Chapter 381 Cadmus Labs

After learning all the information related to Cadmus, the three quickly reached a consensus within a minute, forming a team to complete the mission and resolve it before the Justice League, upholding justice and eliminating evil.

However, despite saying they would form a team to complete the mission, once they arrived outside the Cadmus experimental building, the three showed no signs of cooperation.

First, Kid Flash, relying on his superior speed, rushed to the forefront. He caught two people who had fallen out of a window due to an explosion and brought them to the rooftop. He himself, lacking the momentum, barely managed to grab the edge of a window, thus avoiding falling.

"Is he always the first? We need a plan, Robin?"

It was evident that Aqualad, being the more stable one, was slightly displeased with Kid Flash's rash behavior. But as he turned his head, Robin, who had been standing beside him moments ago, had already disappeared.

Looking at the building, Robin had already used his grappling hook to swing to a window. He then pulled up Kid Flash, who was clinging to the window's edge, and they entered the building together.

There was no other way. Facing the mission, Kaldur chose to save people first.

Arriving at the base of the building, Kaldur used his equipment and magic to form a water column from the fire hose held by the firefighters.

Jumping onto the water column, he first rescued the two people on the rooftop, and then entered the building himself through a window.

Upon entering the room, Robin was furiously typing on a computer, while Kid Flash was doing something unknown on the side.

"You're fast."

It was clear that Kaldur was somewhat dissatisfied with the performance of the two.

Robin, however, paid no mind. While collecting data, he said, "I believe you can handle it. Besides, we're here to investigate, remember? Upholding justice and eliminating evil?"

Unable to help, Kaldur walked out of the room. As he turned his head, he happened to see a tall, thin silhouette faintly visible in the closed elevator.

"There's someone in the elevator..."

Before Kord could finish speaking, Kid Flash, from behind him, preemptively said, "The elevator should be locked, right?"

Robin didn't bother with such details. He abandoned the other two and went to investigate alone.

"Something's not right."

"Indeed, this is a high-speed elevator. A two-story building shouldn't have this."

"Nor should it have what I'm seeing."

Perhaps disappointed with the other two, Kaldur walked forward on his own and used brute force to pry open the elevator door.

When the elevator door opened, the sight below shocked Kaldur.

It was a dark abyss, bottomless.

"No wonder they need a high-speed elevator."

With that, Robin shot a grappling hook upwards, secured it, and slid down. Kaldur and Kid Flash followed him down the rope.

The three descended rapidly, all the way to the twenty-sixth basement level.

This was not because the place only had twenty-six floors, but because Robin's grappling hook could only lower them to the twenty-sixth floor.

Prying open the elevator, Kid Flash charged out without a word, only to be nearly trampled by a horde of Titans marching in formation.

The Titans did not attack the three. Only one of them glanced at them before the red light on the goblin's horns on its head flashed, and the Titan turned to continue its march.

Meanwhile, in a Cadmus laboratory.

"Sir, allow me to introduce the experiment I am responsible for, Project Megahormone."

Dr. Desmond, the head of this underground laboratory, was acting as a tour guide with a fawning expression, introducing the various experiments to the man before him.

It was clear that Desmond was terrified of the man before him.

This was understandable. Although he was the highest-ranking official in this laboratory, he had very few subordinates. The rest of the work was done by mutated creatures, and the man before him was from the Illuminati, his status far surpassing Desmond's.

Just then, the laboratory door suddenly opened. Bai Qi frowned upon hearing the sound of the door.

Desmond immediately noticed Bai Qi's reaction. Before Bai Qi could speak, Desmond rushed to the doorway and shouted, "Don't you see the 'No Entry' sign at the door?"

"I see it, Doctor."

The person who entered was none other than Guardian.

After the location of Otivia's deep-sea laboratory was exposed, adjustments were made to the laboratory's location and personnel for safety reasons. Guardian was then assigned to continue his security duties here.

Although the work environment had changed, some things remained the same. Guardian still had a goblin perched on his shoulder for mind control.

Guardian continued, "The goblins on the twenty-sixth floor are reporting intruders."

Upon hearing the word "intruders," Desmond's heart skipped a beat. He cautiously looked back at Bai Qi's reaction. Seeing that Bai Qi showed no displeasure, his expression seemed to say, "Handle it."

Understanding his cue, Desmond approached Guardian and asked, "Why didn't I hear the security alarm?"

"I... I'm not sure."

"For safety, take a team of mutated creatures to investigate."

"Yes, Doctor." Guardian then added, "I think the goblin can leave for a while. After all, this little fellow will affect my performance if there's a conflict."

"Absolutely not!" As soon as Guardian finished speaking, Desmond sternly refused, "The goblin cannot be removed at any time."

Seeing Guardian still showing some resistance, Desmond lost patience. He gently touched the goblin on his shoulder, and its horns glowed red. Then, the goblin on Guardian's shoulder did the same.

Guardian's eyes stared blankly ahead, as if his mind had been emptied. He stiffly said, "I must be inseparable from my goblin."

After Guardian left, Yong Huo walked in from the doorway and, through telepathy, informed Bai Qi of everything that had happened outside.

Even though Bai Qi already knew everything, he still put on an act of ignorance and anger when facing Desmond. "Dr. Desmond."

"Yes, yes, yes."

"I'd like to ask, the board of directors provides you with a large sum of funding each year, and this is the security you have for the laboratory?"

Hearing Bai Qi's words, Desmond became even more flustered. He quickly explained, "No, it's not like that. Well, Guardian has already taken mutated creatures to investigate. I think this is just a false alarm. Cadmus is definitely the safest place in all of Washington."

Without giving Bai Qi a chance to speak, Desmond hurriedly added, "Sir, please allow me to show you Cadmus's most crucial Project KR."

KR is the abbreviation for Krypton. Project KR is the clone plan for Superman, arguably the most core experimental plan in all of Cadmus. Bai Qi had heard of it before, but due to time and other reasons, he had never witnessed it firsthand. Since Desmond had voluntarily proposed it, how could Bai Qi refuse?
