Chapter 283 Counter-Invasion

It was evident from Bai Qi’s dragon breath being able to pass through the gate to the other side that the Gate of Destruction was a two-way portal. Creatures from the outside world could invade one’s own world through the gate, and one could enter the other world in reverse.

After failing to find any clues, Bai Qi chose the simplest and most direct method: he reached out to touch the light barrier in front of him.

Just as Bai Qi had expected, after his dragon claw touched the light barrier, it successfully phased through.

To be cautious, Bai Qi retracted his claw the instant he touched the light barrier. Only after confirming there were no issues did he confidently extend his dragon claw again.

*Hum…*

First his dragon claw, then half his body, and then his entire being passed through.

Bai Qi felt a slight discomfort as he entered the light barrier, experiencing a brief moment of lightheadedness. However, this dizziness was quickly dispelled.

When Bai Qi emerged from the light barrier once more, the scene before him had undergone a drastic transformation.

The sky was a dull gray, with patches of gray dust drifting in the air, like the remnants of burned paper. The ground was barren and scorched.

Without a doubt, Bai Qi was no longer in his main world. He was likely on a planet in another world.

From this world’s perspective, Bai Qi had become an invader.

Looking at the scene before him, Bai Qi understood why the other side had been so eager to invade his world. This desolate place was so bad that calling it wasteland was an understatement.

“This is the world beyond the gate? It’s too run-down.”

Not long after Bai Qi had crossed the Gate of Destruction, Savage followed, bringing with him a well-equipped personal guard.

Upon arrival, Savage unsparingly commented on the harsh environment, even thinking that such land held no value worth conquering.

“Wrong,” Bai Qi interrupted Savage. “This place itself is a massive treasure trove.”

“What? A treasure trove? Are you crazy, Holy Lord? I can’t see anything of value to occupy in this forsaken place.”

Saying this, he looked up towards a spot not far away.

Savage, bewildered, followed Bai Qi’s gaze and his eyes suddenly lit up.

Not far away were large numbers of rhinoceros monsters, manta rays, and various humanoid creatures and animals.

Savage wasn’t foolish. He immediately understood Bai Qi’s meaning.

Setting aside other creatures, the gigantic rhinoceros monsters and the flying manta rays were unlike anything that existed in Savage’s world, let alone other similar but entirely different beings.

By extracting and analyzing the genes of creatures from the main world, the Cadmus Project had created a large number of powerful mutant creatures with diverse forms and abilities. If they could obtain the genes of these external creatures and decipher them, they might be able to create even more powerful mutant creatures.

Unlike Bai Qi, Savage had never viewed these mutant creatures as living beings.

In Savage’s eyes, these mutant creatures were, at best, biological weapons. Other Cadmus laboratories also followed Savage’s ideology, creating stronger and more useful mutant creatures with the goal of cultivating weapons.

Only the Cadmus laboratory located in Kutor, which was under Bai Qi’s control, did not engage in mass production like the other three. For the sake of experimental results, they directly dissected existing mutant creatures for research.

Under Bai Qi’s management, a subtle balance had been achieved between humans and mutant creatures in the laboratory. Although the research progress was much slower than the other three, Bai Qi believed this slowness was worthwhile.

Returning to the present, the value of this world was not only in its creatures, but the world itself, or rather, the planet, was a great treasure.

It was known that Bai Qi’s world, due to the prolonged dominance of righteousness and the decline of malevolence, had ceased its Yin and Yang cycles, leading to the world’s decline. This planet, for Bai Qi’s world, was an excellent tonic.

There were two ways to deal with this planet. One was a crude and direct method: take it all, transfer the entire planet back to the main world. However, this process was currently difficult for Bai Qi and would not be of great help to the main world.

Another option was to shatter it into fragments and send them back to the main world one by one. Bai Qi could do this, but this method would significantly diminish the planet’s value. Even if transported back to the main world, its value would be less than one-tenth.

Rejecting the first two options, Bai Qi favored the third and, in his opinion, the most effective method: using special magic to extract the planet’s energy and then transport it back through the Gate of Destruction to nourish Bai Qi’s world.

This was the most efficient method in Bai Qi’s view. With a little manipulation, he could provide a special treat for the Black Qi Mother, giving the abusive man a big surprise when it was done.

Of course, Bai Qi alone could not extract a planet’s energy and transfer it to nourish another world. The Black Qi Mother’s help would be indispensable, and Bai Qi had to be prepared.

Bai Qi’s actions constituted theft, stealing the world’s inherent power. Initially, it might go unnoticed, but over time, as more and more energy was absorbed, even if this world did not discover it, the planet itself would begin to resist.

Bai Qi had to be prepared to resist the planet’s backlash.

However, before any of that, Bai Qi needed to establish a secure base here. Otherwise, all talk was just empty words.

“Savage,” Bai Qi said, looking down at Savage. “Have your people bring over the equipment. I need to establish the first solid stronghold here.”

“Alright.”

Savage nodded without further comment. Although he was displeased with Bai Qi’s slightly commanding tone, their interests were currently aligned, and there was no need to create unpleasantness over minor issues.

But when Savage took out the Mother Box, intending to teleport the equipment all at once, he discovered that the Mother Box had truly become just a box. No matter how Savage operated it, it remained unresponsive.

“Are you stupid?” Bai Qi mockingly said, seeing Savage struggling with the box. “This is no longer the world we belong to. Your little toy is useless. Have your people carry it.”

After speaking with a hint of disappointment, Bai Qi turned and plunged into battle.

There was no other choice. For now, only Bai Qi possessed the strength to deal with the rhinoceros monsters and manta rays. He had to bear the burden and clean up the surroundings before the camp was established.

Under Bai Qi’s fierce attacks, the planet’s creatures were routed, fleeing in disarray. Upon realizing they were outmatched, these creatures, driven by instinct, decisively chose to flee. Savage, meanwhile, directed his men to quickly establish the camp.
