I have a house facing the sea, with spring flowers blooming.
These were the lines of poetry that appeared in Yang Lin's mind the next morning after he woke up in a seaside guesthouse.
Of course, the house wasn't the only thing that belonged to him; the entire island did as well.
"This is so comfortable. I really want to stay here for a couple more days, but unfortunately, the zoo needs me."
Yang Lin stretched lazily and put on his clothes with practiced ease.
A full day had passed since he landed on the island yesterday. According to his original plan, he would be returning to the mainland with the previous day's tourists on the passenger ship this morning.
After that, Dolphin Island would welcome a new batch of visitors.
Thanks to the spontaneous word-of-mouth publicity from the previous group of tourists, Dolphin Island had now been hyped up as one of those must-visit attractions in everyone's lifetime.
All the tickets for the May Day holiday period had been sold out long in advance.
Yang Lin wasn't surprised by this at all.
After a simple breakfast provided by the guesthouse and picking up the Chinese锦绣 dragon lobster from the stir-fried noodle guy from yesterday, Yang Lin left Dolphin Island by boat, just like any ordinary tourist.
There was a small incident during the return journey.
Just as the passenger ship left the port of Dolphin Island, a small head popped out from the stern of the ship.
This scene was precisely what a tourist standing on the deck noticed, and in an instant, a flicker of surprise and joy lit up his eyes.
"Dolphins! Dolphins are here to see us off!"
Upon hearing this, the tourists who had been quietly sitting inside the cabin immediately rushed out.
When they arrived, they indeed saw the dolphin that had been following the passenger ship.
Before they could even get their phones out to take pictures, more and more small heads began to emerge around the first dolphin.
Within a minute, hundreds of dolphins had appeared around the passenger ship.
These dolphins would occasionally surface, then dive back down, and sometimes leap several meters out of the water.
What surprised the tourists even more was that these dolphins would emit clear chirping sounds, not very loud, but definitely audible.
"Wow, these dolphins must be really sad to see us go."
"It feels like they're sending us off."
"They're so cute."
"I was feeling a bit sad about leaving Dolphin Island, but seeing these adorable little guys has suddenly lifted my spirits."
"Yes, dolphins are truly magical animals that can heal the heart."
"Little dolphins, I'll come back to see you again, don't miss us too much!"
"Yeah, you have to wait for me. I'll queue up to buy tickets again as soon as I get back."
"That detestable park director Yang, the tickets are so hard to get. I don't know if I'll be able to snag one next month."
"Don't even think about it. Given Dolphin Island's current popularity, the chance of getting a ticket is lower than trying to win a car plate in Beijing."
"Enough talk, I'm going back to figure out how to get a dolphin trainer's qualification certificate."
...
While the tourists on deck were bidding a reluctant farewell to the dolphins in the sea, Yang Lin, wearing a straw hat and sunglasses, shook his head.
The tourists couldn't understand what the dolphins were saying, but he could hear them perfectly clearly.
These dolphins weren't expressing any sadness about their departure at all.
"These bipeds are finally leaving."
"Yeah, they're so noisy."
"Exactly! I couldn't sleep at all. Don't come back anymore."
"Everyone, curse them with me!"
"Stupid bigheads!"
...
That's right, the dolphins weren't seeing them off; they were coming out to curse them because they were disturbed by the ship's noise.
Due to the dolphins' highly developed sense of hearing, even the slightest sounds on the water's surface reached a level of noise for them.
Let alone so many people crammed onto the deck shouting into the sea.
If these tourists had continued shouting for a while longer, even more dolphins would have appeared.
Fortunately, the passenger ship's speed was very fast, and it soon left the waters around Dolphin Island.
Two hours later, Yang Lin set foot on land again, and with him was the Chinese锦绣 dragon lobster.
To prevent this large creature from dying, he had even awakened its innate talent.
But just as he was about to carry the aquarium containing the lobster to his car, a series of urgent police sirens suddenly echoed from the distance of the port.
The next moment, to Yang Lin's bewildered gaze, more than ten police cars with flashing red and blue lights screeched to a halt not far in front of him.
"What the heck is going on!"
Although he knew the police officers weren't there to arrest him, the tourists who had just disembarked with Yang Lin, as well as the scattered passengers at the port, immediately descended into chaos.
Among the many port staff, seven or eight young men carrying styrofoam boxes appeared particularly flustered.
A leader with dyed blonde hair, after his eyes darted around nervously, quickly turned grim.
"Damn it, those idiots on the forums must have exposed us."
"Everyone be careful. We'll split up and run later. If we can't escape, we'll just grab some hostages."
As soon as he finished speaking, the blonde-haired man was the first to run towards the crowd, carrying his styrofoam box. This direction also happened to be where Yang Lin was.
However, before he could take more than a few steps, the loudspeakers on the police cars blared.
"Smugglers inside, listen up. We have all the evidence of your criminal activities smuggling live animals from Vietnam."
"Do not resist pointlessly. Cooperate for leniency..."
The bewildered crowd instantly understood upon hearing this.
"Smuggling live animals? That explains it."
"You scared me to death. I thought the police were coming to arrest me for throwing trash into the sea earlier."
"Live animals? What are they, and why would anyone smuggle them?"
"It's those rare reptiles. Some young people like to play with them, but these reptiles are either venomous or extremely aggressive."
"Are those guys over there carrying those big boxes the ones?"
.....
Once they understood, the crowd on the dock immediately turned their gaze towards the people at the scene who might be hiding live animals.
Yang Lin, who was also carrying a large box, was naturally no exception.
Not only was he carrying a large box, but he was also wearing a straw hat, sunglasses, and a mask on a hot day.
He even looked more suspicious than those young men.
Faced with the scrutiny of everyone's eyes, Yang Lin became anxious.
"Why are you looking at me? Do I look like a bad guy?"
"I have lobsters in here, lobsters! Not some reptile. Has anyone ever heard of keeping lobsters as pets?"
However, at this moment, no one could hear his explanation. Even the young blonde-haired man, who was clearly a smuggler, looked over.
"Brother, you're in this business too, huh?"
"Oh! You even got a car. Let me get in, we can leave together!"
Without any preamble, the styrofoam box-carrying young blonde man lunged towards Yang Lin's car.
