like an underpaid but ovulating geisha.

After that, we changed positions. Not the way Jack would have liked.

Before, my back was facing the burning guards. I literally risked burning to death for Jack’s character development. Or more like characterless development.

But now it was fine.

I held Jack’s dead body again which for some reason was still fine even after burning for all this time and the fire hadn’t spread enough for me to not be able to hold it from the back.

Jack was in front of the dead body and I was behind it.

With the preparations done, we were finally ready to leave this—promotional advertisement of hell—kind of place.

"Alright, pal. Make sure to hear everything clearly. Each guard is now burning and naked and no one is dead yet. They have some strong and thick skin with a big... nevermind that. I can’t be distracted. We are going to speedrun this shit. Keep your reflexes sharp. One late move and you will be on fire. Ready?"

I took a deep breath, calmed my nerves—just like a feminist on a date making an excuse for the bathroom before the bill arrives.

"Yes. I am ready. You just make sure to not get distracted. I know it’s hard for you in many ways but just focus on the path, not on the naked path walkers."

"Don’t worry, pal. I am locked in. I won’t look at the guards. Especially not at that green skinned guard with a mole on his left thigh near his crotch."

"... You described too well for someone not looking."

"Of course, pal. To know where one shouldn’t look, one should look there first."

"That almost made sense. And you are wasting time again. I thought you were loyal to me now."

"I am still loyal."

[ Yes. He is loyal to you. Just because he is now your ally or subordinate doesn’t mean his behaviour would change. This is not that story. You wouldn’t be called my lord by everyone who is under you. Jack is still Jack. ]

I see. What was I expecting anyway? Of course he is still the same.

"Alright, Jack. You are loyal. Now finally start telling me the directions. I am ready."

"Yes, yes. I’ll start in three seconds — that’s one second longer than I usually finish."

Jack gave the time limit and some other information and I readied myself for the hundredth time.

"One." He said.

I steadied my breathing.

"Two."

I squirmed my toes, leaned forward, ready to dash.

Then finally...

"Three! Run!"

I launched myself.

I ran instantly as soon as Jack spoke and I ran so fast that I passed through Jack himself. Haha. Slowpoke.

Wait... what?

I turned around my head, slowing my speed.

"Why are you just standing there?!"

Jack frowned. "What do you want me to do then?"

My eyes widened. "You are supposed to be in front of me and show me the way. How the fuck will I dodge the soldiers if I don’t know where they are!?"

"Shit. You are right. I forgot."

"You forgot!? Dude, did Malthus send you for me? Are you an assassin listed in the LinkedIn of dark web?"

"No, pal. I shouted run to you but before I could run, you ran past me. I didn’t know you were that eager to leave from here."

"Jack, don’t make me regret choosing you. Just come in the front and show me the way."

"Chill, pal. I am coming. You are acting like the cloth covering your face is on fire or something."

Jack shook his head, laughing as he floated towards me.

I stared at him in impatience like a fat woman looking at every waiter passing by her table as I tapped the floor with my feet constantly.

Jack also didn’t let go of my eyes but his calm face found some wrinkles on the corner of his eyes.

"What is it?" I barked.

"Um.. it’s just.." Jack hesitated before asking, "Why does it look like the cloth covering your face is really on fire right now?"

Huh?

I turned around.

Saw a light very close from the corner of my eye.

Then my eyes widened.

"It doesn’t look like it’s on fire, motherfucker! It is on fire!"

"Shit. Then that guard behind you must have done this. He is still holding one end of your cloth right now."

"What?"

I jerked my head around and my heart skipped a beat.

My eyes met a burning guard who had one tail of the cloth of my face on his hand.

He was fully burnt, he couldn’t even see, I am sure of it and yet he had my cloth on his hand. Out of all the things he could get hold of, his hand landed on my cloth!

Wait... Before that...

"Jack, you bastard! Why didn’t you tell me about this guard? What were you doing when he got so close to me?"

"He didn’t get close to you. You got close to him. You were telling me not to drool over naked men and yet you ran so fast towards one yourself. You ran so fast I didn’t even get to see what was going on."

"Anhgh. I can’t believe I made you my ally. You literally watched me getting held by a burning guard."

"I didn’t watch it, okay?"

"Then what were you doing?"

Jack looked at the ceiling. He thought for a while like he had all the time in the world, then eventually, he spoke:

"I was observing it."
