Chapter 380: Chapter 380: The Hidden Door
The wall behind the sofa shifted, turning into a door. Behind it was a small room filled with advanced weapons.
Stephanie quickly pushed Chantelle inside. Then she gave another command, "Close the hidden door."
The door shut and instantly turned back into a wall.
"I’m the only one who can open it with voice control. Mommy and Kane can unlock it too, but only with an iris scan. So don’t worry, it’s completely safe in there."
Then Stephanie handed Railer a small pistol. She had taken it from the room a moment ago.
"That’s how it works. But don’t provoke Trenton for no reason," Stephanie said, showing Railer how to use the pistol step by step.
Railer listened carefully. Still, he didn’t want to leave her. He was sure Kane wouldn’t want to either.
"I knew Trenton. He used to treat me well. I don’t think he’ll hurt me. Besides, if I stay, he’ll keep me as a hostage. If we all run, he might blow this place up. It’s better if I stay."
Even so, Railer shook his head.
"Don’t you get it? This is the best way. At least we won’t all get caught. It’s just a plan. Take Kane with you, no matter what, okay?" Stephanie raised her voice in frustration.
"I’m the oldest among us, and you have to listen to me!" Railer blurted out, annoyed.
Railer knew he wasn’t as smart as Stephanie or Kane, but he couldn’t just run and leave them behind.
"You don’t know this place. You can’t even access the system. There’s nothing you can do. And Trenton, he’s not going to let you go that easily!" Stephanie said quickly, then walked off to set up the equipment. She didn’t want to argue with him anymore.
Railer clenched his fists. He knew he was weak. But if they made it out alive, he promised himself he’d catch up and be strong enough to stand beside them.
"Steph, I’m activating the level 2 defense system! Rai, hide in the room!" Kane suddenly shouted.
Stephanie was stunned when she heard him.
Kane couldn’t hold off Trenton’s hacking. He could break in at any moment.
"Rai, do you remember what I told you? Take Kane with you, no matter what!" Stephanie said as she quickly pressed buttons on the console.
It was the first time Stephanie had ever begged Railer. He used to feel upset that she never treated him like an older brother. But right now, that didn’t matter.
Railer walked up to her and gently held her hands. "Okay. I’ll do what you said."
Stephanie nodded and quickly turned around to call Xander. But the call wouldn’t go through. The signal was blocked inside the base.
"They’re here!" she said, glancing at Kane.
"Don’t worry, Steph. Our secret weapons can hold them off for a while."
Daddy’s coming. There’s nothing to be afraid of!
She and Kane had set up plenty of traps around the base. It wouldn’t be easy for Trenton to get inside.
Suddenly, gunshots rang out. Trenton’s men had finally arrived.
One by one, the surveillance cameras outside were destroyed. Stephanie couldn’t even assist their bodyguards anymore.
But one camera at the front porch was still working. Trenton stood right in front of it, flashing an evil smile.
"They’ve made it into the base!" Stephanie shouted. Kane and Railer looked up at the ceiling at the same time, as if Trenton was already above them.
Half an hour earlier, Daniel had walked into the restaurant without fear, with Calvin and his men behind him.
As soon as they walked into the restaurant, all eyes turned to them.
Daniel couldn’t help but smirk. He was curious why Trenton had brought him there.
"This way, please," a waiter said, leading Daniel to a private room.
Daniel took only Calvin with him. The rest of the men waited outside.
"Daniel, do you think Trenton is just stalling while he looks for the kids?" Calvin asked.
"We’ll find out soon," Daniel replied without emotion.
Just then, a middle-aged man came and greeted him. "Daniel, finally we meet!"
Daniel only gave him a brief glance and said nothing.
"Who are you?" Calvin asked, clearly suspicious about him. He figured the man was one of Trenton’s people.
But the man didn’t seem bothered. He sat down next to Daniel and said, "Trenton’s not feeling well. He sent me to talk to you."
"Who cares?" Daniel said, then let out a short laugh as the middle-aged man handed him a cup of tea.
The man chuckled, but there was something cruel in his expression.
"We don’t have time for games. Just tell us what Trenton wants," Calvin said directly.
The man let out a low chuckle. "Trenton says we’re friends, not enemies. So why not come to an agreement? Release William, and he’ll give you a generous reward."
Daniel glanced at him without saying a word. He could tell the so-called reward was probably a large stash of weapons.
"Trenton knows I need William to make a special remedy for my wife," Daniel said.
"Don’t worry. Trenton has found a cure. We promise she’ll recover after taking it."
"Is that so? Then I’m willing to make a deal with him."
"Great! But Trenton isn’t available right now. Just bring William here so we can prepare everything for her treatment. We don’t want any delays."
Daniel hesitated and his face turned grim. He looked down at his phone just as a message popped up.
"I’ve got the Smiths couple in the washroom."
"Be careful. If it’s too much, just leave them to me."
"Huh? I knew you told Stephanie to sedate me. I’ll deal with you later."
"Ahh... So you found out."
The middle-aged man frowned, puzzled as he watched Daniel silently replying to messages on his phone.
Isn’t the signal in this restaurant blocked? How is he still able to send messages? Did he figure out this was a trap set by Trenton? And yet he still came here to talk to me?
The middle-aged man couldn’t stop wondering. But in the end, all he cared about was getting William back.
Once William was handed over, he planned to have them all killed and blame everything on Paolo and his enemies.
