Chapter 1479 Laozi the Dao Ancestor, Confucius the Sage

"Heavenly Emperor's decree, grant Li Cunxiao, Jin Tai, Li Yuanba, and Guiguzi the title of Marquis of First Rank!"

"Heavenly Emperor's decree, continue the investigation into the whereabouts of the Origin Pagoda!"

Several days later, two imperial decrees spread throughout the immortal realm. Three days had passed since Guiguzi and Li Yuanba annihilated the past and future selves of the Desolate Origin Ancestor. During these three days, the main body of the Desolate Origin Ancestor had not been located, but that wisp of aura had gradually become clearer. Under Guiguzi's deep perception, it was continuously locking onto the chaotic space, rapidly approaching the Desolate Origin Ancestor's cultivation retreat! Su Dan Novel Network

"Ding! A hero can be summoned today!"

"Ding! Successfully opened today, the host has three summoning opportunities!"

"Three times?"

Yang Hao murmured to himself. Since Li Yuanba and Guiguzi appeared, only three statues remained unsealed among the heroes sealed on the ninth floor of the Samsara Profound Yellow Pagoda: the Supreme Sage Teacher—Confucius, the Dao Ancestor—Laozi, and the Overlord of Western Chu—Xiang Yu!

With three summoning opportunities, this would be the final summoning, and all the heroes sealed within the Samsara Profound Yellow Pagoda would be born!

"Summon!"

"Ding! Commencing summoning of ancient heroes!"

"Weng~~"

"Weng~~"

At this moment, Yang Hao closed his eyes. His primordial spirit, from the depths of his soul sea, entered the ninth floor of the Samsara Profound Yellow Pagoda. He stepped onto the rolling Milky Way, gazing at the remaining three statues standing on the celestial river. The twelve hero statues that were already emitting light now had brilliant, multicolored rays shining behind their heads.

Currently, on the Milky Way, dazzling golden light flickered and flowed above. One of the statues trembled, drawing myriad golden rays from the boundless celestial river.

As the golden light merged, the surface of the statue began to peel away. The statue emitted brilliant light, illuminating the boundless celestial river flowing within the ninth-floor space!

Within the shimmering light of the statue, the projected phantom of the hero appeared, possessing a naturally noble countenance, a fair complexion, beautiful eyebrows, a broad forehead, large eyes, long ears, a square mouth, thick lips, two nasal bones, and three ear holes!

Seeing the hero's figure flashing on the statue, Yang Hao revealed a satisfied smile. He soon became solemn and serious. Laozi, revered as the progenitor by Taoism, this peerless hero was about to emerge. At this moment, on the fourth floor of the Samsara Profound Yellow Pagoda, a historical river roared open, and a golden statue of a hero emerged, its figure flashing and charging into the fourth floor of the Samsara Profound Yellow Pagoda.

"Ding! Congratulations to the host for successfully summoning the peerless celebrity—Dao Ancestor—Laozi—from the historical river!!"

The progenitor of the Daoist school!

Biography: According to various historical records, Laozi, also known as Li Er, was born in Ku County, Chen State, around the first year of King Ling of Zhou's reign. In the twenty-first year of King Ling of Zhou, he served as the Keeper of the Imperial Library in the Zhou royal court. Before being recommended to serve the Zhou court, Laozi studied under Chang Zong.

Later, in the tenth year of King Jing of Zhou, Laozi was dismissed from his post as Keeper of the Imperial Library due to the persecution of the powerful. Consequently, Laozi traveled to Lu State and attended a friend's funeral in Xiangdang, Lu State. Confucius assisted in the funeral. At this time, Confucius was seventeen years old and asked Lao Dan about rites. Five years later, Laozi was recalled by Duke Jian of Gan to resume his position as Keeper of the Imperial Library. Four years later, twenty-six-year-old Confucius visited Zhou for sightseeing and paid a visit to Laozi.

In the fourth year of King Jing of Zhou, because the documents under Laozi's charge were taken to the state of Chu by Prince Chao, Laozi was dismissed from his post as Keeper of the Imperial Library. Laozi then returned to his hometown to reside before traveling to the state of Qin. In the nineteenth year of King Jing of Zhou, fifty-one-year-old Confucius once again visited Laozi to seek learning.

Around the thirty-fifth year of King Jing of Zhou, as the Zhou dynasty grew increasingly decadent, Laozi left his homeland and prepared to pass through Hangu Pass to travel the world. The officer in charge of Hangu Pass at that time, Yin Xi, greatly admired Laozi and asked him to leave behind a work, which later became the renowned "Tao Te Ching." Then, Laozi rode away on a large green ox. Legend has it that he retired and cultivated in Jingshi Mountain.

Legend has it that Laozi lived a long life, dying in the state of Qin around the fifth year of King Yuan of Zhou, at the age of one hundred and one.

In the first year of Qianfeng during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang, Laozi was enfeoffed as Emperor Xuanyuan Tai Shang. In the sixth year of Xiangfu of the Song Zhenzong era, he was given the posthumous title Emperor Hunyuan Shangde Tai Shang Laojun.

"System, continue summoning!"

"Ding! Commencing summoning of ancient heroes!"

After deducting the opportunity, one of the remaining two statues emitted golden light, and a figure emerged, flashing and charging into the fourth floor of the Samsara Profound Yellow Pagoda.

Biography: Confucius's ancestors were nobles from Liyi, Song State. His ancestor was Shang Tang, the founding monarch of the Shang Dynasty. Confucius's father, Shu Lianghe, fled to Zouyi, Lu State, to escape the wars in Song State and settled there. His official position was Grand Master of Zouyi. Yan Zhengzai, less than twenty years old, gave birth to a son when Shu Lianghe was sixty-six years old. As their marriage did not conform to rites, the couple lived in Mount Ni and became pregnant, hence the term "wild union."

In the ninth year of Duke Zhao of Lu, Confucius, then nineteen years old, married Qi Guan Shi from Song State in order to frequently return to his ancestral land of Song to offer sacrifices to his ancestors. The following year, he entered officialdom, serving as a storekeeper, managing warehouses.

In the seventeenth year of Duke Zhao of Lu, Tan Zi visited Lu State for an audience. Confucius inquired about the ancient official system of Tan State. Confucius established private schools. Around this time, three years later, Confucius was thirty years old and had gained some renown. When Duke Jing of Qi and Yan Ying visited Lu State, they summoned Confucius and discussed the issue of Duke Mu of Qin's hegemony with him. Confucius thus became acquainted with Duke Jing of Qi.

In the twenty-seventh year of Duke Zhao of Lu, a minister of Qi wanted to harm Confucius. Upon hearing this, Confucius sought help from Duke Jing of Qi. However, Duke Jing of Qi claimed he was old, and Confucius had to flee back to Lu State in a hurry. In the sixth year of Duke Ding of Lu, Yang Hu, a minister of the Ji family, wielded increasingly excessive power. Confucius referred to this as a minister ruling the state. Confucius retired and compiled the "Book of Songs," "Book of Documents," "Book of Rites," and "Book of Music." Numerous disciples followed Confucius and traveled to various states, studying with him.
