Chapter 38: Strange Possibility

Chapter 38: Strange Possibility

Jaden’s cold words echoed within the dark room as if lightning had struck them.

Both Navin and Jamie looked at him with stunned looks and straightened themselves.

Arden and Selina had deep frowns on their faces as they stared at him, and Shelly maintained her usual calm and indifferent self.

Everyone only had one thought running wild in their mind at that moment, which was how he had already mastered two spells and those of two different elementals... none of them knew how many affinities Jaden had, and neither did they know his mark or the spells he knew already.

"Sit," Jaden spoke again as the field of darkness created by the [Gloom Orb ★] receded.

Navin and Jamie gave each other short glances before they took their seats.

The room stayed silent for a few minutes as everyone thought about what had just occurred.

"Fighting within ourselves won’t do any good... and we would have entered the ’dream’ realm someday in future anyway, and at that time, each of us would have been alone... at least we have each other right now," Jaden added seriously and turned towards Selina as he continued again.

"But that doesn’t mean what you did was right, you still did it without anyone’s consent, so they have the right to dislike or even hate you... Selina."

Hearing his words, Selina’s body trembled slightly, and she lowered her head further and gave a little nod in reply.

Jaden fell back in his chair and heaved a heavy sigh as he continued.

"This place is a cruel game. It traps us, gives us fake memories... makes us connect to all of the civilians here, then it allows us to wake up from that fake life... it gives us hope of escape by assisting our grimoire awakening... but then slowly takes it away."

Everyone listened to his words in silence.

"However, it doesn’t matter if this city is an illusion or a game. We now have the way to the drainage system, which could be our only escape. We will get as strong as we can and then enter the drainage system and find the way out."

They nodded at his words and began thinking of ways to become stronger within the least amount of time.

Jaden stood up from his chair and began walking towards the door, his steps echoed within the gloom-filled room as he got ready to leave.

He pulled the tall door, and just as he was about to step out, Jamie called out to him.

"Jaden."

Jaden turned towards Jamie with an arching eyebrow and waited for him to continue.

Jamie looked at everyone before sighing and stepping towards Jaden as he added, "It’s private." Jaden simply shrugged and turned to leave. Jamie followed behind him.

The third floor of Sunflower Cafe was mostly empty, as it only accommodated nobles. Their steps echoed within the empty cream hallways as they looked for a waiter or waitress.

As they walked, Jaden’s eyes fell on the waitress from before, and he called out.

"Short Lady!"

However, he suddenly stopped in his tracks... He remembered her as a short lady, but that didn’t mean she would allow him to call her that.

The waitress walked towards them with a wide grin. Seeing that grin, Jaden gulped, and Jamie nudged him with his elbow and questioned with a defeated look.

"Why did you do that, man?"

"I-It just slipped off my tongue."

"Yes, Lord Giant?" the waitress asked with a grin that didn’t seem happy or amused.

"I-I apologise for my words, Miss Fairy."

A vein popped out on the waitress’s forehead after being called a ’Fairy’.

"Just say the damn thing, Dammit!" Jamie yelled at him.

He then looked at the waitress with a smile and asked calmly.

"Can you get us a private room?"

The waitress sharply turned to him and looked at them with narrowed eyes.

"Just so everything’s clear, we don’t allow such... acts in our cafe. No, I won’t help even though I read BL," She declared with her hands on her waist as she puffed out her chest in pride.

Jamie’s smile dropped, and Jaden unknowingly began to laugh, which he stopped by placing his hands on his mouth.

"T-That’s not what I meant. We need a room for talk." Jamie stuttered.

"Oh! Follow me," the waitress said as she turned around and walked towards an empty room.

A few moments later, Jamie and Jaden stood in a bright room with intricately designed blue walls. It had no chair or table.

Jaden looked at Jamie with a playful look and studied him before questioning.

"What is it that you want to talk about?"

Right then, Jamie bowed towards him and spoke.

"I am sorry for my behaviour..."

Jaden’s playful expression dropped into a frown as he waved his hand.

"There is nothing for you to be sorry about."

"That’s not all..." Jamie added loudly. He straightened himself and looked into Jaden’s eyes as he spoke with determination. "I want you to help me master my spells... I’ll do anything you say, just help me get stronger."

"Huh? How would I do that?" Jaden questioned with a puzzled look.

"I don’t know, use one of those damn tricks like you’ve always done and just help me get strong?"

’Tricks? What is he talking about? Wait... Don’t tell me...’

"What do you mean by tricks?" Jaden inquired with a serious look.

Jamie looked at him, and his expression turned dark.

"I don’t fucking know... You did impossible things without any issue, but you no longer have your damn memories." Jamie grabbed his head and continued to curse under his breath. He finally calmed down and said. "Let’s forget about this."

He turned and left the room while clenching his fists.

Jaden replied with a slight absent-minded nod as he thought of a strange possibility which made a lot of sense after Jamie’s earlier words.

’I had the system before coming to the ’dream’ realm...’
