Chapter 464 Heart-to-Heart

Bai Qi watched Billy writhe on the ground in agony without any intention of helping, just observing silently.

This was a necessary process. If Billy survived, it meant the subject had the value of a vessel. If Billy died, Bai Qi would unhesitatingly reclaim the scarab and the fragment of the Sun Authority, continuing his search for a usable vessel or creating one through genetic engineering.

However, this would create too much of a stir, inevitably attracting the attention of the world will. Moreover, a non-native subject would pose some obstacles to his future plans.

Fortunately, Billy proved resilient and survived. Part of his scarab armor transformed into a fiery red hue. Once the scarab armor completely turned crimson, it would signify that the original fragment of the Sun Authority had been absorbed, allowing him to introduce the next piece into Billy's body.

With Billy having met the criteria, Bai Qi saw no further need to linger. He turned and left the civilian residence. Before departing, Bai Qi didn't forget to dispel the magic and casually eliminated the giant wolf alien. As for how Billy would explain the situation, that was no longer his concern.

Over the next few days, Bai Qi found the Mimic Master again and discussed the Holy Dragon Church and the matter of extracting the world's origin. Once confirmed that everything was in order, he returned to the War World.

Compared to Karl, who was focused on his heart, Liang Bing was much more straightforward. Even as the Demon Queen, she kept her word after a verbal agreement. In Bai Qi's absence, she had installed an astral computer in the War World and, as a bonus, upgraded the entire War World.

Bai Qi nodded in satisfaction as he surveyed the transformed War World, especially admiring the towering astral computer in the core area.

With their own astral computer, many research projects could achieve groundbreaking progress.

As for who would be the first beneficiary of the astral computer's installation, it would undoubtedly be Savich, who had been stationed in the War World all along.

Upon the completion of the astral computer's installation, Savich, having learned how to operate it, eagerly used its immense computing power to upgrade his super nano-armor. Not only did its performance significantly improve, but it also once again astonished him with the world's technology.

In the War World, in Bai Qi's room.

Bai Qi was busy digesting the stellar energy within his body.

At this moment, a knock sounded at the door.

Bai Qi slowly opened his eyes, and a screen appeared before him, displaying the scene outside the door.

Bai Qi saw that the person standing outside was none other than Bai Ling, whom he had allowed to roam and play in North America.

Seeing that Bai Qi did not respond, Bai Ling's voice echoed from outside the door, "Father, I'm back. There's something I'd like to discuss with you."

"Come in."

The door opened, and Bai Ling walked in.

"What's wrong? Is something bothering you?"

As soon as Bai Ling entered, Bai Qi noticed her low spirits and the solemn expression on her face.

"Father, you will always protect the main world, won't you?"

At this, Bai Qi instantly understood the underlying meaning of Bai Ling's question and why she was so dejected. However, he still answered her inquiry truthfully, "No."

Bai Ling was struck as if by lightning, completely devastated. Seeing this, Bai Qi quickly added, "I will leave for the void, but only after you have grown strong. Until you can stand on your own, I will help guard the main world."

Hearing Bai Qi's words, Bai Ling secretly breathed a sigh of relief and continued, "Father, I've seen too much in the past few days on Earth. I feel very confused right now."

Bai Qi gently stroked Bai Ling's head and said affectionately, "Is that so? Can Bai Ling tell Father about it? Perhaps Father can offer some advice."

"Father, are humans and this world truly worth our protection?"

Bai Ling recounted her experiences and observations from her travels on Earth to Bai Qi. From the initial joy of playing with Sister Liang Bing, to the invasion of Tianhe City by the饕餮 (Tāo Tiè) legions. At Bai Qi's request, Bai Ling went to Tianhe City to observe, but only to observe. Bai Qi had given her a strict command: no matter what happened, she was forbidden to interfere in the war.

Therefore, faced with the wicked invasion of the 饕餮 legions, Bai Ling could only act as a spectator.

The ambiguous words Bai Qi had left behind had indeed left the Xiongbing Company (雄兵连) bewildered. However, as a precaution, they reported the entire incident verbatim to their superiors. Fortunately, there were capable individuals among them who soon deduced that the aliens' invasion target was likely Tianhe City. To avoid alerting the enemy, they secretly set up defenses within Tianhe City, and ordinary citizens were covertly evacuated and replaced by soldiers.

Yet, even with such thorough preparations, the battle against the 饕餮 legions proved extremely difficult. The large warships were protected by energy shields, making them impervious to artillery fire. The aircraft piloted by the 饕餮 soldiers, while lacking energy shields, were agile, evading artillery and resisting bullets with their armor.

Even with the intervention of the Xiongbing Company, the situation did not improve much. Ge Xiaolun (葛小伦), who should have been the main force, was too afraid to engage the 饕餮 head-on, and was even nearly killed by a low-ranking soldier wielding a god-slaying spear.

Fortunately, later on, Lena, Sun Wukong, and Rose turned the tide, and with the combined firepower of two fleets, they managed to destroy one 饕餮 flagship, barely repelling the 饕餮 legions for the time being.

However, with the subsequent large-scale invasion by the 饕餮 legions and the destruction of communications by the demons, even China gradually fell into a passive state. Despite the presence of angels wielding the Sword of Flames fighting against the 饕餮 warships in major cities, they were still unable to completely defeat them.

Furthermore, the warriors of the Xiongbing Company were scattered during their battles with the demons, unable to replicate the scenario of the Tianhe City battle. Human forces' firepower was bombarded by the 饕餮 warships before they even reached firing range, resulting in heavy losses.

Bai Ling witnessed all of this. However, if it were just this, Bai Ling would not have had many emotional changes, as it was, after all, a one-sided invasion.

In Bai Ling's opinion, when faced with a powerful enemy, the best course of action for humanity was to unite and resist together. Even if they ultimately failed, there would be no regrets.

Yet, what Bai Ling witnessed was human deceit and treachery. Faced with external danger and oppression, humanity's instinctive reaction was not to fight back, but to engage in internal conflict for survival and sustenance. There were even human traitors who guided aliens for their own survival.

What's more, some humans, driven by their selfish desires, disregarded the fate of all humanity, established themselves as warlords, set up roadblocks for robbery, and engaged in all sorts of despicable acts.
