Chapter 118: Chapter 25: Leveraging Power (1)

The Hourglass of Time led Su Ziyu to a world with issues.

Although the corruption in this world wasn’t as severe as in other worlds, the number of monsters was still high. Moreover, Su Ziyu had yet to find any clues about the ’Time Traversers.’ Compared to previous worlds he had experienced, Su Ziyu’s accumulated strength and assistance in this world were the strongest.

With a bit of effort in this world, he could gain the support of Demon Hunters and Warlocks.

As a Space-Time Inspector, Su Ziyu knew that the power of Demon Hunters was necessary for this world; relying solely on himself to eradicate corruption was unrealistic. Helping Demon Hunters restore their inheritance could help solve the world’s problems.

With this in mind, the data stream in his mind suddenly shifted, and some information emerged.

"Space-Time Monitor System self-response mode activated!..."

"Mission issued: Help Demon Hunters of the current plane restore their inheritance."

"Mission reward: Authority Level upgrade!... Expand Demon Hunter Enhanced Skill Tree!... Unlock Demon Hunter Enhanced Database!..."

Huh?

Why was a mission suddenly triggered?

Su Ziyu was a bit surprised; he currently had two tasks to resolve: one was investigating the ’Celestial Convergence’ phenomenon in this world, and the other was the newly triggered restoration of Demon Hunter inheritance. The Space-Time Monitor System didn’t have mandatory requirements for missions, at least he hadn’t encountered any yet. Since his Authority Level had activated the system’s self-response mode, missions seemed to be related to his personal experiences.

In other words, he could somewhat influence the missions issued by the Space-Time Monitor System.

If Su Ziyu hadn’t accepted Lady Inid’s employment and chose to pursue the ’Time Traversers’ directly, this mission might not have been triggered.

His initial reason for giving up tracking was partly because the enemy’s strength was unclear; entities capable of transcending planes were not simple. Additionally, since Lady Inid couldn’t find them, Su Ziyu’s chances were even lower and likely a waste of time.

"Demon Hunter Enhanced Database? Does the system itself store data on Demon Hunters?" Su Ziyu pondered.

Because the data stream of the Space-Time Monitor System was somewhat lacking, the information he could access was limited. If it was collected by himself, he could view it anytime, but data recorded by the system required Authority Level unlock.

The Dragon Blood Baptism data was unlocked through authority triggering.

After sending away the vampire Banshee sent by Lady Anirella, Su Ziyu began to consider his next steps.

The operational space in this world was vast.

Firstly, its danger level wasn’t high, and the corruption wasn’t severe, yet there were still plenty of monsters.

It could be said the world was much less dangerous than the Wasteland World; what Su Ziyu feared most in the Wasteland World was someone suddenly pulling out a mini-nuclear missile launcher, which under such circumstances, even using the Time Acceleration Ability might not allow him to escape.

While monsters weren’t strong, their numbers were significant.

If Demon Hunter inheritance could be restored, he might gradually earn a large Source Power Value.

The Thorn Demon Tree wasn’t eliminated by him, but after Melissa killed the monster, he gained 2 points of Source Power Value. If he could use Demon Hunters’ power to eliminate monsters, his accumulation of Source Power Value would undoubtedly be much faster, and at the very least, he could acquire plenty of monster intelligence, selectively eliminating those that might yield Source Power Value.

Thinking this way, the benefits of helping Demon Hunters restore inheritance were indeed impressive!

"What exactly does Van Helsing want to do?" Su Ziyu murmured.

He could guess a bit of Van Helsing’s intentions, but this old Demon Hunter was very tight-lipped; some plans perhaps only he himself knew.

"Only able to wait for Lady Inid to return and see."

This elf female warlock was referred to by her people as the ’Wise One’; her identity might not be simple either.

The day passed quickly.

Lady Inid didn’t return until the next afternoon. Before Su Ziyu could speak, this elf female warlock excitedly said, "Sir Su."

"During this outing, I unexpectedly acquired some information you might find very interesting."

"About those who can traverse time and space."

She beckoned to someone behind her, and soon a hunter who looked a bit apprehensive walked over. Lady Inid solemnly said, "Describe everything you saw a while ago."

"Ye...Yes..." The human hunter looked scared and nervous, stammering, "I saw them... those terrifying phantoms..."

"They wore tattered armor... rode skeletal horses... racing through the night sky..."

"I thought of the Wild Hunt legend..."

"Scared, I hid away..."

"They seemed to be chasing someone... I couldn’t see clearly... those phantoms rode warhorses galloping through the sky... I don’t know where they went!..."

Wild Hunt?!

It seemed to be a Western myth, a group of supernatural hunters chasing prey at night.

The Wild Hunt might consist of elves, fairies, the dead, or other supernatural beings. Their Leader was originally said to be Odin, later followed by historical or legendary figures like Cain, King Herod, King Arthur, etc. Typically, the appearance of the Wild Hunt foretold disasters such as wars or plagues. It’s said those encountering the Wild Hunt might be kidnapped to the Underworld or some fairyland.

In this world.

The legend of the Wild Hunt had existed for a long time.

People believed the demon spirits of the Wild Hunt were immortal, a group of ghostly knights led by the King of the Wild Hunt, wearing rusty armor, wielding swords, riding skeletal horses, flying across the sky in packs.

It is said those who encounter them would inevitably die or disappear; they attack humans, burn villages, and abduct the survivors.

Many past disappearances were linked to the Wild Hunt legend.

"They rode horses in the sky?" Su Ziyu frowned, staring at the human hunter and asked.

"Ye... Yes." The human hunter was very nervous, "They rode skeletal horses!... surrounded by phosphorescent flames!... they could gallop wildly in the sky!..."

Phantoms?

Undead?

They could even fly? They seemed difficult to handle!

Su Ziyu listened, frowning, secretly glad he didn’t track them initially. If he didn’t catch up, it was fine; if he did, he might not be able to handle these Wild Hunt. Not to mention their phantom status, just the fact they could gallop on horseback in the sky brought him significant trouble.

Furthermore, they appeared as an army, as Su Ziyu’s current strength couldn’t possibly win against an army.

"Did you really not see what they were chasing?" Su Ziyu continued to question.

"No... No..." The human hunter looked quite scared, stammering, "They rode skeletal horses, racing through the night sky... and quickly disappeared..."
