Chapter 1294: Chapter 1294: A Feeling of Being an Old Married Couple
Ji Qishu said, “Do you think I look like someone who would rekindle old flames? You don’t know there’s a rainstorm here. I’m soaked. I just came here to take a shower and found clothes I left behind in the changing room. That woman, huh, must be hugging my shirt every night. Such hypocrisy! What are you doing?”
Tang Zhou: “Playing with my little Tangtang.”
Ji Qishu: “Being a queen doesn’t seem very fulfilling. You’re just babysitting all day.”
Tang Zhou: “Don’t think I don’t know you’re jealous because I have a child! And you can’t find a woman to have a child!”
Ji Qishu decisively exited WeChat and continued reading comics. If he says another word to Tang Zhou, he won’t be Ji anymore!
Before long, Ji Qishu fell asleep and dreamed that he got together with Chang Qinghua, who then had a daughter. Hmm, just as cute as little Huahua…
He was just about to hold his precious daughter when—thud—he fell off the sofa onto the floor, hitting his head on the tiles and couldn’t recover from the pain for a while.
By now, it was morning, Chang Qinghua was making breakfast in the kitchen, and hearing the noise from the living room, came out to find him under the sofa.
She couldn’t hold back and burst into laughter.
Hearing the laughter, Ji Qishu climbed out from under the sofa and glared at her fiercely: “You dare laugh, I’ll chop you up.”
Chang Qinghua didn’t say anything. She brought two servings of egg pancakes from the kitchen, placed them in the living room, and took out two cups of hot milk from the microwave. Of course, she didn’t invite him to eat; she sat down and ate while asking, “How come you’re at my house?”
“A rainstorm hit in the middle of the night, my car broke down, just near your house. If I didn’t come here, where would I go?”
The rain was indeed heavy last night and still falling. Chang Qinghua said nothing more.
She ate and said, “I wonder which experts designed the city’s drainage system. As soon as it rains heavily, there’s flooding. I just saw pictures my colleagues posted in the group chat; some places look like you can swim. I want to end my vacation and resume interviews today.”
Ji Qishu was the leader, so Chang Qinghua could only seek his agreement on this matter.
Ji Qishu went to the bathroom to wash his face, then pulled out a chair in the dining room and sat down. “Is my vast COKO Media missing just one reporter like you? Yet, these egg pancakes still taste like old times.”
Suddenly, it felt like an old married couple.
Ji Qishu took two bites, then forcefully interrupted his thoughts. What old married couple— they’re ex-husband and ex-wife!
Ji Qishu changed the subject, “Why do you still have my clothes in your changing room?”
Chang Qinghua hesitated for a moment, then replied calmly, “Those are your clothes after all. I felt it was better for you to handle them yourself since they’re custom-made. If you come back asking for them, I couldn’t afford to replace them, so I kept them. You should take them with you today; stop occupying my changing room.”
Ji Qishu bit down hard on his egg pancake, saying nothing more, or else he might end up wanting to take action with her.
The secretary called, saying there was something at the station. Ji Qishu listened for a couple of moments, grunted a response, then hung up and left after finishing eating.
But in the morning, Chang Qinghua received a call from the director, saying her position would be shifted, taking her off the reporter role to become the news live broadcast host.
Chang Qinghua said, “Isn’t Yuanjie the permanent female news host?”
The director said, “Yuanjie is pregnant and has applied for maternity leave. After a meeting, the station decided you should take over. Your image is good, and after years of being a TV reporter in the field, you’re more professional and knowledgeable about the news than others. This position is already confirmed.”
Chang Qinghua: “…”
This was a promotion, and of course, Chang Qinghua couldn’t refuse.
However, “Was it arranged by General Ji?”
“No, General Ji doesn’t handle such minor matters.” The director seemed to speak honestly, but if it wasn’t instructed by Ji Qishu…
