Chapter 329 Surprise Raid on Arkham

Meanwhile, a shadowy figure stealthily scaled a wall, only to stumble upon several cooks gambling in a garden pavilion.

As they were finishing up and preparing to leave, the figure lunged forward, using the darkness to cover the mouth of the last cook, a portly man. With a swift, forceful twist, the figure snapped his neck like a twig.

At this moment, the black police officer had already escorted the girl through the entrance.

Seizing the opportunity while no one else was around, the black officer whispered to the girl from behind, "The junction box is just ahead, hurry up."

But at this critical juncture, a deep voice, a familiar voice, cut through the air, startling the girl.

"Harley Quinn?"

Following the direction of the voice, the speaker was none other than the Joker, who had been confined.

"Is that really you?"

The moment the black officer saw the Joker, he knew trouble was brewing. He immediately lowered his voice and said to Harley Quinn beside him, "Don't mess this up."

However, Harley Quinn was already flustered by the Joker's sudden appearance and couldn't hear a word the black officer was saying.

"Aren't you going to say hello?"

The Joker continued to taunt from his cell, while in the control room, the on-duty police officers watched this rare reunion with amusement.

With no other choice, the black officer had to keep escorting Harley Quinn, trying to get away from the scene as quickly as possible.

But the Joker persisted, saying, "I can see you're still in pain. At least the bruises have been cleaned up nicely."

Upon hearing this, Harley Quinn's last shred of composure vanished, her mind consumed by rage towards the Joker. Even with her hands cuffed behind her back, it couldn't stop her from seeking revenge.

The black officer tried to intervene, but Harley performed a backflip, deftly plucked the gun from his waist, and charged towards the Joker, firing as she went. The bullets struck the bulletproof glass, ricocheting off each time.

It became apparent that the black officer was no ordinary policeman. Like Harley Quinn, he was a disguised criminal. His alias was Deadshot, Floyd Lawton, a member of the Suicide Squad, directly led by Amanda Waller.

Logically, Deadshot Lawton, having been arrested recently, would have undergone a period of review before being considered for the Suicide Squad.

However, Amanda recognized Lawton's mastery of all weapons and his exceptional military skills. She bypassed the lengthy review process and directly assigned him to this mission, appointing him as the team leader.

Furthermore, each squad member had a micro-bomb implanted behind their neck. With a single press of a button from the control room, Amanda could instantly turn them into dust, eliminating any fear of betrayal. After all, these criminals understood the value of life and death.

As it stood, Amanda's decision proved to be astute.

Since the Suicide Squad's deployment to Gotham, their operations had been remarkably smooth, encountering no significant obstacles.

Yet, no one had anticipated running into the Joker at such a crucial moment, nor that Harley would be completely provoked by his taunts.

Lawton attempted to intervene but was shoved aside by the enraged Harley.

As he was pushed, Lawton's gaze happened to fall upon a gap in the sheet metal beneath the junction box, revealing several wires.

Knowing that the deranged Harley was unreliable, Lawton had to rely on himself.

He feigned a weak posture and, as Harley shoved him, he stumbled and conveniently crashed into the junction box.

The situation had devolved into utter chaos. The few police officers who realized something was amiss no longer dared to stand by. If anything went wrong, they would all be in deep trouble. They rushed forward, attempting to subdue the gun-wielding Harley.

But how could a few low-level officers handle Harley? She broke free in a few punches and kicks, quickly approaching the Joker.

Facing the furious Harley, the Joker inside remained unfazed, tapping the glass in front of him and saying, "Hahaha, this thing is bulletproof."

Clearly, he had severely underestimated Harley Quinn.

"Even better," she replied.

With that, Harley aimed the gun at the ventilation opening in the glass and, without hesitation, began to shoot.

The bullets danced within the cell, but thankfully, they were all dodged by the Joker in an incredibly exaggerated manner.

However, at this moment, Lawton, having finished installing the device, calmly walked over. It was evident he was much more relaxed than before.

The moment the device was installed, the effects were immediate. The external systems of Arkham were subjected to a massive purge, and the other teams successfully infiltrated.

The Joker, dodging the bullets, glanced at Lawton through the glass and asked, "Who is he? Not your new man, is he?"

Harley, not to be outdone, put on a nonchalant expression and said, "That's right. You're not jealous, are you?"

As soon as Harley finished speaking, the Joker's face fell.

He stood up and looked at Lawton, saying, "I know you. We've worked together before. No, wait, don't tell me..."

After a moment's thought, he continued, "Deadshot? Useless killer?"

Lawton didn't get angry at the Joker's taunts. By the time the fully armed SWAT team arrived, he put his arm around Harley and said, "I've got her."

He then walked past the SWAT officers. Sudan Novels.

Even so, the Joker continued to taunt, "You can have her. I bet even her clothes are second-hand."

Not long after the Joker finished speaking, there was a loud bang, and a large portion of Arkham plunged into darkness.

Under the cover of the blackout, the group worked together to pull open the railing of a pool, and King Shark entered from underwater, casually devouring a patrolling police officer.

Meanwhile, in the security room, everyone was still focused on the kitchen fire. The next moment, the door was violently kicked open by King Shark, followed closely by Captain Boomerang, who used his two boomerangs to take down all the police officers in the room.

"Lawton! Satellite positioning shows you at the main security center. What's going on?"

Looking at his team cleaning up the scene, Lawton calmly replied, "We've taken over. That's all there is to it. Now go get the cane."

"Don't get too cocky, Lawton. You're on a one-way street. You'd best remember that."

Frankly, Amanda knew the nature of these criminals. Therefore, when conditions allowed, she chose to give them a degree of freedom, allowing them as much room to maneuver as possible.

"That gas explosion has put the entire asylum on yellow alert. If the surveillance cameras catch us, we're finished."

Clearly, Captain Boomerang was unhappy with Black Spider's method of using a gas explosion to create a diversion.

Harley Quinn, however, shrugged it off and said, "Then turn off all the surveillance cameras."

As soon as Harley finished speaking, Lawton walked over and said, "That will definitely attract Batman's attention."

As Gotham's Dark Knight, Arkham was a prime target for Batman's surveillance. If he detected even the slightest anomaly, the Dark Knight wouldn't hesitate to investigate.

"Then what do we do? Let him watch us running around like idiots?"

"Play yesterday's footage."
