Chapter 1 Judas's Denarius
Blood red undoubtedly comes in many varieties.
There's the blood red that gleams with life, like arterial blood; the dark red of venous blood; and the black-red of congealed blood.
The color of this package, however, was strange. It looked like the envelope had been soaked in fresh blood and then left to dry. The blood red at the top of the package was lighter, while the color at the bottom was darker and thicker.
Seeing this package, Fang Senyan immediately felt an ominous premonition, like seeing paper money or wreaths on the road first thing in the morning—unlucky. He pressed his fingers onto the package. The sensation wasn't like touching paper but like touching a piece of ice with many textured symbols. Then, a stiff, mechanical voice sounded:
"Verification program starting: Please follow the operational prompts strictly. Any operational errors will result in irreversible, unknown, and adverse consequences."
"First verification measure starting: Verifying if the environment is the destination: Noah Space C."
"Please place this item in direct contact with the space. A sixty-second countdown has begun. If verification fails after the countdown, this item will self-destruct."
"Damn it," Fang Senyan couldn't help but mutter. A sense of curiosity arose in his heart. He immediately left his private room and went to the main hall, where he could directly touch the space's special, slightly red inner wall. The material felt like rubber, like a car tire, but also had the softness of flesh. He wasn't sure what it was made of.
Fang Senyan placed the package on the slightly contracting inner wall. At this point, less than ten seconds had passed in the countdown. He immediately saw many beams of light emanate from the surface of the package, then piece together to form the emblem of the Empire, which stuck to the inner wall.
Soon, the mechanical voice spoke again:
"First verification measure complete: Searching for a safe area, unsealing the first layer of packaging."
The package automatically flew back to Fang Senyan's private space. The surface then began to move on its own. Many intersecting silver lines appeared on it, dividing the package's blood-red surface like a Rubik's Cube. These blocks then began to rotate rapidly in various directions, finally revealing a silver coin with ancient patterns.
The color of this silver coin was slightly black. The pattern on it was a balance scale with a strong West Asian style, with clearly visible textures. On the north side of the silver coin, the words "One Dinar" were written in ancient Assyrian.
This thing, placed in the air, seemed to float. Even the surrounding air rippled strangely like water. It was as if it didn't exist in this world and could break through the barriers of time and space at any moment!
Fang Senyan tried to use his senses to probe it and immediately obtained the information:
Judas' Dinar (Minted in 32 AD)
Material: Silver, nickel, blood of Judas
Origin: All worlds related to Earth may contain it. It can also be purchased in rare, mysterious shops that appear after reaching the rank of General.
Rarity: Silver storyline
Effect: Betray the currently affiliated space and switch to another space, provided that the space acknowledges the holder's strength and is willing to accept them.
Description: This is one of the thirty silver coins that Judas, one of the twelve apostles, received after betraying his master. Because it was stained with the blood Judas vomited, it possesses a strange and bizarre power.
Side effects: Once the holder demonstrates their strength to the space they wish to switch to, but is not accepted, there is a high probability that the affiliated space will discover this and impose severe penalties. This includes no rewards for completing the main quests for three consecutive rounds (but the penalties for not completing them still apply), a 10% reduction in all attributes, and so on.
Warning: Unless absolutely necessary, it is best not to use this thing unless you have considerable confidence in your strength.
"Usage requirement: Sacrifice a Dark Gold piece of equipment to activate it."
"Evaluation: Judas, who betrayed Jesus, ended up hanging himself on a tree. Believe me, if you betray your affiliated space and are not accepted by another space, then your end will be much worse than Judas'."
This Dinar began to glow, but its main body also slowly faded while glowing, like salt or sugar dissolving in water.
Immediately afterward, a simple 3D model took shape in the air and quickly improved. Finally, a familiar figure appeared in front of Fang Senyan: the assassin Ronnie! His various data were displayed, jumping rapidly. Of course, Fang Senyan couldn't see the specific details; they were quickly transmitted to Noah Space C.
Soon, the Devil's Dinar completely disappeared into the air but quickly popped back out, coated with a layer of red light, and fell back into the package.
The package rotated again like a Rubik's Cube, and the mechanical voice came again:
"The target has successfully passed the approval of Noah Space C. The second verification measure is complete. Starting the third verification measure, scanning… Scanning detected a contractor's life reaction nearby. If you are contractor 1018, the addressee, please press your palm on this package to confirm your identity. If you are not, then please do not do so; otherwise, unknown destructive consequences may occur."
"This is really fucking troublesome," Fang Senyan muttered, but he obediently pressed his hand on it. He felt a jolt of electricity, but soon, as the light of the Nightmare Imprint on his chest flashed, the strange package floated up and slowly became transparent, leaving only the crisscrossing silver lines on the surface.
Those crisscrossing silver lines connected to form a silver thread, and then the thing flew out. In the empty space beside him, it moved like a paintbrush, drawing dazzlingly in the air, and finally formed a 3D projection. The surrounding background slowly went from simple to complex, completely and realistically restoring everything and presenting it in front of Fang Senyan.
What appeared in front of Fang Senyan was Ronnie. He looked even thinner now, with a sharp chin and dark stubble. Only his eyes were still as ruthless and sharp as ever. Ronnie was dressed in black from head to toe, even wearing a black cloak. To ensure the accuracy of his knife strikes, the cuffs were slightly rolled up, like Liu Qian when performing magic.
Half of his left palm had been chopped off. Only the stumps of bone remained of his ring and little fingers. There were also several deep, bloodstained cracks on the edge of his cloak. Even one of his eyes had been blown out.
Ronnie looked as if he were wrapped in a mass of rotten flesh, with several disgusting tentacles wrapped around his body. From the gaps in the tentacles, it could be seen that they were undergoing high-speed division in space, a situation similar to that depicted in some country's tentacle-themed comics.
However, Fang Senyan saw at a glance that Ronnie was actually in a completely safe environment because that was how the Zerg Overlord transported its units – in a way that almost made one collapse.
Ronnie looked at Fang Senyan and pondered for a moment, holding his chin with his hand.
"If the Imperial Express that I spent fifteen points of merit on fails to reach its target, then it can only mean that I deserve to die. Hello, boss. My current situation isn't good, and I'm planning to come and join you."
Fang Senyan asked curiously:
"How will you join me?"
But he didn't get a response because Ronnie was just an illusion, speaking according to pre-recorded material. Ronnie, looking pale, said:
"That bitch felt threatened when she saw my custom-made bloody weapon, so she set a trap and betrayed me. They sent me to investigate an area, but what awaited me there was an encirclement of two entire enemy teams!!"
Ronnie smiled bitterly and took out his powerful, sharp, bloody short knife with four times the critical hit, slowly stroking it.
"If it weren't for your help, exchanging enough Barium element bars for life-saving props, then I believe I would have died long ago. But, I was still driven into a dead end. I could only activate the Inheritance Trial: Dark Templar's Legacy, with no guarantee of success. Fortunately, I managed to get a chance to catch my breath. But they will still chase me relentlessly. If I don't get any help, then death is only a matter of time."
"So, can you come and save me? If you don't come, then I believe that, according to my attributes, Noah Space C, which you belong to, should also issue a mission to send someone to save me. But, I still hope you can come because you are the only powerful MT who can convince me, both in strength and in wit. If you come, you can gain my loyalty!"
At this moment, Fang Senyan also received a related prompt from the Nightmare Imprint:
"You have triggered an emergency rescue mission: Unnamed, mission number is 28acd1."
"Mission content: Successfully rescue the highly potential Awakener zb419 back to the Nightmare Space."
"Mission prompt: Because Awakener zb419 is a defector from their original space and has not yet made contact with this space, there will be additional dangers during the mission execution."
"Mission introduction: This mission is divided into two steps. When you come into contact with Awakener zb419, immediately implant the seed of this space's Nightmare Imprint into their chest in order to generate a Nightmare Imprint belonging to this space. Completing this step will earn you half the reward."
"When you successfully bring the zb419 Awakener back to this space, you will receive the other half of the reward."
"Do you accept?"
