Chapter 41: The New Boss
Dante smiled and leaned down to kiss Risa deeply. Risa moaned into the kiss as she ran her hand over Dante’s cheek and neck, and after they separated, Dante saw that the blush on her face had grown even more. Dante smiled and spoke softly.
"Thank you, Risa. For everything."
Risa shook her head as she lay down on Dante’s chest again.
"You don’t have to thank me, master. You’re my master, and I’d do anything for you. No matter what happens in the future, even if the whole world is standing against you, I’ll be there with you no matter what."
Risa’s declaration touched Dante deep in his heart, and Dante pressed another kiss to the top of Risa’s head before thanking her once again. Risa tangled her legs with Dante’s own, and she felt a giddy sensation pass through her body as she enjoyed the peaceful quiet of the penthouse. It felt like it was just the two of them in the world at that moment, and Risa wouldn’t want it any other way.
Dante, meanwhile, was slowly running his fingers across Risa’s back while looking up at the ceiling, and there was only one thought running through his mind.
’It’s past midnight now, and Randy hasn’t gotten back to me. I’m going to find him, and once I do, I’ll kill him.’

[The Lucas Estate]
The next day saw an entire fleet of cars and trucks arrived at the Lucas Estate as every single member of the family answered the call for a general family meeting. Today was the day they were meant to meet the man who would become the new head of the family, and although there hadn’t been any announcement yet, there were already various rumors flying around that told the men they were not going to be getting the person that they expected as their new boss! Every single person in the family already assumed that Fredrick was going to be the new boss! Fredrick was the first son of George and he was also a smart man who had been learning under his father for a long time, so they didn’t have any reason to think that he wouldn’t get the title! But everyone’s assumptions were thrown out the window when they heard that it was Dante, and not Fredrick, that had gotten the position of Boss! It didn’t make any sense, and a lot of the men even dismissed the news as nonsense! Why would George give the title to the head of the Cleaners when his own son was more than capable!?
But even though there were people who didn’t understand what George was thinking, there were even more people who were extremely excited about the future! This group were mainly from the Cleaners who had been working under Dante all this time, and they all knew that Dante was the most capable person in the entire family! The fact that George had given the role to their boss meant that George had also seen those same qualities in Dante! The entire estate was abuzz with activity, and the men had all gathered in the wide courtyard as they waited to see if the rumors were true or not.
"Hey, do you think Dante is really the new boss?"
"I don’t know, but I don’t think that’ll be so bad. Dante is a good leader. He’s been great with the Cleaners."
"Yeah, I don’t think anyone can lead the family better than him, but don’t you think this’ll cause problems? How would you feel if your father gave your inheritance to someone else? Fredrick must be fucking pissed."
All the Lucas family members who heard those last words grimaced slightly as they realized that it must be true. They would also be pissed if they were in Fredrick’s position. But they were only foot soldiers, so they didn’t have any right to question anything done by the main family! All the men simply watched and waited for someone to come and address them, and it wasn’t long before the main doors of the mansion opened to reveal various men in suits. The men filed out from the mansion and stood in two straight lines on either side of the entrance, and once they were out of the way, the men on the ground saw Dante walking out from the building calmly. Dante had on his usual black suit and tie, and he was wearing a long black coat over all of it with a pair of sunglasses, and the moment he appeared with Risa following behind him and no one else, all the men could feel a tension settling on their shoulders as they realized what this meant! Dante had become the head of the Lucas family!
Dante looked over the gathered men with a calm gaze, and he could see the confusion and excitement in the eyes of different men. Dante knew that the men were confused. No one expected something like this to happen, and if anyone had asked Dante a few days ago, then he would’ve also said this was an impossible scenario, but it was obvious that it wasn’t impossible, because it had already happened. Dante had become the new boss of the Lucas family, and there was nothing he could do about it other than to adapt and take control of the family so that they would rise to the level that he knew they could be.
Dante had been skeptical about taking this position. He knew that there would be a lot of backlash from many members of the family, and there would also be those who would never accept him as the boss, but Dante realized something last night when talking with Risa. Even though Dante was willing to support Fredrick and make him into the best boss that he could be, Dante still had an image of what he knew this family could be like. Dante had a vision for what he wanted this family to become and he had always believed that his ideal was the best direction for this family.
Dante never tried to force his ideal on George, and he wouldn’t have tried to force it on Fredrick either, but that was before he was given this position. Now that Dante was the head of the family and he had the final say in everything that they did, there was no need for him to hold back anymore. He didn’t need to ask permission from anyone and he didn’t need to suppress his ambition! Dante realized that this was the chance he had always wanted! Dante finally had a chance to reforge the Lucas family into the image he believed was best for them, and he wasn’t going to allow this chance to slip from his fingers!
Once Dante appeared in front of the men, they all went silent and looked up to him expectantly. There was excitement on the faces of some of them and there were others who looked absolutely stunned by Dante’s appearance. Dante soaked in all the emotion directed at him before he spoke in a calm booming voice.
"I’m not going to waste time with any formalities. I know a lot of you are surprised by my appearance and there are a lot of questions that you would have, but you need to throw all that away and pay attention now. The Lucas family has been thrust into an unprecedented situation. Just yesterday, we were attacked by masked men with enough guns and grenades to start a small war. These men burnt down our warehouses, stole our weapons, and killed our brothers. They took from us and laughed in our faces because they thought we were weak! They believed the Lucas family would stand by and allow them to do whatever they wanted! But last night, they learned that we were not to be messed with."
