Chapter 51: A small trick

Chapter 51: A small trick

[Capturing a Rare Relic: The lost eye.]

[Requires: 1 slot.]

[Confirm | Deny.]

"Huh?" Jaden muttered as he looked at the necklace with a raised eyebrow.

He stepped forward and looked at the necklace with a scrutinising gaze.

"A relic?"

Jaden, of course, knew what relics were; they were magic items found within the dream realm, and each of them had a varying number of enchantments... humanity could not decide the strength of each enchantment, so they simply ranked them based on the number of enchantments.

A crude method, but it worked fine.

"This has 3 enchantments? I knew it would be a relic based on what had happened when the mistwriath attacked me, but I didn’t think it was a rare relic."

He shrugged and turned as he muttered with a blank look.

"Guess another surprise for me... confirm."

Just as he said, the necklace broke into black sparks and entered his body, and a blue screen appeared before him.

[Congratulations, you have captured a rare relic: The lost eye.]

He left the room and made his way to the entrance of the mansion.

’Picturebook.’

He looked at the blue screen before him and focused on the relics, and a new screen appeared before him.

"Hmm?"

Jaden raised an eyebrow at the unnamed enchantment and focused it for more information, but nothing happened.

"What’s wrong?"

Right then, he reached the hall of the mansion, and his eyes fell on Shelly, who stood at the entrance.

He glanced and continued on his steps. Shelly followed behind silently.

Both of them walked past the mansion gates and climbed into a carriage standing before the gates. Jaden looked at the mansion for one last time before he spoke.

"Let’s go..."

The carriage driver pulled the reins, and the carriage began to move as the horses galloped through the busy streets of Nightshade City.

Jaden looked through the carriage’s window and glanced at the people moving from one place to another; most of these people probably already knew that they were nothing more than pawns of a game, yet they acted as if they were living a completely free life.

He fell back into his seat and closed his eyes as he murmured with a bittersweet smile.

"Ignorance is truly bliss."

Shelly looked at him from the corner of her eye and looked at her empty palms as she spoke.

"It may be bliss, but having to live a forced life is despair in its own."

Jaden looked at her with a surprised look before giving a sad smile and responding.

"Right... there’s no bliss in being a slave."

She nodded at his reply and turned her head towards the window as she also looked at it for one final time.

A few minutes later, the carriage stopped at a street a few meters away from the church.

Jaden and Shelly stepped down from the carriage, and Jaden fixed his coat as he looked towards the church and muttered while clenching his fists.

"Soon."

They stepped further into the street, and soon a house with a black roof and pale stone walls appeared.

Jaden pointed at the house and looked at Shelly as he spoke with a faint smile on his face.

"That’s the house."

Shelly looked at the house and tilted her head as she spoke doubtfully.

"Are you sure?"

The house was just like the other leased houses of Navin... the kind one needs to look at for a long time just to remember.

"I am."

Jaden’s smile widened as he spoke.

"Let’s go."

Both of them continued their steps and reached the iron gate of the house. Jaden pushed the iron gate and walked towards the wooden entrance door, and Shelly followed behind with her usual indifferent expression.

After stepping into the hall, he looked at the four figures sitting on wooden chairs with a playful smile and greeted them with a slight bow as he added.

"It’s great to see you all."

Jamie looked at him with annoyance and asked.

"Can you stop doing that shit?"

Jaden looked at Jamie with a taken aback look and questioned.

"What do you mean?"

A vein throbbed at Jamie’s forehead as he spat.

"This bastard-"

"Oh! Jaden, when did you come?" Arden, who was busy looking at a map, asked with a bright smile on his face.

Everyone turned towards him, and Jamie gave him a furious look and shouted.

"You dumbshit, he just greeted all of us, how the fuck did you not hear it?!"

Jaden himself had the question and continued to stare at Arden. At the same time, Shelly walked and stood beside Selina, who was staring at Jaden with clenched fists.

’I will talk to him before we go there.’

"Ahem!" Arden coughed a few times and looked back at the map as he muttered, "I was busy checking out the map."

"Bullshit. What do you even understand in that?" Jamie questioned as he fell back in his chair.

Arden didn’t reply and just continued to stare at the map.

Jaden walked to a nearby chair and sat on it as he added.

"I have brought the armour and weapons..."

’Capture rend.’

He waved his hand towards the empty corner of the hall, and the leather bags appeared there. He hadn’t summoned them; instead, he simply released them from [Capture].

"How did you do that?" Navin questioned without a dumb founded look on his face, and others’ expressions hinted that they had a similar question in their mind.

Jaden shrugged and answered with a soft smile.

"Just a small trick."

Made changes with the Picturebook screen so it isn’t too big.

Umbralfang is a C rank, not a D rank. (Apologies for the mistake in the previous Chapters.)
