Chapter 49 Frightening Allies
In the time that followed, Fang Senyan and his companions witnessed firsthand the sheer variety of items a high-ranking Elven noble would carry on a long journey. The eight extraction opportunities yielded a large pile of Elven-specific miscellaneous items—totaling less than ten thousand Universal Points—and the black cloak.
Before the final extraction attempt, Fang Senyan steeled himself. He then approached the unconscious Wu Ge and planted a brazen kiss on her lips. Perhaps it was due to this act that his luck changed; his final extraction was a vibrant green leaf emitting a soft silver glow. Merely gazing upon the light offered a soothing and comfortable sensation.
After a sweat-soaked examination by the surviving female Elven mage, the leaf was identified as a magical item, albeit with a small magical seal. It would need to be dispelled to unlock its specific attributes.
The seal wasn't strong, merely a precaution against accidental activation. However, the Elven mage was utterly drained of mana and unable to help Fang Senyan get a sneak peek.
Fang Senyan then carried the unconscious Wu Ge, identified their direction, and followed the knowledgeable Elven mage toward their prearranged rendezvous point. There, Mister Gimli and Elder Anair. Suolong were likely waiting with bated breath.
This wasn't the first time Fang Senyan had carried Wu Ge; they had already shared considerable intimacy. Wu Ge was, in fact, a slender and graceful Elven girl—petite in every aspect except for her ample bosom.
However, the moment Fang Senyan picked her up, he realized even holding her at full strength was causing him to sweat. Climbing two hills left him gasping for breath.
It felt as if he was cradling a solid steel statue instead of Wu Ge! Fang Senyan instinctively knew the damned Vilya was to blame. Despite the exertion, he pressed on with considerable speed.
During the tedious journey, Reef inquired about the events on the battlefield.
The surviving Elven mage explained that after Fang Senyan triggered the explosives and caused the avalanche, the hastily matured Golden Ancient Tree's foundation was unstable. The defense of the Natural Elven Hero immediately crumbled. Three Nazgûl were struck by Galadriel's magic and swept into the avalanche.
Galadriel, Glorfindel, and Legolas seized the opportunity to flee separately. The remaining Nazgûl were forced to pursue them in different directions. Elrond, as it turned out, was prepared. After his clone self-destructed, he tore open a precious scroll and vanished into thin air.
Led by Elder Disa. Xugen, Reef and the Elves rushed to rescue the trapped Wu Ge. War Tree Man Farrell fell here while trying to hold off a Nazgûl warrior. However, it wasn't Farrell's true body that was destroyed. Though severely injured, he could be reborn under the Sacred Oak.
After rescuing Wu Ge, they had traveled only a short distance before Elrond, who had given chase, activated a pre-set seal and pursued them relentlessly.
Hearing this, Fang Senyan hastened his pace. Although the Nazgûl knights were chasing in pairs, the encirclement had been broken. They had no hope of killing the three Elven heroes, Galadriel, Glorfindel, and Legolas in the forest. As long as they focused on escaping, shaking off their pursuers shouldn't be a problem!
This was Fang Senyan's hidden worry! Sometimes "allies" were more terrifying than enemies!
At that moment, Franklin suddenly spoke up.
"Um, Mister Reef, I feel I must bring something to your attention."
Franklin was still quite clueless, not realizing who the real decision-maker in the team was, despite being a prospective member. However, one couldn't blame him. The shield bearer generally held the most power in a team, a universally accepted truth. Moreover, Reef's dark gold shield was quite eye-catching.
Reef cleared his throat and said, "Speak."
Franklin said, "When I left the battlefield where Elrond was killed, I set up some very subtle magical traps. These traps weren't meant to attack enemies, but to detect and sense. Just now, my magical traps were destroyed."
Reef said sternly, "Can you determine who it was?"
Franklin said, "Although I didn't see their face, I have a picture of their back."
Franklin drew his staff and drew a circle in the air. The circle then formed an image in the air, like a projector. This was the advantage of an illusionist—being able to present information very visually.
Seeing the image, everyone's face darkened. The figure was tall and well-built. Unlike Elrond's lifelessness, it exuded an indescribable vitality from its movements to its skin. Of course, the most striking feature was its radiant golden hair!
"It's Glorfindel," the female Elven mage whispered.
The name seemed to stifle everyone's breath.
This guy wasn't as easy to deal with as Elrond!
Even if Wu Ge woke up immediately in her prime, those Elves reborn by Elrond couldn't match this ambitious powerhouse—imagine, Elrond, a mage whose bloodline was split in half and relied entirely on physical strength for close combat, had almost brought Fang Senyan's group to collapse! What about a Glorfindel in his prime?
To ease the tension, Franklin laughed and said, "Luckily, we disguised the scene when we left. He definitely won't be able to find the direction we went."
But the female Elven mage said despairingly, "One hundred and forty years ago, after the fall of Rivendell's first hunter, Jose. Kaka, everyone believed Glorfindel deserved the title. I remember clearly, one time, Lord Elrond's favorite Painted Bunting escaped from its cage. Lord Glorfindel, after hearing about it a day later, brought the bird back in less than two hours—because I was the one who accidentally let the bird escape. I forgot to close the cage door after feeding it."
As the tense atmosphere enveloped the team, Fang Senyan, who had reached the mountain top ahead, suddenly smiled. After an hour and a half of trekking, he finally saw the agreed-upon rendezvous point. The terrain was peculiar, resembling the back of a Bactrian camel.
Seeing the destination within reach, and considering the terrifying powerhouse chasing behind, everyone broke into the fastest speed and rushed toward it.
When Fang Senyan saw Mister Gimli and Elder Anair. Suolong, he realized they were indeed very impatient. They were pacing back and forth, like ants on a hot pot.
Upon seeing them, Mister Gimli immediately embraced Fang Senyan warmly. The elite Dwarf warriors under his command also performed the most honorable Dwarf hat-throwing salute to Fang Senyan.
Elder Anair. Suolong was stunned. After a long daze, he looked around and said, "You... you're all that's left?"
Fang Senyan nodded. "Yes."
Elder Anair. Suolong said in disbelief, "Disa. Xugen, Anair. Yusu are dead?"
The surviving female Elven mage burst into tears. "They were devoured by King Elrond."
Elder Anair. Suolong continued to stare blankly for a long while. Then, his eyes suddenly fixed on the Wu Ge held by Fang Senyan—specifically, on her finger! He stammered in a twisted voice, "Sindar above!!! Are my eyes deceiving me? Why is the ring on the Dawn Elf's finger so familiar?"
Fang Senyan said casually, "Of course, you'll find it familiar, because I bet you've seen it on Elrond's finger many, many times before."
Elder Anair. Suolong spread his hands helplessly, panting heavily and trembling, "This is impossible!! Even if King Elrond dies, his soul imprint would remain on the Ring of Air, Vilya, for at least a century before dissipating! Unless Vilya is sealing, cursing Lady Wu Ge! That's impossible too. The feeling of the Ring of Air, Vilya, is clearly one with Lady Wu Ge."
Fang Senyan was too lazy to explain further and said casually, "The eternal sun guides us, so we are omnipotent—hey, my dear Dwarf friend, is the matter I entrusted to you taken care of?"
Mister Gimli said solemnly, "It was finished four hours ago. Do not doubt the Dwarf's credibility, it is as reliable as rock!"
As Mister Gimli finished speaking, the elite Dwarf warriors behind him parted to the left and right, revealing a large open space behind them. This was the last trump card Fang Senyan had prepared!
