Chapter 1566: Chapter 1566: My Wife Will Support Me
The pure and innocent gaze carried a hint of confusion.
A complex blend of emotions harmoniously intertwined within her.
Diwu Zexuan looked at her, his eyes falling on her chest, his gaze growing deeper.
“Even if Qin Youxuan stays by Hanjie’s side, are you sure she can pretend nothing ever happened?”
“What do you mean by that?” Rui Hui turned her head to look at him, the smile on her lips vanishing instantly. “Stop speaking in half sentences—be clear!”
“Qin Youxuan is worried right now that Hanjie might be crippled. But if she knew the truth, what do you think would happen?” Diwu Zexuan raised an eyebrow, his eyes glinting as he stared at Rui Hui.
Nobody had ever dared to speak so loudly to him—except for this one idiot who constantly barked orders at him.
And, oddly enough, he rather enjoyed it.
He could only comfort himself: don’t stoop to arguing with someone mentally deficient.
“We could just never let her find out. Besides, Hanjie’s right leg really is severely injured. Without you, he really might end up as a cripple. None of us are confident we can fully heal it right now, so technically, it’s not lying,” Rui Hui said matter-of-factly.
“Do you believe if Hanjie knew his situation, the first thing he’d do is pay us hush money to help him fool Xuan? You didn’t see it just now, but when Hanjie saw Xuan staying by his side, his face lit up with joy.”
“I think you were just as happy—like you’d struck gold after watching someone’s marriage reconcile,” Diwu Zexuan said as he stood, walking past her into the hospital room.
“Who are you calling names? I swear, you’re such an annoying person…”
Rui Hui followed him into the room, but as soon as her eyes met Dan Hanjie’s displeased gaze, she immediately fell silent.
“Hanjie, you’re awake?”
“You’re here. Diwu Zexuan, hurry up and check on him,” Qin Youxuan said, her eyes lighting up the moment she saw Diwu Zexuan. She quickly sat up and moved aside to make room for him to examine Dan Hanjie.
Dan Hanjie’s eyes landed on the now empty spot beside his bed. He instinctively frowned and shot Diwu Zexuan a glare.
Of all times to show up, why now?
He had just started to enjoy the warmth.
These two people were clearly here to aggravate him!
“Why are you staring at me? I’m fine. Come here,” Dan Hanjie cast a sharp look at Diwu Zexuan and stretched a hand toward Qin Youxuan.
“No, Diwu Zexuan, check his leg first. Is it…” Qin Youxuan began to speak, but her eyes flickered, and she didn’t finish her sentence.
She looked at Diwu Zexuan anxiously, her eyes full of pleading.
“Take her to get the medication,” Diwu Zexuan said, glancing at Rui Hui.
Rui Hui nodded and pulled Qin Youxuan out of the room.
Though Qin Youxuan felt uneasy, as soon as she heard it was to get medicine for Dan Hanjie, she hurriedly followed Rui Hui out.
“Is my leg beyond saving?”
As soon as Qin Youxuan’s figure disappeared, Dan Hanjie’s mischievous gaze instantly cooled. He glanced indifferently at Diwu Zexuan.
Even with all of Qin Youxuan’s careful attempts to hide it, he could still sense her unease.
Her shift in behavior, apart from surviving their brush with death, now carried a new weight of worry.
Dan Hanjie wasn’t stupid. He could feel the weakness in his right leg.
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll really end up crippled because of you?”
Diwu Zexuan pulled up a chair and sat down by the bedside, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Why should I care? My wife will take care of me,” Dan Hanjie said casually as he leaned back against the headboard. Thinking of Qin Youxuan’s earlier nervous expression, his eyes softened with affection.
He couldn’t forget the moment right before the car explosion, when she clung tightly to him and said she wanted to spend a lifetime by his side.
