Chapter 69: The Enemy Within 2

Chapter 69: The Enemy Within 2

Andria’s POV

"Well, I don’t think she would do anything to hurt me physically; she might take Tracy’s side all she wants, but she can’t hurt me."

"But what if she does? You sound so trusting for someone who you know is not by your side," she swallowed and continued.

"In fact, what if she gangs up with Tracy to hurt you physically? Have you considered that?" she scolded.

"Well, I’m just learning about her involvement in Tracy’s campaign now, so now I know she is not just a flat mate but an enemy."

"You should be more careful with her, you already know you can’t trust her," she warned in a dangerously low tone.

"I think we should be with Becca tomorrow. I think she needs more companions at this point," she suggested.

"Oh, yes, Becca, you can join me now if you want. I’d be heading to my dormitory to get my things, then I’ll stop over at Becca’s place to check up on her."

"I thought she was at the Alpha successor’s place, because that’s what the rumor said, they said that you and Becca framed all these things just to gain the attention of the successors," Liara said, tapping her face with her index finger.

"Well, part of the rumor is genuine, we did stay in the successors’ apartment over the weekend, and we are back to our various dorms," Liara looked at me with a teasing, accusing expression on her face.

I glared playfully at her. "But we didn’t stage our injuries just to gain their attention for crying out loud, Becca was abducted, and I had to go see whoever took her because I was the one they wanted, Becca was just a bait to lure me in."

I paused and exhaled because I was running out of breath. "Although I hate to admit this, we were lucky to have been saved by them."

"Oh, I see, not like I believed the rumor either, I was busy with the campaign process, and I just felt that everything was just propaganda. I won’t be able to join you to see Becca today, but I’ll see her tomorrow. Please send my regards to her," she said, and moved to get her bath kit.

The day was almost dark, and since the event with the vampires, I had decided to stop taking late-night walks because I wouldn’t know what was next.

I escaped bullying from my adoptive parents, only to meet constant attacks here at Ashwood. I’m beginning to think something was wrong with me.

"Nothing is wrong with you, you are just special," Athena’s voice soothed me.

"I think it’s high time I took my leave. Perhaps I will consider your request to stay with you before tomorrow, and you will receive your answer by then. If yes is the answer, you will see me with my luggage at your door, and if no, I’ll come empty-handed," I told her, while heading towards the door.

"Why the sudden change of mind? I thought we had settled on the conditions for you to stay with me, and we agreed on them. Why do you have to think about it again? You are so difficult," she snapped, scrunching her face up and then suddenly releasing it, and giving me a cute look.

"Please don’t change your mind on coming to stay with me, it’s so lonely here, and I’ll be needing you as the exams are approaching, moreover, there’s more safety and more luxury, we will do feminine cute things together, think of it and please..." she said, crossing both her palms and attempting to kneel.

"Please don’t do what you are trying to do, I said I’ll give you the reply tomorrow," I said, holding her hands and pulling her up until she sat on her bed.

"Let me finish what I was saying," she said, snatching her hands from me in a cute and friendly manner.

"Ok, you were saying?, cute princess," I teased.

She glared playfully at me, then continued. "Think of it, and please give me a positive reply by tomorrow."

She then lay down on her bed and faced off. What a cute, overly pampered and entitled princess. But at least she is very kind; she’s just quite clingy as well. But for now, I value her loyalty.

"You wouldn’t say goodbye to me?" I teased her, adjusting the doorknob in an attempt to leave.

"You haven’t given me my reply yet, so for now I wouldn’t be saying goodbye," she retorted and faced off again.

"Ok, if you say so," I said, bursting into laughter, and she burst into laughter too.

I left the apartment, locking the door behind me, to make sure the princess was safe, because the recent happenings in the Academy felt like my friends could be attacked at any time.

But unlike my dormitory, there are more than two security personnel stationed at the entrance of each royal residence.

How very different our worlds are. Examining the class bias in this society has only strengthened my resolve.

I would make sure to pass all my exams in this Academy, so that I can be relevant in this society, so that my wolf rank will be increased, so that I can have my complete revenge on my...well that family, so that my actual parents will see that I’m well off and come, or be proud of me in their grave.

The walk to my dorm was lonely, only accompanied by evening birds. I was glad that it wasn’t dark yet. It will take an hour and thirty minutes before the day turns dark.

And I thought it might be better to visit Becca to check on her health status.

Her dormitory was silent, and her window shutters were closed. That is so strange. Becca wouldn’t shut her windows while inside the house, especially when the day isn’t even dark yet.

I hurried into her dormitory and into her apartment because, of course, we exchanged spare keys. I was worried that something else might have happened to her.

Just to meet her and Arlo in the sitting room, cozying up to each other.

"Wait, am I missing something?" I asked with a confused expression as I drew closer to them.

They were eating popcorn and watching some documentaries. They were silent as if they didn’t notice me. They were so engrossed in their documentary that they didn’t even hear me come in, because the volume on the TV was higher than any noise in the apartment.

I walked to the front of the television. "Like seriously, documentaries?" I asked, raising my hands, "And you didn’t care to lower the volume? And is that why you pulled down your shutters?"

"Oh, you just killed the fun, Aria," Arlo hissed and paused the show.

"Aria!" Becca squealed, rushing to embrace me.

"Well, now you see me. What is with the locked shutters all of a sudden? I smell something fishy," I teased them.

The idea of my best friends smooching when I’m not around bewildered me.

"Are you two like an item?, Well, I find it a little weird, but of course I’m happy for you both," I teased them again.

Becca blushed so hard, trying to form her words.

"Well, spill the news, I’m all ears."

"Arlo is mated to me; it snapped during the weekend, and the mate bond helped me recover quicker than I expected," she exclaimed excitedly.

I dragged her to the corner. "Well, excuse us, it’s female talk time," I addressed Arlo, who just shrugged at me.

"Are you serious? So Arlo is your mate?" I asked, in a bewildered tone, I was sure I was shouting at this point.

"Calm down, you will wake my flat mates up, and you wouldn’t want to face the outcome, they are both Tracy’s fans. By the way, yes, he is my mate, ain’t I lucky I got to bond with my very good friend. The moon goddess must love me very much," she squealed excitedly, smiling from ear to ear.

"I’m so happy, provided you are happy, and yes, about Tracy’s fans’ recent obsession, I have something I want to discuss with you both, beca..use," I stressed the word ’because’ for emphasis. "You two have missed out on a lot as regards the new happenings in school."

We walked back to where Arlo was seated. He had turned the documentary back on and had tuned us entirely out.

"Ok, enough of the documentaries for today, we have an important issue to discuss, and we think that it is better discussed in my room, for privacy’s sake," Becca announced, snatching the remote control from the center table and turning the TV off.

"Fuck!, what is it with you now?" Arlo groaned, jumping on Becca and tickling her, trying to snatch the remote control from her.

"Ok, enough of this play, when our campaign and the entire school are in danger," I snapped at them, furrowing my eyebrows, to make sure they understood the intensity of the problem facing us right now.
