Chapter 357 Let's Make a Deal

Chen Long flipped through the combat plan in his hand.

Indeed, specialization was key, and S.H.I.E.L.D. was truly professional in this regard.

From the choice of the transaction location, the number of people to bring, all possible emergencies, and subsequent support, everything was written down clearly and meticulously.

However, upon glancing at the operational plan provided by S.H.I.E.L.D., the old man beside him merely scoffed and said, "Only magic can fight magic."

With that, he walked into the conference room on his own.

Chen Long could only offer an apologetic gesture to Nick Fury, return the combat plan to him, and quickly follow his father's footsteps.

Looking at the combat plan in his hand, Nick Fury did not get angry. He smiled, handed the plan to the agent next to him, and slowly walked into the conference room.

As the meeting began, Nick Fury addressed the old man, "I heard you completed the Eye of Horus. Could you let us have a look?"

"Of course, no problem."

The old man waved his hand, and Tru took out two brocade boxes. He opened them and placed them on the conference table.

Including Nick Fury, many S.H.I.E.L.D. experts craned their necks, sticking their heads out to get a clearer view.

If not for Nick Fury's presence, these scientific experts might have swarmed forward to thoroughly examine these two eyes.

Seeing the ignorant expressions on their faces, the old man felt a sense of superiority. He deliberately pushed the two eyes forward, inviting them to take a closer look.

However, after examining them from various angles, these individuals could not distinguish which was real and which was fake. Some experts even took out their latest developed instruments to try and differentiate them by observing the magic intensity. To their shock, the instruments concluded that both eyes were real.

Both in terms of magic storage and magic intensity, the two eyes were identical.

Finally, the experts gave up. The lead expert handed his instrument to someone beside him and pushed the two eyes back towards the old man, humbly asking, "Sir, your technique is truly extraordinary. We really can't tell the difference between the real and the fake. Please enlighten us."

It was evident that the old man was enjoying this process. He pointed to the one on the left with feigned profundity and said, "This one, is real."

Although the current situation made Nick Fury's subordinates appear incompetent, Nick Fury was actually pleased.

After all, they were trying to deceive an ancient demon who had lived for who knows how many years. If their imitation could not even fool the electronic instruments and these experts' eyes, it certainly wouldn't fool the Holy Lord.

Nick Fury was very satisfied with the current situation, and they could proceed with the next phase of the plan. However, before starting, Nick Fury winked at the female expert next to him.

The female expert, understanding his intention, softly asked, "Sir, your methods are so skillful. Could you tell us how you did it?"

Hearing the female expert's question, the old man frowned and remained silent for a long time.

Seeing the old man's silence, Nick Fury understood and quickly changed the subject to discuss the next step of the plan.

However, it was more of a discussion, with most of the time spent by Nick Fury's team speaking. Chen Long and Tru occasionally chimed in with a question or two, while the old man closed his eyes and rested, not uttering a single word.

Soon, the operational plan was finalized.

Nick Fury cleared his throat and said, "Alright, I will immediately dispatch personnel to the designated location for an ambush according to the plan."

Previously, when Bai Qi had abducted Xiao Yu, he had communicated the exchange location to Chen Long's family: an uninhabited island near Kuttor.

Although they didn't know why the other party had revealed the exchange location in advance, they knew it was a good thing. Regardless of whether the other party would keep their word, they had to send people to lie in wait beforehand to prevent them from taking the items without releasing the hostage.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s arrangements were comprehensive. They first sent two teams of frogmen to lurk around the uninhabited island as a decoy. This superficial ambush would surely be seen through by the other party. Then, to show their sincerity, S.H.I.E.L.D. would withdraw them.

This would make the other party lower their guard and overlook the real killing blow.

In addition to the two decoy frogman teams on the surface, S.H.I.E.L.D. had also deployed two submarines to lie in wait in the deep waters. If the other party dared to play any tricks, the two submarines would not be easily dealt with.

However, when all arrangements were completed and they contacted Bai Qi for the transaction, an unexpected event occurred. Bai Qi stated that he wanted to change the transaction location.

"What! You're breaching the contract!"

Upon hearing Bai Qi's words, Nick Fury angrily rebuked, "What! You're breaching the contract!"

Bai Qi did not get angry. He slowly said, "Do you think I'm stupid? You've set up an ambush in advance, haven't you? Trading near my territory, you're overthinking it. Besides, you're the ones begging me for this transaction, show some sincerity."

Then, before Nick Fury could speak, Bai Qi on the other end of the phone dropped another bombshell.

"How about this, I see you don't really want to trade. You can keep the Eye of Horus. The transaction is cancelled. Anyway, I think Xiao Yu quite enjoys staying with me."

"No!"

Upon hearing that the transaction was cancelled and Bai Qi intended to keep Xiao Yu, Chen Long immediately became anxious. He was just an ordinary person, unlike the specially trained S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. He couldn't hold back and immediately broke down.

With the word "No," Nick Fury knew he had lost. He shook his head helplessly and said into the phone, "Alright, we agree. Where do you want to set the transaction location?"

Bai Qi did not waste time and directly stated the location and even the exact time, "Starting from now, three hours later, we will trade on the summit of Mount Rushmore. Don't be late."

After speaking, he didn't give Nick Fury a chance to say anything else and hung up the phone.

After hanging up, Nick Fury dared not delay. Although they had long anticipated that the Holy Lord would change his mind at the last minute and had some backup plans, they hadn't expected him to choose Mount Rushmore, a densely populated area, for the transaction. Three hours was too tight for them. They might not even have enough time to evacuate the people near Mount Rushmore and set up a cordon.

Nick Fury also understood the Holy Lord's intention in choosing Mount Rushmore for the transaction: to use the nearby civilians as hostages, preventing them from acting freely.

However, knowing this, Nick Fury had no choice. For now, all they could do was to evacuate the civilians near Mount Rushmore as much as possible.

Three hours passed in the blink of an eye.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s evacuation efforts were also not going smoothly.

No matter when, there were always many nosy people who, despite knowing the danger and the risk of losing their lives, would still disregard the cordon and rush in. This was especially true for some media reporters who had somehow gotten wind of the news. Before S.H.I.E.L.D. agents could arrive, they would charge in with their cameras, interviewing the bewildered crowd inside.
