Chapter 372: Stop Following Me

Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Stop Following Me

Chantelle fired back a few playful remarks before ending the call.

Daniel walked in with Philip just as she hung up.

"Morning, Chantie," Philip said, waving from the door.

She gave him a nod and a small smile.

Daniel noticed she barely looked at him and gave Philip a sly, teasing grin. Philip’s face instantly twisted in discomfort.

"Let’s go down for breakfast," Daniel said, reaching for her hand.

She swiftly avoided him and walked toward Philip instead. "Thea just called. I think she was playing a game with someone..."

Philip looked at her like she’d said something crazy. Clearly, Thea hadn’t mentioned that part.

"She what? She said she’d wait for me! Now she’s gaming with someone else?" His voice grew more upset with every word.

Chantelle couldn’t help but laugh. She gave Philip a pat on the shoulder. "She’s even been cooking for them. And they’re sticking around after eating her food."

"Who is this guy? He’s only known her for a few days and already won’t leave?" Philip looked worried. He was itching to get back to Easthan and see who this guy was.

As they walked downstairs, Chantelle went on. "You know how she is. She’s super hospitable. Too polite to tell people to leave, even if she wants them to. Honestly, you weren’t any different."

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Daniel pause for a moment before catching up.

She picked up her pace as he moved quickly, walking past Philip.

Philip grabbed her arm. "You’ve got to talk to Thea, Chantie. She can’t be this dumb! I’m nothing like that guy. I’m a decent guy. I’m good-looking..."

Before she could reply, a shadow loomed over them.

Her heart skipped a beat. Philip quickly backed off and let go of her.

Daniel walked right past them without saying a word or even looking their way.

Philip opened his mouth to say something else, clearly wanting to know more about Thea. But Daniel’s cold voice interrupted him.

"Sit down and eat."

Chantelle gave Daniel a sarcastic smile and sat down across from him.

The triplets came and quickly noticed how far apart their parents were sitting. They glanced at each other, then all turned their eyes toward Philip.

Philip was too busy thinking about Thea to notice their secret glances.

"Mommy, I want to wash my hands," Stephanie said, reaching out.

Chantelle didn’t think anything of it and scooped her up. The sink was too high for her to reach on her own.

"I want that soap, Mommy. The orange one," Stephanie said, pointing to the cabinet above.

Chantelle looked up. It was way too high.

"Wait here. Mommy’s going to get a stool," she said as she started to put Stephanie down.

A familiar scent filled the air as a lean arm reached over her to grab the handwash.

"Thank you, Daddy!" Stephanie grinned at her father.

"Let me help," Daniel said as he stood behind Chantelle, helping Stephanie wash her hands.

Chantelle felt trapped. His body pressed against her back, and her heart started pounding hard.

"Yay! My hands smell good now," Stephanie said cheerfully. "Mommy, you should wash your hands too!" She pulled on her mother’s hands, guiding them under the running water.

When she realized everything, Daniel’s fingers were already wrapped over hers.

He was gently washing between her fingers like she was a child.

Suddenly, the warmth of his hand on hers, along with his body behind her, made her blush instantly.

"E- enough," she said, trying to pull her hands away.

But Daniel held her hands tightly.

She turned her head to glare at him when she couldn’t break free.

He had clearly been waiting for her to turn his way. A smile bloomed on his face the moment they looked at each other.

Her heart fluttered at the sight.

He inched closer, slowly closing the distance like he was about to kiss her.

She quickly shoved him aside and took Stephanie with her back to the table.

It was a good thing Daniel let it go. Kissing her in front of Stephanie would’ve been too much.

Did he even think about how his daughter might feel?

Chantelle shot him a glare, but Daniel seemed completely unbothered. His mood had clearly lifted as he happily filled the kids’ plates with food.

"Chantie, the special remedy is almost ready. You’ll need to keep following the routine for the next two days. We’re not sure what kind of side effects might show up after it’s taken." Philip finally approached Chantelle now that Daniel was in a good mood.

He had no interest in getting on Daniel’s bad side.

"Side effects?" Chantelle asked, puzzled.

Philip glanced at Daniel before answering, "You might end up sleeping longer than usual, but don’t worry. Once you wake up, everything should be fine. Daniel said we’ll take you home if that happens."

"What about his remedy?" Chantelle asked, turning to Daniel.

His condition was clearly worse. Why weren’t they making his medicine first?

"This one’s a bit more complicated. It’ll take time," Philip said, avoiding the details.

Chantelle’s face turned serious. She shot Daniel a hard look. "Did you make William work on mine first on purpose? Are you planning to send me away while I’m asleep just so you can face Trenton alone?"

He gave a small nod, but that only made her angrier.

"Oh, now you care? I thought you didn’t even want to see me," Daniel said, seeing the angry expression on her face.

Chantelle’s eyes were burning. "I was just worried about the money!"

"I’ve already handed over the Wilson Group of Companies to Jude. Even if I die here, you’ll still get your share without losing any dime."

She stood up quickly, eyes filled with anger. "What gives you the right to decide my future, Mr. Wilson?"

"I’m handling everything for you as your husband. Is that so wrong?" Daniel said, rising to his feet.

Philip sensed things were about to blow up, so he quickly led the triplets out of the room.

Daniel looked her straight in the eyes. She was holding back tears, and it crushed him with a wave of guilt.

"Smartass," she muttered. No tears, just a cold glare before she walked away.

Daniel followed her, but she spun around and stomped hard on his foot.

"Stop following me."

"I do what I want," he said, staring her down.

His stubbornness only made her angrier. She took a deep breath and stormed back to her room, heading straight for the bathroom.

Daniel stood in front of her. "Where are you going?"

"That’s none of your business." Chantelle shoved past him and went into the bathroom to get dressed and do her makeup.
