Ice Beam!
Bai Ye ran quickly through the corridor, pursued by a large white bird resembling a seagull.
The white bird opened its beak, and a silver-white beam of light shot out towards Bai Ye.
The next instant...
Crack, crack, crack!
The sound of freezing echoed as frost rapidly formed in the beam's path, encasing everything in ice.
Just then...
Bai Ye abruptly stopped and lunged back at the white bird.
"You group of beast tamers..." Bai Ye drew his Zanpakuto and swung it forward forcefully, "What are you doing joining the fray!"
Poof!
A flash of blade light!
Bai Ye seized the moment when the opponent's attack ended to launch a sudden assault. With a swift motion, blood splattered as the white bird fell to the ground.
Bai Ye let out a long sigh and sheathed his Zanpakuto.
The Xenomorphs and Predators were troublesome enough; now these beast tamers were showing up, which was quite a headache.
As Bai Ye mused, he continued forward, quickly reaching the door at the end of the corridor. He smashed the electronic lock with a punch, and the white sliding door automatically opened.
The next instant, the scene inside the room unfolded before Bai Ye, causing him to freeze for a moment, and then...
Bai Ye silently gripped the hilt of his Zanpakuto and stepped into the room.
As Bai Ye walked forward, his soles dragged through strands of blood because the room was filled with blood and corpses!
The manner of death for most was similar: pierced through the chest with a sharp object. Some corpses were incomplete, showing clear signs of gnawing.
It was easy to deduce that this was likely the work of Xenomorphs.
However, after a quick scan of the surroundings, Bai Ye found no traces of Xenomorph activity. It seemed they had left after the killing.
Bai Ye continued his assessment and moved towards the other end of the room.
The door was blocked by a corpse, slumped against it.
Without a second thought, Bai Ye raised his foot to kick the body aside. At that moment, a bulge suddenly appeared on the corpse's chest, swelling visibly like a balloon.
This sudden development startled Bai Ye, his foot suspended mid-air.
Then...
With a *poof*!
The corpse's chest split open, spraying a large amount of blood mixed with foul-smelling greenish fluid.
A Xenomorph, about the size of an arm, burst out of the corpse's chest and lunged towards Bai Ye.
Bai Ye reacted with extreme speed, dodging to the side. The small Xenomorph grazed his chest and slammed into the wall headfirst.
Upon landing, the small Xenomorph shook its head, seemingly dazed from the impact, and then...
Poof!
A playing card suddenly flew out, shattering the small Xenomorph's carapace and embedding itself in its back.
"Roar, roar, roar..."
The small Xenomorph let out a pained shriek, writhing uncontrollably as...
Poof, poof, poof!
The sound of air being torn filled the space as playing cards rained down from behind, embedding themselves densely into the small Xenomorph's back.
Once the small Xenomorph was unable to stand and could only struggle on the ground, Bai Ye stepped forward and brought his Zanpakuto down with force.
With a *poof*, the small Xenomorph was decapitated.
The headless small Xenomorph twitched on the ground for a while before finally ceasing to move, completely dead.
Xenomorphs were incredibly resilient, but this small one was clearly newly hatched, and its vitality, however tenacious, had its limits.
However, the appearance of the small Xenomorph made Bai Ye feel that things were becoming increasingly troublesome.
Because, the Xenomorphs had started to lay eggs!
This meant a surge in their numbers!
As expected, Bai Ye thought while pushing open the door and stepping into the corridor. He saw seven or eight corpses lying haphazardly on the ground. Their heads were enveloped by a spindly, eight-legged creature with a long tail extending from its rear, piercing into the corpses' mouths.
Bai Ye crouched down and pulled one of the creatures off. It was already dead.
"Facehugger!" Bai Ye murmured. "The Xenomorphs have indeed begun large-scale reproduction."
Facehuggers were the larval stage used by Xenomorphs for reproduction.
In reality, Xenomorph eggs did not contain Xenomorphs themselves but rather facehuggers. Xenomorphs did not hatch directly from eggs; instead, facehuggers hatched and sought out other life forms to infest. After a certain period, the facehugger would die, and the juvenile Xenomorph would emerge from the host's body, draining its life force. Upon gaining sufficient nutrients, it would burst from the chest.
The Predator Xenomorph in Mission Three of the Forbidden Zone was a result of a Predator being infested by a facehugger, thus giving birth to a Predator Xenomorph.
Therefore, Bai Ye had anticipated that Xenomorphs would nest and lay eggs in the research base, but even with the prediction, the reality still gave him a headache.
One Xenomorph was a vastly different matter from a swarm of Xenomorphs.
Moreover, this was the reason the Forbidden Zone mission was to escape the research base. If it were just a few Predators or a few Xenomorphs, it wouldn't have necessitated so many people fleeing.
Thus, the current problem was that Xenomorphs would use the people entering this place to lay eggs and hatch new Xenomorphs. The balance would shift, with Xenomorphs increasing and people decreasing. Not fleeing meant certain death.
Bai Ye pondered as he walked down the corridor. The sliding door ahead opened again, but at that moment...
A dark shadow suddenly appeared before Bai Ye.
What was going on?
Before Bai Ye could react, he was violently slammed by the shadow, sending him tumbling back into the corridor.
This unprovoked assault left Bai Ye bewildered. Lying on the ground, clutching his nose, he instantly jolted in shock upon seeing what the shadow was.
Because a massive, blood-dripping maw appeared right in front of him, about to bite down.
The creature that had collided with him was a Xenomorph!
"Your grandmother's!"
Bai Ye quickly thrust his Zanpakuto into the Xenomorph's mouth, jamming it against its upper jaw to prevent it from biting him. The Xenomorph struggled violently, shaking its head and pressing down on Bai Ye, trying to bite.
After a few seconds of this stalemate, suddenly, another dark shape shot out from the room, leaping high.
Bai Ye looked up and saw it was a Predator, realizing immediately that the Predator and the Xenomorph must have been fighting inside the room, and he had stumbled into it.
But what was with this dagger-wielding leaping thrust?
He was still pinned down by the Xenomorph...
