Chapter 120: Chapter 37: Hunt (Part 1)

The next day.

Under the arrangement of Su Ziyu and Lady Inid, Melissa and Lady Nicole engaged in a sparring match. Initially, he thought this would be a back-and-forth battle, but in less than two minutes, Melissa’s longsword was already at Nicole’s fair neck.

As a result, she could only pull a pitiful face, looking helplessly at Su Ziyu.

"You rely too much on your Mana Shield."

Su Ziyu frowned deeply, speaking in a low voice, "Your warlocks’ Mana Shields are indeed very strong, but for true experts, breaking them takes only an instant."

The warlocks in this world have mastered a kind of Mana Shield, somewhat like Su Ziyu’s Spiritual Shield, capable of defending against most damage. However, once the attack strength exceeds the shield’s threshold, the Mana Shield shatters instantly.

In the previous fight, after Melissa got close, she delivered three strikes, shattering Nicole’s Mana Shield.

Next, she was completely at Melissa’s mercy, not even having time to prepare a spell, and was easily dealt with.

In technical terms, Lady Nicole had not undergone ’combat casting’ training at all.

"Too slow to react."

"Lacking in adaptability, only knowing how to stand still for casting," Su Ziyu said with a frown, "Daisy. Your turn."

An aggrieved expression filled Nicole’s face as she pouted and walked to the side, where Lady Judy was comforting her.

On the other hand, Melissa looked quite pleased, seemingly thrilled that she could defeat the female warlock with ease. She has never liked the trio of rich sisters, if she were to rank them in terms of pettiness, Nicole would be a level one, Mira a level two, and Judy a rather dangerous level three.

Melissa really disliked how Lady Judy deliberately got close to Su Ziyu.

Seeing Melissa’s slightly smug expression, Su Ziyu decided it was time to teach her a lesson.

When Daisy took the stage, the situation immediately turned. Daisy was noticeably more experienced; while Nicole stood in place for casting, she opened distance right from the start, even summoning a crow and several twisted vines. The vines tangled up Melissa, and by the time she managed to break free, things were already in a dire state.

To Su Ziyu’s surprise, it seemed like Daisy had received some close-combat training; she surprisingly used her staff to parry one of Melissa’s attacks.

This was unexpected given his knowledge of female warlocks.

Very quickly.

Melissa was defeated, with the outcome determined by her being hit directly by a harmful spell. Even for someone with a demon hunter’s superhuman physique, it was not possible to take strong spells head-on. In sparring, it’s clear high-power spells aren’t actually cast, but in real combat, a demon hunter would have low odds after being wounded. With Su Ziyu and Lady Inid around, there was no worry of anything serious happening.

She lost.

Melissa’s previously proud expression quickly vanished, and she bit her lip as she walked to stand behind Su Ziyu.

The surrounding female warlocks all showed contemplative expressions.

They were mostly self-taught warlocks, few having received professional combat training.

Lady Inid’s lips curved into a faint smile, softly saying, "Before becoming a warlock, Daisy trained with druids."

No wonder.

This was someone who had clearly received combat casting training.

Su Ziyu glanced at Lady Inid, and suddenly said, "How about we give it a try? Just to see how it goes?"

He had always been curious about Lady Inid’s strength, and similarly, Lady Inid had always been curious about Su Ziyu’s abilities.

This wasn’t a self-taught warlock; she had been renowned for over a century.

Su Ziyu had never fought a caster head-on, and he was curious how he would fare against a warlock.

"Alright," Lady Inid nodded.

The next moment.

Her figure vanished into thin air, reappearing thirty meters away.

Teleportation!

Su Ziyu’s expression instantly turned grave; unlike other female warlocks, Lady Inid’s capabilities were seriously formidable!

If this were the Academy days, Lady Inid would be at the level of a mentor or dean, while only one or two of the other female warlocks there might even graduate.

This indifferent use of a teleportation spell was something others wouldn’t even dare to dream of.

The surroundings gradually quieted down.

The faces of many female warlocks showed a trace of excitement, while Melissa bit her lip and looked quite tense.

The most powerful female warlock in the South Coast in the last century vs. the legendary demon hunter who could kill sixteen witch hunters unscathed!

The battle was about to begin!

At the moment of initiation, Su Ziyu’s figure disappeared from where he stood, accompanied by a muffled bang as the sturdy marble floor was etched with web-like cracks. The nearby female warlocks all felt as if the ground had trembled, their bodies subtly swaying, and they opened their mouths in astonishment. Many had only heard of Su Ziyu’s battle record and had never witnessed his true strength in action.

This non-human physical prowess!

Even Lady Elena, well-versed in the study of demon hunters, was utterly amazed, her eyes lighting up with immense interest in Su Ziyu’s physique.

A flicker of shadow passed by.

For Su Ziyu at full burst, thirty meters was only a fleeting moment; he instantly pulled out Meteor and slashed toward the sight of Lady Inid.

Clang!

An invisible energy barrier blocked his attack, Lady Inid’s Mana Shield on a level unmatched by others.

A flash of lightning arced through the air.

Su Ziyu’s explosive speed was too fast for Lady Inid to chant a spell, yet she remained unperturbed, pointing a finger to unleash a bolt of lightning at Su Ziyu.

This was a low-tier spell, requiring almost no preparation.

Tiny arcs danced across Su Ziyu’s body surface, yet this type of attack would have incapacitated most demon hunters, but he remained entirely unscathed, moving forward and suddenly thrusting a dagger at the Mana Shield.

A weapon crafted from anti-magic metal.

Crunch.

Lady Inid’s Mana Shield shattered like an eggshell, effortlessly fractured by the anti-magic metal weapon. But just as Su Ziyu was about to attack again, even he was briefly taken aback by the next development.

Clang!

A short sword appeared out of nowhere in Lady Inid’s palm, and with substantial strength she deflected his attack.

A cold gleam aimed straight at Su Ziyu’s brow.

The turn of events was beyond his expectations; he didn’t anticipate Lady Inid to have such agile reflexes.

Clang clang clang.

The speed of their exchange was exceptionally fast, with Lady Inid using the legendary agility and dexterity of elves to the fullest, engaging with him in close combat for several rounds. However, Su Ziyu’s power was something she could not withstand, as her arm trembled slightly, pulling back and disappearing anew.

How could Su Ziyu let her distance herself once more? He pressed forward, closing in on Lady Inid’s chest.
