Chapter 389: You Need To Admit Your Mistake

Chapter 389: Chapter 389: You Need To Admit Your Mistake

When he saw that woman yesterday, he was stunned. He wanted to know the truth about his father’s death and why his mother had left the Wilson family. But instead, she had taken a bullet for him and nearly lost her life.

He rushed her to the hospital, and only after she was out of danger did he return to the villa. By then, it was already too late to save Chantelle and the children.

"Can’t Mommy know about this?" Railer asked, confused. He thought this reason was enough for her to forgive Daniel. Chantelle was kind, after all. But in thinking that way, he had underestimated how much she valued the three of them.

"To your mommy, you and your siblings are everything. No matter what reason I give, she won’t forgive me so easily. There’s too much involved in this, and it’s better not to drag her into it. You’ll have to keep it a secret for now, okay?"

If Daniel hadn’t been carrying so much pain in his heart, and if Railer hadn’t been good at keeping secrets since he was young, Daniel would never have told him the truth.

"You need to admit your mistake to Mommy and ask her to forgive you soon." Railer saw the sadness on Daniel’s face and knew telling Chantelle everything would only hurt her more. So he decided to help Daniel keep the secret.

"Don’t worry. I’ll protect all of you." Daniel gently patted Railer’s head. "Go inside and take care of Mommy for me."

"Daddy, settle Grandma’s matter as soon as you can. After that, let’s go back to Easthan." Railer stood up and started walking toward the ward.

When he reached the door, he turned back and saw Daniel still sitting on the small chair. His tall frame was slightly hunched, and he looked lonely and pitiful.

"Rai, what are you looking at?" Kane asked as he walked over, chewing on an apple.

Railer glanced into the ward. Stephanie had climbed onto the bed, massaging Xander’s shoulders, while Chantelle sat beside him, smiling as she talked. The sight made Railer feel even more pity for Daniel.

"Look at Daddy. Doesn’t he look pitiful?" Railer tried to get Kane on his side. But Kane only gave a quick glance and said, "I don’t think so. Didn’t Uncle Calvin leave lunch for Daddy?"

Railer let out a helpless sigh. Kane clearly didn’t understand what he meant.

"Don’t sigh! We were just talking about you. Come on, let’s go see our Godfather." Kane grabbed Railer’s hand and pulled him toward the bed before he could say anything more.

When Chantelle saw Railer, she thought of Daniel and glanced toward the door. Not seeing him there, her eyes dimmed for a moment before she quickly hid it.

"Godfather, thank you for helping us yesterday. Daddy asked me to thank you on his behalf," Railer said, half-truthfully, as he looked at Xander.

Xander’s face was wrapped in gauze, so Railer couldn’t see his expression. But his eyes softened when he looked at the boy. "Is Mr. Wilson okay?"

"Daddy’s fine. He said what happened yesterday was an accident, and he’ll protect us from now on." As Railer spoke, he turned his eyes toward Chantelle.

Sadly, Chantelle kept her head down while peeling an apple, and didn’t notice Railer at all.

"It’s good that everyone is safe." Xander let out a breath of relief. He looked at Chantelle with gentle eyes, and she lifted her head and smiled back at him.

Railer became anxious and wanted to bring up Daniel again, but Chantelle stood to answer a call.

It was Calvin. After hearing Xander was awake, he began reporting on Trenton’s movements.

"When our men chased him to the pier, we lost track of him. He may have gone back to Easthan. Several forces in Carcosa are hunting him down. I don’t think he’ll ever return here."

"It’s fine. Trenton isn’t the type to run away for good. He’ll cause trouble for us again when we go back to Easthan." Chantelle’s voice was soft, but her smile was filled with resentment. She wanted to make Trenton pay for what Xander had suffered.

"Alexander’s medicine is ready. Do you want to come to the research center with Mr. Wilson?"

The research center Calvin mentioned was Russell’s site in Carcosa. The equipment and staff weren’t as advanced as Trenton’s old center, but it was still among the best in the world.

Chantelle and Daniel would take the medicine there. If any issues came up, help would be available right away.

"Okay, I’ll be there soon." After ending the call, Chantelle turned to Xander. "I’m going out for a while. Stay here and focus on resting."

"Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. I’ll talk to my mom in the meantime," Xander said, showing her the same respect as always.

He trusted her completely and never asked for more, knowing Chantelle kept walls around her heart and anyone who pushed too far would only make her pull away.

"You three, go back to your room and play. Don’t disturb your Godfather’s rest." As Chantelle left, she guided the children out with her.

Railer leaned against her side, held her sleeve, and whispered, "Mommy, Daddy hasn’t eaten yet. I’m worried his stomach will get bad."

Chantelle sighed when she noticed Railer watching her expectantly. "I’ll talk to him later. Go back to your room with Steph and Kane first."

"Really? You’re really going to talk to Daddy about it?" Railer’s eyes lit up, and a big smile spread across his face.

Stephanie was overjoyed when she heard that.

Kane, however, remained expressionless. He remembered Railer’s words and wanted to walk over to Daniel, who was sitting alone in the living room.

But Stephanie shot him a sharp glare. Kane didn’t understand what she meant.

"Steph, what’s wrong with your eyes?" he asked.

Stephanie rolled her eyes and quickly pulled Kane behind her, giving him another fierce glare.

Kane looked puzzled. He shrugged but didn’t dare to move again.

Steph is so scary. I didn’t even do anything to upset her, but she’s still mad at me. Could it be because her eyes hurt?

Watching the children, Chantelle shook her head. No matter what, nothing seemed to lessen their love for their father. It was something they were born with, and nothing could change it.

Meanwhile, Daniel turned and saw Chantelle walking toward him. Behind her, Stephanie and Railer were cheering her on with excitement.

Did Rai tell her everything?
