Chapter 8 Refracted Death (Bonus Chapter 1)
Facing the close-range attack from two thugs, Quest didn't panic in the slightest. In a sudden movement, he kicked the approaching mohawk-wearing guy in the abdomen, sending him staggering back several steps, bending over and gasping for breath in pain. At the same time, Quest's gun-wielding right hand drew an arc in the air, the muzzle spitting out two flashes of fire without any hesitation.
A gangster rushing in from the doorway and another broker were simultaneously hit and fell to the ground, dead, shot in the heart!
The first time was accidental, the second time was a coincidence, but the third time was inevitable!
Such marksmanship!
Quest's expression, however, was very indifferent, as if he had just crushed two ants instead of killing two people. Rapid footsteps came from the corridor outside, obviously reinforcements from the gang were arriving in a steady stream, but Quest remained calm, unhurriedly reloading his police-issue revolver. Only when the footsteps outside approached did he slowly raise his hand and start aiming.
Strangely, he was aiming at the empty wall opposite him!
"Bang, bang, bang, bang!"
Quest expressionlessly fired four shots in a row, dust and smoke flying everywhere. Without exception, all four shots left shallow dents in the opposite wall, but muffled thuds and screams came from the corridor outside. Katrina next to him was stunned. She had realized that this small man was using angle reflection, seemingly shooting at the wall ridiculously, but the bullets were ricocheting into the corridor, successfully killing or wounding several gangsters outside!
"Hmph." A gloomy smile appeared on Quest's face. He turned to look at Katrina and said coldly, "I'll give you ten seconds. If you don't hand over the bullets, I guarantee your brains and blood will be splattered all over the wall behind you!"
Katrina's face had turned pale. Of course, she knew that if she handed over the bullets at this time, she would face the gang's cruel punishment, but Quest's threat, delivered with the force of having killed five people in a row, was even more imminent! She was a woman who knew what was good for her, and quickly tremblingly took out forty 8.38mm slug rounds for the shotgun, as well as twenty magnum rounds for the M500.
After getting the powerful bullets and weapons, Quest didn't seem to be in a hurry to load them. It seemed that in his eyes, the gun in his hand was enough to deal with these gangsters. He threw the two guns and ammunition into the travel bag he had brought and slung it over his shoulder. After walking to the door, he suddenly remembered something.
That was money.
It was still 1984, and even in economically developed Los Angeles, checks were the preferred method for large payments, and credit cards were not as deeply ingrained in people's lives as they are now. Moreover, the American gangs had not evolved to the advanced stage of using credit card machines in their black market gun dens. So in Quest's mind, Felsen, who dared to spend a lot of dollars to make him angry, undoubtedly carried a large amount of cash.
No one would complain about having too little money.
So Quest walked towards Felsen's "corpse." He stared at Felsen's bulging coat pocket, walking very lightly and without any precautions, because he was very confident in his marksmanship - no one could survive three shots in the same part of the heart, even if they were wearing a bulletproof vest!
When Quest squatted down and reached for Felsen's windbreaker, a fist rapidly magnified in front of his eyes, and then heavily slammed into his face!
This punch was not only powerful, but also extremely sudden, completely unexpected by Quest. His only thought in the chaos was to immediately disengage and create distance! But how could Felsen give him this chance? A beast-like low roar came from his throat, and his thick, sturdy arms had already closed in, tightly gripping Quest, then a headbutt fiercely struck his nose!
The human forehead bone is one of the hardest parts of the human body. This headbutt was also amplified by Felsen's twelve points of Strength. In that moment of intense pain, Quest even heard the sound of his nose bones shattering and piercing into his facial bones. He let out a shrill scream, and snot, tears, and a large amount of blood involuntarily gushed out. His eyes were blurred and throbbing. Felsen pressed his advantage, suddenly went around behind Quest, threw him to the ground, and with his right hand grabbed Quest's arm, twisting it back, and with his left hand picked up a stool next to him, aiming it at the enemy's head!
If this blow were to hit Quest squarely, the unlucky Quest would at least suffer a severe concussion and be unconscious. If he had bad luck, he would die on the spot. But at this moment, Quest suddenly yelled and swung his elbow violently at Felsen's face, accompanied by a crisp "crack"! It should be known that his right hand was being held firmly behind his back by Felsen, making such a large movement could only lead to one outcome: his right arm was broken alive at the joint!
Felsen also did not expect Quest to be so crazy. He grunted and was also hit in the face by his elbow, seeing stars! Quest took advantage of the situation to pounce forward and break free from Felsen's control. When he fell in the air, he was able to roll over and turn around. In a state of imbalance, his left hand was still able to pull out the police-issue revolver, coldly aiming it!
Felsen's Agility was not high, far from being able to successfully dodge bullets. But that didn't mean he would do nothing. As early as the moment Quest broke free, the feeling of being pierced by a needle in his brow suddenly struck again. This should be the benefit of high perception, and Felsen didn't hesitate to take a sliding step to the right, coldly picking up Katrina, who was stunned beside him, and ruthlessly using her as a shield in front of him!
A gunshot of "bang" stifled Katrina's scream in her throat. Her expression instantly became dull, and a blood hole appeared on her forehead. The skull on the back of her head was directly blown off, leaving a bowl-sized black hole. Brain matter and blood splattered all over Felsen. That warm and cruel feeling was truly unforgettable. Even though Felsen had experienced many dangers before, he had never seen such a tragic scene, and couldn't help but be slightly lost in thought. But Quest had seized the opportunity and rolled out of the door like a monkey.
Quest leaned against the wall, breathing heavily. Although this world had weakened the sense of pain by a full seventy percent, the pain coming from his right hand and nose still made him twitch and tremble all over. That feeling of panic like a stray dog returned to him again.
"Damn it... this idiot actually dared to plot against me, I want to kill him, I want to kill him!"
Quest muttered to himself through gritted teeth, seizing the time to press bullets into the gun one by one. The muzzle was still emitting green smoke. So far, two minutes had passed, but that damned contractor showed no sign of rushing out. In the corridor behind Quest, there were still five or six corpses of gang members lying scattered, blood flowing silently in the corridor. These guys who came to reinforce almost died at Quest's hands as soon as they met!
Suddenly, the door opened! A figure rushed out, but Quest remained unmoved. As one of the most famous gunmen in Afghanistan in the real world, he could of course see that it was just a corpse being thrown out. Moreover, after entering the Nightmare world, he came with a full Lv4 of basic ranged combat, and even possessed the terrifying passive talent of "Reflection". Therefore, in this battle, Quest had extremely strong confidence in winning!
The moment the corpse landed, Felsen pounced out like an angry tiger, and he was only holding his right hand in front of his face - since tricks didn't work, then a frontal assault!
Quest smiled coldly. In his cognition, Felsen was just wearing a one-piece bulletproof vest with extremely strong protection. But having naturally mastered Lv4 basic ranged combat, his shooting accuracy (referring to the accuracy of the shooter standing still and shooting) had reached over 90%, almost hitting wherever he aimed, hitting every shot.
The flames of the muzzle spurted out, and Quest fired six shots in a row in an instant. Two bullets hit Felsen's ankles, and the other four bullets brought out a few wisps of smoke and dust on the wall/floor, reflecting out at strange angles, viciously shooting towards Felsen's throat, crotch, and temples.
Just as Quest had expected, Felsen didn't dodge, and couldn't dodge at all! Quest also clearly heard the light "thump, thump, thump" sounds. That was the sound of bullets tearing through clothes and entering flesh and blood, which was also the most beautiful sound Quest thought, there was no other.
"Tch! Killing this guy with one shot is letting him off easy!" Quest thought viciously. If it were in the real world, people who offended Quest would mostly have their tendons and hamstrings cut off and be thrown into the great desert to be exposed to the sun and die. The most tenacious guy was exposed to the sun alive for three days before taking his last breath. A man who originally weighed more than two hundred pounds wailed for three full days and was dried into a jerky weighing only twenty pounds!
But Quest's eyeballs immediately bulged out. The sturdy man in front of him didn't fall as expected. His sprinting speed didn't decrease but increased instead. From the gaps in the damaged clothes, it could be clearly seen that several blood-stained and deformed bullets were being squeezed out alive with the strong contraction of his solid muscles, helplessly falling to the ground!
